In todays broadcast of GSL ups and downs, it is revealed that b4 left prime!!!

no other info is given, i assume there will be more news later.

however now, Prime doesnt have any good zergs left!

Also confirmed by MMA as he asked b4 if he left prime, and B4 said yes.

update:
"BboongBboong," the man with the fun ID, Choi JongHyuk (24), has left the team Prime.
At the Mokdong Gom TV Studio on the 22nd of October at 6:10 PM, the Hot6ix GSL Season 5 A Up&Down Matches, he wore not his team uniform, but just a regular t-shirt. This is because JongHyuk has decided to leave prime to be a free agent.
Choi JongHyuk chose to be a free agent because he wanted to continue pursuing a different route of activities in progaming. He states, "For starters, it is absolutely not because there's a problem with the tea," leaving us only with our speculations. He continues to explain, "Because I want to continue progaming, I needed to switch my atmosphere and build up momentum,so I made this choice."
Choi JongHyuk will in the meantime practice from home, since leaving Prime. As he prepares for his upcomming leagues, he also plans to find a new team. Of course he will look at Korean teams, but he is also looking at foreign teams and wants to pick the team with the ideals closest to his gaming ideals.
Choi JongHyuk says, "I left prime with Park Waeshik the team manager'sconsent for me to leave. I have a lot of thinking and preparing to do so that in a new team I can become a new progamer. But in the meanwhile I want to thank Prime for all the help they've given me, including the team manager and workers who helped out."

I can confirm hearing it in the GSL cast.

- No Prime tag.
- Wears GomTV shirt.
- Wolf asked him and B4 confirmed.

No team shirt, and 'Prime' as part of his name in the GSL Up/Downs right now. Wolf also said MMA asked him in chat if he left Prime and apparently BBoongBBoong confirmed it.

Wolf asked B4 in-chat and he confirmed it.

He's also not wearing his prime shirt, and the 'prime' tag in his name in the player intro is gone.

I hope he didn`t leave Prime in order to join a foreign team, as, with Slayers disbanding, the market is oversaturated and it`s unlikely that he will get an offer from a top5 foreigner team.

EG going for a double pick up? MMA and B4. Wouldn't be surprising.

No reason to pick up B4. They just got Stephano and Suppy. B4 isn't a big enough name to justify signing another Zerg. If it was someone like DRG, Life, or Symbol, then yeah, could see EG throwing out the check book, but B4 will probably just go to another Korean team or try to be another somewhat-kinda-good-but-not-marketable Korean to find a foreign team.

Very unexpected. I wish him luck with his next team. I was never much of a fan of his play, but I was always a huge fan of his awesome name.

SO, which part of the fart sound are you?
I hope this is not a bad sign for prime. They didn't have any new up and coming players in the last months, do they have a healthy B-team? Otherwise they'd really need to recruit a good Z, a team without a valid option in all three races is too vulnerable in team leagues imo.

They actually did pick up some new talent in recent months, no results from them though.

From skimming through it, it seems he wants a change of environment (foreign team?)

Another player giving up because of increased competition in Korea most likely. Hopefully he finds a nice foreign team willing to send him to events, although I doubt it will be easy for him to find one just like that.

I think we will see this a bit more often with the amount of Kespa pros catching up, it must be hard to stay motivated for GSL/OSL with how many more Koreans are at the level of someone like B4.

This, we'll also see some more teams fold I'm afraid. There is just too many right now with the 8 Kespa Teams

Ahhhh....B4 will be lucky to get it if the oGs closure was anything to go by. Their ace at the time (Supernova) took ages to be picked up. Most of the remainder only just found something and a lot of them we just never heard of again.

Then again, change of environment could just mean he's looking to transfer teams more closely. Perhaps he's good friends with players in another team.

We'll see. Honestly if B4 thinks foreign teams haven't stressed their saturation point then he's mistaken.

"'BboongBboong' Choi JongHyuk Leaves Prime to be a Free-Agent"

"BboongBboong," the man with the fun ID, Choi JongHyuk (24), has left the team Prime.
At the Mokdong Gom TV Studio on the 22nd of October at 6:10 PM, the Hot6ix GSL Season 5 A Up&Down Matches, he wore not his team uniform, but just a regular t-shirt. This is because JongHyuk has decided to leave prime to be a free agent.
Choi JongHyuk chose to be a free agent because he wanted to continue pursuing a different route of activities in progaming. He states, "For starters, it is absolutely not because there's a problem with the team," leaving us only with our speculations.
But in the meanwhile I want to thank Prime for all the help they've given me, including the team manager and workers who helped out."

yeah, can't take that for granted these days. But it leaves a huge hole in the prime roster and that really concerns me.

Mmm, I tried to translate to the best of my abilities

Thanks, looks like a good ol' drama free parting of ways to me, that's good to hear at the very least.

yeah, can't take that for granted these days. But it leaves a huge hole in the prime roster and that really concerns me.

To be fair B4 hasn't been posting the results he had in the past, so i don't think Prime as a whole will suffer greatly because of it. Hell maybe it will give guys like Aria a chance to shine, finally.

Fnatic or TSL could use a good Z for once as well.

More Koreans smelling the foreign fruit, if the TiG article is correct.

Do they still think that all foreigners get paid salary and get flown to every tournament? I feel that if the ESF teams keep bleeding players like this, it won't be long before the only players left are KeSPA. Hopefully B4 switches to another Korean team, or at least a foreign team with a strong Korean presence (Fnatic, FXO etc.)

His main focus is to look at Korean teams, though he's not closed off to the idea of Foreign teams.

Well that's quite a bit loss for Prime. He was a solid player in team leagues, and they are not a very large team. This brings them down to 0 known zerg players on their team... unless I have been missing good performances by the other zergs on prime. Hopefully the team can do well... they haven't seemed to be doing much recently.

B4 and I are really good friends. I had known he had some problems recently with motivation, but I didn't think he would have left prime.

I do think its for the best though. I hope to be trying to help him find a new team, and I will be active in making sure is a foreign team approaches him, that he doesn't get scammed or cheated into a contract.

Wait..wasnt he the team captain for PRIME? If not, who is?
He is a big enough name to get into a decent foreign team tbh, just not top top tier.

I thought AnNyeong was the captain before he retired. I don't recall them ever saying publicly if they had chosen a new captain.

Thats still a pretty sick line up with those 4 alone. Maru is very very good, some of the sickest micro I've ever seen and seriously underrated. Infact the top 3 youngest players of each race in Korea are Maru (15yo) for Terran, Creator (15yo) for Protoss and Life (14yo) for zerg. We all seen what Creator and Life can do, Maru is the next big thing, especially with his Code S debut this coming season!

Safe journeys and good brackets for you, Bboongbboong. I also think it's ridiculous that you had to begin your statement with "no team problems" - but that's another couple of threadnaughts.

Hope you find your motivation, a good team, and carry on.

In the meantime, Prime m'boys, there's this guy named Dark that will be free for pick up in a couple of weeks...

Bboongbboong fighting! Prime fighting!

(But, if you happen to ever be fighting against Prime, I'm going to side with Prime because... well, it's down in the corner here.)

I wonder if it's like, players like B4 realize they have little chance to succeed in Korea with all the competition, so they figure it will be better to go to foreign tourneys instead. But they can't get travel budget to foreign tourneys because all the top-tier players on their team get the budget. (Perhaps they're recruited to help the top-tiers practice as well, which would cut into their own training time?)

Going to foreign team might not be about the salary, it might just be the only viable vector into tourneys where the competition isn't as insane as OSL/GSL?

He is 1 match away from Code S two out of last 3 seasons. While it's not exactly championship caliber he'd be the instant ace for most foreign teams.

Doubt it. They are showing result and they have unique income source besides sponsorship.
Besides, they are looking 10x better than they did most of 2011, when it was MKP + a bunch no name players.

Prime's probably the oldest Korean SC2 team out there now. As probably the oldest Team, I'd hate to see them go the way of OGS.
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

why does b4 leaving mean theyre going to disband now? did prime disband when hongun, maka, check, and polt left prime in their primes? no they got new and better players instead. now maru, creator and byun run the show with mkp. nothing to panic about. im sure tt esports isnt pulling sponsorship money over b4

The only one out of those 4 who was in good shape when they left Prime was Polt, Hongun, Maka, Check all had gone at least 2-3 months without turning any real results before they left the squad. The one player that hurts is the loss of Annyeong, I wasn't aware he retired. Thats a player that could've stepped up in the absence of Bbboongbboong.

Wow, didn't realize their team size dropped that much. Unlikely, but I wonder how if a Prime + NSHoseo merger can save the two teams. There's so much core, young talent on both squads it'd be a shame to see players splinter off.

Their team has been that size for a while now, they have always been a small team. People forget that Prime added a new protoss player called Lucy recently, who almost qualified for code a.

I understand this is first and foremost a business for progamers and they will look for opportunities to improve their (mainly financial) conditions, but I feel like so many players are switching teams there is no longer any fidelity and pride towards their gaming house, it's like being in X team no longer matters.

No reason to pick up B4. They just got Stephano and Suppy. B4 isn't a big enough name to justify signing another Zerg. If it was someone like DRG, Life, or Symbol, then yeah, could see EG throwing out the check book, but B4 will probably just go to another Korean team or try to be another somewhat-kinda-good-but-not-marketable Korean to find a foreign team.

oh no, a player is leaving a well-established, well-sponsored team with a GSTL championship and two KSL championships, they must be disbanding i guess maybe right? <-------smart people

Now that Kespa has risen I think we're going to see a lot of the fringe ESF players start to call it quits. I'm actually surprised we haven't seen a lot more of this up to this point.

ok

I just want to clear some things up. I spoke to bboong last night after his matches and I just want to clarify,

I would like it if my post was added to OP to clear some things up

Bboong is just right now loking for a change of pace. He has been in prime almost 2 years, and recently he has been having some fustration while playing, so he felt a atmosphere change would be good for him.

He isn't leaving due to any conflict within prime, nor is he looking to cash in on the foreign scene.

He is looking for a new team, but right now it doesn't matter, Korean or foreign. If a foreign team does give him an offer, I will be working with him to make sure he isn't scammed or cheated into a contract in which he is lied to. Bboong is a really good friend of mine ever since I moved into the prime house, and he treated me so kindly, that i feel a duty to him to make sure nothing bad happens to him.

He still though is looking at Korean teams, so right now he wants to make the decision of what is best for him. I will ba talking to him often to help him through stuff and to make sure he is happy. He still is good friends with everyone in prime, and that won't change. It was a mutual agreement to part ways.

I kinda understand why B4 is leaving the team. He's damn good zerg that's being overshadowed by players like MKP, Creator, Maru, Byun. if he leaves to say, Fnatic, that would maybe be ideal. Anyways, hope he finds himself a new team soon. B4 fighting!

not exactly, teams will be talking to bboong, but I will be steering him clear of bad teams and scammers. I will also be making sure he understand everything, so he won't be put in a position where he misunderstands part of any contract.

I will also be contactin some translators to make the process easier for him as well, although bboong does speak some english, a translator should be part of this process I feel.

From skimming through it, it seems he wants a change of environment (foreign team?)

Hmm that's not really the case. Looking at the Liquipedia, at the roster at the time of disbandment only 5/17 (not including Gon or TheWind) did not find anything, and 4/5 of those I had not even seen/heard of before.

No reason to pick up B4. They just got Stephano and Suppy. B4 isn't a big enough name to justify signing another Zerg. If it was someone like DRG, Life, or Symbol, then yeah, could see EG throwing out the check book, but B4 will probably just go to another Korean team or try to be another somewhat-kinda-good-but-not-marketable Korean to find a foreign team.

lol what? Bboongbboong is so good, code S material for sure, maybe top 8 and way more fun than most korean progamers. I'd say he's more marketable than Symbol at least.

The last 2 times he failed to get into code S:
- lost against ace in (one of) the best up and down game ever played
- lost against Gumiho 2-1. Literally the worst opponent he could've faced given b4 struggles the most with multi harass.

Probably the best macro zerg in the world on his day, something prime teammates attest to when he practises; your post is ignorant and insulting.

lol i am a prime fan but to say that is blind fanboyism and pure retardedness lol. B4 is nowhere near code S top 8 and definitly is NOT the best macro zerg or any aspect of zerg really in the world

Well, I consider B4 a gimmicky "allin style" zerg. I don't see much value he'll add to many teams - he's probably good enough to be around the Code Aish levels but that's about it.

B4 is ballsy in my opinion to go teamless...I personally would atleast try to find a sponsor/team before I left my old team...but that's just me . Good luck to B4 though!
