After the disbanding of LighT, American Protoss player Caliber joins ROOT Gaming.
Excerpt of interview on ROOT's website:
ROOT: Is there anything in particular that you think sets ROOT apart from others, or do the results speak for themselves?
Caliber: The results speak for themselves, although, the team chemistry seems really strong on ROOT. I believe this sets ROOT apart from other teams around the world. Despite the fact that there is no team house, ROOT has this feeling of being a family. Confirmed bros.

|
|

xXxYOLOxXx Fighting!!!~
Grats to ROOT, sick pickup, can't wait to see more out of him! Caliber played 1 of my favorite MLG series last year (vs. qxc in Raleigh, dat G3 comeback)!
|
Awesome! Caliber is a great player
|
they are getting a lot of players, i wonder how they are gonna financially support them all. Still great practice and atmosphere which is worth it even if your not getting paid/support.
kiwikaki come back!!

They only have 2-3 salaried players (I believe Catz or someone else on ROOT posted this in some reddit thread a while ago) so ROOT should continue to be one of the few teams in eSports that doesn't throw money at people and then go broke.

Congrats and good luck

as long as we don't "throw money at people and then go broke" hopefully we will be around long enough for someone to eventually go bald, thus completing all hair possibilities. :D!
|
Caliber! This line up is getting phat!
|
It's good to see him find a new team so quickly, unlike a lot of other players who are much less fortunate
|
Go ROOT! Good luck Caliber!
|
Awesome for Caliber, hes a really solid player and a cool dude. Good for ROOT, Theognis and Caliber imba.

confirmed bros haha
Gz to him, he should do great at root. Solidly agree about root having one of the strongest senses of family.

Yes, but that can't be the root of the problem. Also the puns here are just of a totally different caliber to anywhere else.

I get the appeal of Root, bros playing together, family, and whatnot. But why do people think that they will do well? Is it a fan favorite thing where they want Root to do well, or do people actually think that they can actually dominate other teams?

Its the Starcraft community in general. We have an innate fascination with terrible jokes.

Well they did beat FXO, taking out both Gumiho and Leenock, in the IPL Team League. So that's a good start.
I think ROOT has the right idea if managed properly. They're getting together a group of players they believe could be really talented and who are driven to improve. They aren't targeting big names (partly because they don't have the resources), but instead are looking for strong players with potential who want to work with one another in a team environment. The addition of Sage and Yugioh I think makes their future even brighter as those two have experienced practicing in Korean team houses and can hopefully pass that work ethic on to their teammates. A good team environment can help everyone to succeed and that seems to be what ROOT is going for.
It would be nice to see them sign one big Korean name to further the concept of spreading Korean level training throughout the team, but I kinda doubt they have the ability to do that unless they get Polt to start playing with them since he has independent sponsors to help fund him.

i love this guy. his games are some of my favourite to watch out of all progamers, and he has the capacity to beat any player in the world.
good luck caliber!
|
Grats. I love seeing a NA team giving actual strong NA players a chance.
