Wouldn't be surprised if it was SKT. They'd be super scary with Rain, Parting and Fantasy.

This seems a bit weird. Parting does not really decide on what Kespa team he joins. He just joins a Kespa team and it doesn't matter to him which one? It just sound not really committed to a team. Most people join a team because they like that particular team, but Parting seemingly has no preference, or at least his preference is ignored? OK!

This is common practice in a lot of leagues and sports around the world. I don't really understand what the controversy is, do you follow any other sports or understand how some drafting and trading systems work?

edit: To add some other insight, this is the price you pay when you want a standardized league that is able to offer livable salaries to players. If you want a single team to be able to buy out every star player you will create quite the disparity for other teams.

I follow football, rugby, Formula 1, tennis, cricket, golf, athletics and cycling and none of them operate in the way you claim is common practice. Maybe American sports operate in this fashion but I don't follow any of them.

Okay, the practice is used to discourage dominate teams from acquiring all or most of the new talent. By allowing team collusion when drafting new players can insure that all the teams are being fairly represented. If you want to join an organization, you abide by the rules. These rules are a way to allow for fairness, while there may be some trade offs the advantages of a stable salary and contract obligations are far worth it for KESPA players.

How would you have it, I'm curious?

Why not just allow Parting to negotiate with the team he is interested in joining? He may think to improve his game by having a certain player as a practice partner. However the odds will be that he will join a team that is a rival to this players team and so will not be able to practice with him or have this limited due to team rivalries. Essentially Parting is saying to Startale thanks for the training but I am going to join another team, and not any particular team because I really like them but really just anyone but Startale!

his would defeat what made KESPA successful for the last decade.

I am no expert on BW, but surely what made Kespa successful was just the popularity within Korea of BW. It was the number of Korean fans that attracted the sponsors. The Kespa companies only got involved and stayed because of the popularity of the game. Surely having popular players in your team is a draw for the fans. If Parting was able to choose his team based on a bidding war for his quality and popularity then that serves him better then this random draw.

This whole incident definitely weakens the 'GOM' teams and makes the GSL's long term future more shaky.

I will never, ever understand KeSPA. So now PartinG didn't join KeSPA team, he actually joined KeSPA itself... GL if he joins T8 that doesn't even have sponsors and can disband every season, or STX and KHAN that are struggling to win a single match.

You must also don't understand how NBA draft works too. Need to watch some sports, you.

There are rules regarding the draft where if you have been a professional player for a period of time you automatically become a free agent. The fact that he can't be a free agent here is pretty BS imo

No, new players are always drafted into teams. After they finished their first contract (3-4 years), they are restricted free agents and as long as their current team can match the offers from other teams, they can retain the players. Only after a players 2nd contract are they actually unrestricted free agents. So NBA players are actually restricted for 1/2 of their careers.

And since PartinG is a new player for Kespa, he is being put into the draft. I think for Kespa, they also have some rules regarding player switching teams once their contracts runs out. There is a signing period for these players for other teams.

This is done so that there is more of a level playing field. They don't want PartinG, Life, Mvp, Leenock to all join the game team.

No, If someone played overseas for 5 years or so they are free to sign with any team they want as a freeagent. Im not 100% sure of the wording in the rules but I believe it is something like if you are X amount of years past your 18th or 19th birdthay. For example, if someone was a pro in canada for X amount of years and then wanted to play for an NBA team, they would NOT have to go through being drafted. They coudl be signed outright.
How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal and you have to be willing to work for it. Jim Valvano

This is going to be interesting to see where he goes I'm glad he has to wait until heart of the swarm but that means he can just concentrate on being a practice partner/playing in individual leagues.

This would only make sense if KESPA was the first BW organization in Korea, they were not.

ESF teams are weak because the management for most ESF teams are terrible, whether this will hurt the GSL in the future is yet to be seen.

His interview attitude would DEFINITLY fit Khan and Wongjin the best.

I just think it's gonna be KT / SKT / CJ, cus they have the most money.

I am not sure why some people are against Parting joining a Kespa team. If they really support Parting, then they should be happy that he is finally getting well-rewarded for his hard work and talent, right?

Through the Association, PartinG has already negotiated and agreed to the terms regarding salary and joining a KeSPA team, and the process will be carried out fairly with teams desiring to acquire PartinG putting in their bids afterward.

Although Kespa did not specified how long the negotiation process took, but it seems that both party came to an agreement pretty quickly which means that salary offered must be lucrative in PartiingG's point of view. If PartingG quickly become an A team player or Ace after the transfer, I can see a lot of ESF player will follow suit and not extending their contract after it has expired.

Something tells me that it is either EG-TL based on history or a team that has been doing horrible with the full season of SCII instead of BW
