Very very very nice promo video. While I only know about half the players, it seems like some godly tournament that surpasses IPL GSL MLG IEM etc etc has suddely come by
I liked the one released before the group stages began better because of the song selection but this one was also great. I wish other tournaments would do this, at the very least for the pivotal point in the tournament like GSL Ro8, NASL Ro8, each new SPL round, etc.
Yep, that's the video. For people unable to see it due to being blocked, you can see it there if you wait a bit for it to load (once it actually started, it worked fine for me).
Great video, blows a lot of hype videos out of the water, and I don't even know a bunch of the players in the video.
It's been shown before, and ya it's fucking mind blowing how professional the video is. You don't need flashy shit or spectacular graphics, just look how simple and clean the video is. All the other leagues should just drop what they are doing and take some learning lessons from this video.

XiGua, MacSed, F91, Comm, LoveCD?
YEah, NSL is one of the tournaments I've been following lately, and there are som absolutely awesome games being played. Production is badass as well.
I don't understand how some tournaments don't realize that intro videos and hype packages are priceless. They are easy ways to give your players some character, make them look cool, and hype people up for the upcoming match and/or show. The main reason I even started watching Brood War was because of the old MSL/OSL videos that made these skinny, sometimes robot-like teenagers look like bad asses in the openings.
That's the thing, maybe one or two of these players at best is fringe Code A level, but it doesn't matter. This video makes them look just as bad ass as a Mvp or Flash.
Tournaments, do more video packages and intro videos. You can write a narrative and give character to almost any player if you want to.

Good old days... ;_;
Imagine how much better our western tournaments would be if they did something like this. Well.. when I say "like this" I don't necessarily mean copying the older ones from OSL/MSL or even their style of intro (although I would fucking kill to see something in the vein of EVER OSL 2007+ Show Spoiler +
) but at least have *something*. It helps so much with creating and telling a story, if you do it right. :/

Too much communism ? Why do you say that ? If it's because of the red, it's also the color of the chinese flag Edit : and they had to chose a color for their black & white + 1 color effect. Not chosing red would have been weird

There was an old thread from a couple years ago, that was complaining that Starcraft 2 needed more sex appeal. I think this may be the kind of stuff they envisioned.
Reminds me so much of the old OSL and MSL openings. They show absolutely nothing about the game and instead show off the players and that adds much more hype.
Wow, such a good promotional video. I hope they will give some english VOD (not just the stream, there scheduling for live LR will be complicated I guess), so that we can appreciate the Chinese level =)

Worked great for me after the initial bit of loading.
Great season trailer. Fitting song. Great camera work. Good editing. A+
Yeah, I remember seeing their videos a while back. This goes back to all those OSL/MSL/PL videos, which incorporated the actual players, but this one is longer and more drawn out. The players should always be front row center on your promotional materials.

If this was anywhere but China, I think Barclays would be on to them. Pretty sure Barclays have some sort of exclusivity with this song, they use it as the intro for all of their sporting events: Ford Super Sunday, ATP World Tour, etc.
However, this was really good. I thought it dragged on a bit too long, and was a little repetitive though.

Um, if you guys want, I could set up a restream for this. One of the biggest problems with the CN / TW / KR scene right now is the essence of time differences between EU / USA and these scenes.

It's funny how one of the best hype videos of all time come from a country where Starcraft isn't that popular. This was the first time I have seen a Starcraft 2 video that incorporates sex appeal and I'm not sure how I feel about it. The music and production quality really made this video for me though.
They need to get some koreans and foreigners there so we watch their tourneys too and help China grow with the rest of the scene. China has massive viewer potential it would be amazing to have them watching people's streams.

If Sen had played, then it basically would mean that everyone can go home. It would have been slaughter if Sen had played. Not a personal attack on him, but the point of this tournament was to showcase the still very good talent that China has to offer. 7-10 of their players are GM on the TW/KR server at any given time. Sen, as the 4th place BWC winner would have been too much for them to handle...
They did, however, invite his (in my mind) little Zerg brother, GamaniaSlam who is also one of my favorites.
The OP should know that promo videos of this production qaulity have been standard in korea and china for sc bw and war3 for a very long time. so no this isnt the greatest promo ever.

It's not so much that it is hard to understand. Just that your view is by and large in the miniscule minority. As you said.
Selling the player, rather than the game, seems much more profitable to me. I'd much rather see players looking cool, than a colossus shooting a bunch of zerglings, like most intros.
Basically, this is the kind of stuff that gets the majority hyped.

I think TT1 has some knowledge of BW hype vids
This is still one of the best I have seen, am definitely watching now!
Promo is well put together, and I'd agree esports as a whole could use more top end looking production like this. Not that they all don't try in their own small ways, just that there 'could' be a lot more. Somewhere I wonder if the cost to cut those vs the amount of gained by it just isn't 'there' yet.
On a complete side note I'd assume if a song is the official song they paid the artist. I mean that as well no underlying meaning there. Having used copyrighted content before it boggles my mind how you can get permission or pay to use something...then the company still has youtube block it because there seems to always be a huge disconnect between whoever monitors youtube and the people who give permission.

Whole things comes off as pretty damn metrosexual though. Is this a promo vid or a music vid? Why are players mouthing along to the music? Whoever came up with this idea was trying really, really hard.
The Chinese scene has so much potential... I really hope SC2 breaks through there eventually. That video was beyond great; really, really awesome material.

The NSL video is absolutely sick but holy shit, this one just beat everything! BTW, quickly searched on youtube if there was an HD version and here it is:

Yea, most tournaments absolutely completely fail in the hype department, you'd think that would be a pretty easy thing not to fail at with so many good examples from OSL, MSL, even TSL, ect.
As for this video, it's just tooo much. Lyrics, producers, credits, lip synching? This is more of a music video than a hype video, not to mention, a few iconic cliches that are just kind of cringy to look at. The quality is great, that's a given, the song isn't bad either... but it all just looks a little too unnatural, or maybe forced.
I really enjoyed the NSL video, but this one's insane! Looking forward to the day where these videos along with high production quality are common occurence and tournaments/teams/events put more importance into showing off the players and their storylines as means of attacting viewers... It'll come with time.

What an awesome promo vid, I do wish they atleast mentioned the word starcraft in a banner in the beginning or end so that for someone who has absolutely no idea about videogames or starcraft could relate to it but other than that so good.
Great commercial, love these kind of hype commercials or intros. I've tried to catch some games late nights when I see it in the bar. Not the best games but I like to watch these leagues to see the whole world of SC2.
Will diffidently tune in for their Finals the 18th and hopefully some others will as well! 3rd Place: LG-IM.Dreamett vs iG.MacSed Finals: iG.XiGua vs MVP.Lure
Just remember it is being concluded tonight guys. unfortunately with the technical difficulties I am facing, I may be forced to simply go with a restream.

wut.... gsl doesn't have trailers, and this chinese one overuses slowmo and copies osl intros, plus there are a ton of amazing ones, like bacchus 08 with savior + bisu-baywatch-run
@rauk > gsl doesn't have trailers Quite sure I've seen a trailer for the ongoing GSL - probably that's been fan-made then, or smth. > this chinese one overuses slowmo One can't overuse anything as long as it gets the job done. > copies osl intros I never mentioned the originality, I'm talking about the quality of the movie (content-wise the last BW OSL intro is still top1 for me). People in OSL intros look like they've been told to make some "cool moves", and film editors took it from there. In the NSL one you can see a director's work.
I'm interested in learning more about the Chinese scene and watching it, could somebody who's familiar with it help me get started? I would appreciate it!
