Your thoughts on taking down MC and becoming the new champion? I am ecstatic about today's victory. I was happy to be playing against SK and MC with whom we have a partnership and I'm sorry I had to take him down but this really was the best way for it to happen. You won 4:1 but was this expected? I thought it'd be 4:2 or 4:3 either way. However, the first map was one which could give you a lot of momentum with a win so that must have made it easier for me to take the series. You used the same strategy in the first two sets In Set 1, I had different strategies ready for each of the spawn spots and it happened to be close by air positions. In Set 2, I was planning to go for a warp prism rush if I saw my opponent getting greedy so as soon as I saw MC take his natural, I executed that strategy. In Set 4, you lost to MC's warp gate rush I knew my opponent was going for such a strategy but it came much earlier than I expected. I couldn't hold it because it was a 10 gate build instead of 12. MC is a solid opponent so how did you prepare for him? I'm sorry to MC for saying this but I spent the least amount of time on this match out of this entire season. In all the other matches, I made a lot of notes and analysed countless VODs but MC has such diverse play that this was difficult. So rather than the match itself, I focused more on taking care of my condition and maintaining the right mindset. It was the first outdoor match so how did it feel? Other finalists told me that I should take care of my nerves before anything else. However, I'm not one to get nervous easily so that wasn't a problem. LG-IM now has a champion of each race Before the finals, I didn't pay much attention to this. However, once I had actually won and stood alongside Nestea and MVP, the realisation hit me. I'm extra happy about the fact that our team won the GSL twice in a row since LG Electronics started sponsoring us. Jeong, Woo Seong handed out the prize so how did that feel? I feel that it's common courtesy to face someone in the eyes when you talk to them but in this case, he was so good looking that it was a bit intimidating. I'm so happy to have had the chance to talk to Mr Jeong and shake his hand. It took you one year since your début to win the championship so what do you think about that? I recently read in a self development book that if you keep imagining yourself achieving a certain goal, you can reach that goal eventually. That's why I was able to convince myself that I would win sooner or later but this was certainly sooner than I expected. I guess the book wasn't lying. Being the second Protoss GSL champion is a great achievement so how far do you think you can go? It's still too early for me to be called the new Protoss President. I think if I win the next season and the one after that, I will be worthy of the title. All I've done so far is win the preliminary vote. You won in a macro game in Set 5 so what was the secret? The secret was to use a build well suited to the map. On the other hand, that also makes the strategy the most executed on that map. This means you have to consider the possibility of being countered and taking that risk was the key to victory.
Bisu is popular because of his handsome looks and progaming prowess and many compare yourself to him I'm not even close to Bisu's level yet. Nal_ra, Bisu and Stork are legends that I still look up to and only when I have advanced my career a bit more can I be counted among them.
If you were to make a prediction for tomorrow's GSTL? I've known Choya from Starcraft 1 days. I am also close to FXO players so I hope they take the win. FXO should win since they have Leenock who I think is the best Zerg ever. However, GSTL can be very unpredictable so it's hard to make the right call. Now, you have WCG and WCS to look forward to WCG is one of my main goals. I want to do well. WCS will be held in China so I want to do well there too. It's just that you can't be guaranteed to do well in both tournaments. I'll just try my best for every match. Anything to add? First of all, I want to thank the coach and his wife for coming all the way to Busan to support me. I also want to thank the Protoss trio: YongHwa, Ready and First. Lastly, I want to thank all the other team-mates who came to Hae Woon Dae to cheer me on. I'm glad about the fact that my family was able to watch me win and want to ask my parents to wait a little bit longer because I'll soon have enough money to buy a house. Lastly, I want to wish Choya the best for GSTL and want to thank the sponsors: LG Electronics, SteelSeries, Googims, Nvidia and Coca Cola.

Total is 8 which IM also just reached... Crazy...

Thanks for translating the interview! Happy that Seed was able to win the finals.

"so as soon as I saw MC take his natural, I executed that strategy." What?MC didn't take his natural, he had double gas up, Seed trying to frame his play as reactive when it was very far from that is ironic, don't take me wrong though, even if it was just gamble after gamble, he played to win.

IM is just too damn good. They're dominating the individual leagues by far, not just the GSL.

Win a GSL, buy a house for your parents. Oh Korea

If anything taking two gases is a sign that you're getting out enough tech to take and secure an expo. In PvP at least.

Should just say that. It's a good cheese for that map though since blink builds aren't very common on it while early expansions are.

This. The reason for early DTs is not to kill but rather to be able to defend your fast expand and pressure his. Your opponents needs 2 obs before he can even think about attacking and by that time, your natural should be established with defenses. And there is no reason for Seed to lie. The games were over... I guess he could be mindgaming his next Protoss opponent but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

He had the pylon down for the proxy but not the robo yet. After placing the pylon he sent that probe to scout what MC was doing and once he realised he was being greedy, he sent the probe back to drop the robo iirc.

I just watched the game again and he didn't see anything except the 2 gas before cancelling his 2nd gas and building the proxy robo.
What I think he meant was that he saw that MC was going for a defensive, into expo build (I dunno, but DT expand builds seem to be pretty popular on that map) so maybe seeing the way MC was playing told him it was a build which was going towards an expo. Somehow... but it was still quite blind how he executed that build.

Maybe he was going for another proxy-Robo strategy? I believe that he placed down his gates after scouting the natural, so perhaps he didn't intend to go for a 4-gate WP.

And you know this because? Pro players can spot things that we cannot. 2 gases at certain timings might mean certain builds to pros. The fact that MC did expand and the fact that there was no reason for him to lie about it makes me lean towards his answer.

It was a standard gas timing, could mean literally anything. Seed probably had a good read on the build, but there's no way he "saw" that there was going to be an expansion. I'm guessing it's probably a translation thing.
|
I know this because I paid attention to the game, unlike some of you trying to disprove me without any shred of proof to hold on to, "lmao" indeed. The first thing Seed did with his probe was to put that proxy pylon down, he also didn't check the gas timing at all, he went straight for the harass, maybe he was sure it was a good build for the spectrum of possible builds that he knew MC could probably use(which is saying a lot), but saying that it was a response to an expo is stretching it.
Also, at first I thought it was just a translation issue too and was just gonna ask if he really meant that, then I just went with it god knows why.
|
I'm really pleased for Seed. He seems like such a nice, polite guy and (although obviously somewhat difficult to interpret across languages) comes off as really funny too (and in clever ways).
Loving his new look as well, especially against the black IM uniform.

seed, such a good manner champion. happy for him and his family that he can buy a house with his winnings soon. I think any one who can purchase a house at his age is successful. I mean... you'll always have a roof over your head that way. Love that he gives much respect to BW legends, the BOSS-TOSS himself, and supports his friends over at FXO. Woo!

Not sure if the pins count for anything, but Blizzard Cup is a separate event according to the Wiki. Also that would make sense considering it only consisted of 10 players and by comparison to the GSL it was a much easier feat to accomplish, even if the calibre of players was very high.
In total there have been 15 GSLs events, and IM has won 8 of them.

Thanks Sw!!! LG-IMSeed:FXO should win since they have Leenock who I think is the best Zerg ever. Wow, that's a strong statement. Someone else said something similar (in WCS winner interviews or something? don't remember) so Leenock must be even better in practice than he is already in public. Good to see, he always was a talent.

Bullshit. MMA has two GSL pins and Gom and Korean media has always referred to him as a two time winner. How the info is organized on liquipedia does not matter at all.

I liked his speech that he gave he did this for gaming and not like most for money, felt like some sort of burn also towards MC standing there. But I don't know if it was that or just generally speaking!
Congratulations Seed!

IM won over half of the gsl code s coool! LG must be glad sponsors such a team.

FXO should win since they have Leenock who I think is the best Zerg ever.

Also that would make sense considering it only consisted of 10 players and by comparison to the GSL it was a much easier feat to accomplish, even if the calibre of players was very high. In total there have been 15 GSLs events, and IM has won 8 of them. Bullshit. MMA has two GSL pins and Gom and Korean media has always referred to him as a two time winner. How the info is organized on liquipedia does not matter at all. Sorry man, but imo Blizzard Cup was not a full tournament and shouldn't be counted as a real GSL win... I know the definitions get kinda shady, that's why I also think special events should generally not be counted, only regular seasons (meaning Polt is not GSL champion and MVP having "only" three championships). Just my opinion of course, not saying MMA or Polt don't deserve it or anything.

Well that can be your opinion but clearly Gom and the Korean media considers MMA a two time GSL champion and MVP a four time GSL champion. They have been referred to as such countless times.

Sorry buddy. There is a difference between gsl champion and code s champion. Any win in a tourny sponsored by gom is a gsl victory. You're referring to code s champion.

It's a tourney (ok, only 4 persons, but still) and is sponsored by GSL, would that make Line or the Kespa Zerg whose name I forgot a GSL champion? Of course not, but the step from this to the Blizzard Cup (handful of people semi-arbitrarily invited) is not very huge, and all I'm saying is that the definition you mentioned is a bit wonky. In the end it is up to GOM of course who should be allowed to style himself a GSL champion.

Such an awesome player, I hope he won't be someone that wins the GSL and then fall off the radar.
|
1. Seed calls Leenock the best Zerg ever. 2. NesTea beats up Seed at the IM house. xD
|
lol knew seed would win. I can't remember the last time MC played a pvp in a bo5/7 series and actually won. Grats to seed!
|
What is the correlation as to why everyone thinks Leenock is the best zerg? Is he a beast in practice or am I missing something? (especially since Seed didnt say Nestea)
Good interview as well. I am happy for him.

As mentioned Gom and the Korean eSports media consider Blizzard Cup as a full event/championship. And it's not hard to see why when you consider the qualification system they had for it (and especially when you compare it to the qualification for GSL World Championship).

Well, Seed was also trying to hype up FXO with his response.

IIRC CrossAction is sponsored by gom, but not associated with gsl...

This is exactly why I love and respect this guy. Funny, smart, and polite. He can do some of the funniest ceremonies, and be really polite in other scenes. Great qualities as a person and a player. This interview shows how smart he plays the game.
But yet again, I love MC's abrasive/arrogant demeanor. Character just brings so much to the game than just winning.
