I am no expert on BW, but surely what made Kespa successful was just the popularity within Korea of BW. It was the number of Korean fans that attracted the sponsors. The Kespa companies only got involved and stayed because of the popularity of the game. Surely having popular players in your team is a draw for the fans. If Parting was able to choose his team based on a bidding war for his quality and popularity then that serves him better then this random draw. This whole incident definitely weakens the 'GOM' teams and makes the GSL's long term future more shaky.

After they finished their first contract (3-4 years), they are restricted free agents and as long as their current team can match the offers from other teams, they can retain the players. Only after a players 2nd contract are they actually unrestricted free agents. So NBA players are actually restricted for 1/2 of their careers. And since PartinG is a new player for Kespa, he is being put into the draft. I think for Kespa, they also have some rules regarding player switching teams once their contracts runs out. There is a signing period for these players for other teams. This is done so that there is more of a level playing field. They don't want PartinG, Life, Mvp, Leenock to all join the game team. No, If someone played overseas for 5 years or so they are free to sign with any team they want as a freeagent. Im not 100% sure of the wording in the rules but I believe it is something like if you are X amount of years past your 18th or 19th birdthay. For example, if someone was a pro in canada for X amount of years and then wanted to play for an NBA team, they would NOT have to go through being drafted. They coudl be signed outright.

ESF teams are weak because the management for most ESF teams are terrible, whether this will hurt the GSL in the future is yet to be seen.

Although Kespa did not specified how long the negotiation process took, but it seems that both party came to an agreement pretty quickly which means that salary offered must be lucrative in PartiingG's point of view. If PartingG quickly become an A team player or Ace after the transfer, I can see a lot of ESF player will follow suit and not extending their contract after it has expired.
