Today compLexity is announcing the departure of our friend Chad "Minigun" Jones.
Chad joined compLexity in June of 2011 and has contributed greatly to our efforts in StarCraft II. Recently, however, he has decided to step down from professional competitions and no longer desires to attend live eSports events. Thus we have mutually agreed to part ways and we have agreed to release him from his contract early so that he can pursue a more relaxed gaming experience.
We'd like to thank Chad for his loyalty, hard work and dedication. He is a wonderful person and player and we greatly enjoyed having him as part of our gaming family. Chad had the following to say:
Being in compLexity was a lot of fun, and made a few new friends. It was a great year and a half, but I am looking to take a step down from competing, at least for a little while. I wish them the best of luck, and please continue to support them after my departure.

Man, sad to hear that. I really hope he continues streaming. His stream was always good but lately it's been fantastic with a lot of commentary. I'm Zerg but I still love watching him =(

Logical development since Minigun doesn't want to attend tournaments anymore, maybe he'll rejoin ROOT if he even wants a team again.

Afaik he just doesn't want to play tournaments anymore, but I'm not sure.

Jason Lake and Jason Bass will get into GM and tear up the 2v2 tournament scene. There's not much else they can do with that roster at the moment. :D
Jokes aside, I think Jason Bass posted on Reddit that they had already signed another player and more were to come, it seems like they're just going through roster changes while ditching the house because it didn't work out. Maybe downsizing a bit.

 I was hoping this would mean he'd return to his ROOTs, but I guess he's taking a break, if not retiring.

If anyone has not seen the 20 minute mini documentary complexity released with a small interview of Minigun I suggest they watch it. Minigun is a great guy and regardless for his personal reasons on leaving I'm sure he'll be around online.
edit: I'm not saying this is why he left, just some insight on how he feels~

well perhaps he is just sad train train train and not getting what he hopes for, must be hard feeling see gosuuser and co be so strong nowadays and not being able to go the same way
sad but thats esport, the best survive the rest will die (a good way)

That's too bad. He's by far the most impressive foreign player I've seen, all things considered. Currently number 2 on ladder (has been first a lot), and he doesn't even have a RTS background? There definitely seems to be a discrepancy between his level of skill and tournament results. Hopefully he changes his mind and gets over w/e it is. Every zerg player does well, but how many toss or terran players are doing anything close to that?

Been watching a lot of his stream. Seems like Chad will only compete if he feels like he can win. Otherwise, what's the point. He said on his stream a few days ago "I will attend MLG when I am code S level". Does that mean he is close? Does that mean never? I dunno. But as a Protoss player, I really hope he keeps improving and streaming. I enjoy his play a lot. Need some of dat NA action to make me feel better about the state of foreigner skill lol.

makes sense if he isn't competing at lans anymore. i assume hes probably going to go to root so he can play in clan wars and online events with a team/friends still

Already 2 players gone for compLexity in 2013. Hopefully they can get some more players on their team.

perhaps, but no matter how much he improves. It doesn't matter to the competitive community unless he has the desire to compete again.
also did his TL username change already? or has it always been ROOTminigun, could have sworn he changed it to col.
