What's happening is NA " pro gamers " are becoming NA " semi pro gamers " and they play on the side while working other jobs or being in school, leading to low level play on average. The only way to fix this is to inject money into NA events that only NA players can join, build something competitive and sustainable. The level of play will rise by itself if people have something to strive for, if there's a NA GSL suddenly being the best in NA will make you lots of money and It's worth it to spend a lot of time training. Unfortunately in reality this is never going to happen and NA pro teams and pro gamers will die out, they've already begun to in fact.

So being paid more is bad for a player's performance? Having financial security so that players don't have to worry whether or not they can pay their rent hurts their ability or motivation to perform? I'm not really a fan of EG, but they get a lot of unwarranted shit in these forums. I'm indifferent if Polt joins them, but it would be cool to see Polt and Stephano as teammates.

Since I think most contracts are 1 year, I don't think the players want to slack off too much since they want to maintain a level where their next contract would even pay more.
