The lack of macro mechanics meant you couldn't burst produce a ton of units at a time, which meant you had to build up for a timing attack or allin over time. For example, in order to do a 2hatch hydra bust vs Protoss, you started committing super early on, cutting econ super early into the game, around ~13 drones (there was an exact amount but I don't recall), build a hydra den, have to do an entire research for hydra speed, and go pure hydralisk off just 2 hatches, not making any more drones and denying all scouting with speedlings. I also recall Flash stating in an interview that he knew Stork was doing an allin once when he scouted *one* more probe being made than he thought there should have been, and that Stork was too good to make said mistake. 2fact you could suspect was coming if you could see the Terran didn't cut gas in a siege expand to get a faster CC, although there were some mind games there and the build itself was eventually phased out. In the game now, you can still look at chrono and other tells, but you can't tell with the same level of precision as you could in BW. Also, for many allins in SC2, you reach full saturation first before doing the allin on your bases, then use the burst production to sustain repeated heavy waves (roach/ling allin, prior to that the delayed baneling bust allin, or as Protoss doing 7gateblink stalker allins or 8gate allins or chargelot/archon allins on 2base, you still get a large amount of workers). It doesn't make them less allin, just harder to see them coming with less time to see them coming. Which is why imo blizz made so many changes to increase scouting in SC2 that wasn't there in SC1, because of said burst mechanics causing units to seemingly come out of nowhere. On a different and more relevant note, I don't think Paralyze is very good but I love the spirit. Instead of letting himself be crushed (which he may have been on the inside), he saw fun in the situation. Absolutely awesome, positive personality, imo. very interesting, thanks for the answer ! | ||
