See Liquipedia for an organized list of notable players. |
I'm a little disappointed at the lack of some big EU names. Although I appreciate we were never going to get many KR players, I'd hoped for a few more. Although maybe that's just MLG's standards coming back to bite them.
Should be good though, Dear is an absolute monster and soO and Stats are good too. There are also a lot of dangerous players would could easily just drop out in round 1 or could win the entire thing (*sC, Naniwa, etc.) and there are a lot of very solid players (Sase, Sound, Moonglade, Gruby, etc.)
If a foreigner is going to win a big non-WCS tournament this year, this is probably the prime time to do it. There are a lot of big names missing and a lot of previous champions who aren't going and that leaves the field quite open.

Stats! A Protoss to rule them all! :D <3

Nice player list.
Now the question is will we see ANY open bracket games on stream or get replays?

They did nothing of the sort in the last two open bracket events of 2012.
Entire open brackets were lost and we haven't gotten replays after an event since Columbus 2012.
Hopefully it's true and community casters get their hands on replays at least

Did they every release replays from the open bracket? That is a crap ton of work to collect all those files unless the players label them after each game. Even then, that is a lot of work that doesn't do much for the production.
I believe MLG Adam requested on twitter that community casters contact him about the upcoming MLG. It was a while ago and searching twitter is a pain on my phone.

Will be interesting to see what the few KesPa players attending will do with this lineup- . i might watch , if for nothing else, then the nostalgia in a tournament but packed with koreans

Since the entire tournament is open bracket (no pool play or anything like it afaik) I would assume we would get to see some open bracket games

Looking at Proleague, Stats would look like the favorite, but on the other side, he failed to qualify for WCS/GSL yet, indicating, that an environment, where he can´t prepare specifically for his opponents, makes him vulnerable (Same goes for Dear).
I think anyone out of Stats, soO, Dear, viOLet, Hyun, YugiOh, HerO, Polt, Naniwa, Heart, Sage, sC and STC could potentially win it, depending on how the bracket works out.
Personally I´m rooting for Grubby, Naniwa, ThorZaIN, Sase, Polt, iNcontroL and mOOnGLaDe to make it as far as possible. Heart?

I think HerO or sC will win. HerO is more reasonable, sC is my longshot/heart pick :p.
Also hoping for Yugioh but doubt it.

And yet never qualified to challengers league/code A... Not even close of being the strongest anything
PL's bo1s against specific opponents, on set maps, known way beforehand is way different from a bunch of b03 against random opponents, one after another, like in Code A qualifiers (and this mlg)...
If I had to bet on a Kespa player, it'd be Soo

Yes, all replays were released for every event through early 2012.
They used to have it automated where they got uploaded directly into the bracket minutes after every game. It was probably the most entertaining aspect of following the open bracket from home. Then they stopped this and started releasing the full packs 2 weeks after the events. Then they stopped with that altogether.

I dunno about you all, but I'm rooting for "ZERGASSASSIN"
Also, SaSiwa!

I like watching foreigners and protoss players. This is going to be the best mlg since 2011 for me! Need to check if I still got gold now...

well he DID make it through http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2013_MLG_Spring_Championship/KeSPA_Qualifiers
and he DID take out Rain Baby and Trap. But I'd agree with you, I'd expect more out of Soo and Dear over Stats.
