Good for her though one good tournament is enough to get offers from professional teams? Well we all have our work cut out for us then, just post a good result in a singular big tournament (her's was a fluke in my opinion) and you'll be on a team. I'm not trying to be criticle or say she's bad cause she does have skill though to be getting offers from teams like Acer and Quantic (or was it complexity?) I would think you'd need to show more then one result? But congratulations to her none the less.

Scarlett seems to be a decent enough player (constantly high GM) and proved that she can take down koreans under the right conditions. This, combined with the immense popularity that she possesses makes teams extend offers to her. Scarlett is unique in a way that most gamers are not and therefore gets offers that other gamers do not. She literally played in like 5 tournaments (only 2 were very big tournaments) and her fanclub has like 300 pages. That much popularity can be as valuable as a ton of skill to a team.

Maybe this is a new concept to people who don't watch sports at all. But this happens in every single sport in the world. Almost all new players are picked up based on their potential to thrive and not because they are already accomplished. Not to mention that teams like hype among their players and there is certainly a lot of hype for Scarlett.

Rarely is it only about results. Look at some of the most prominent players in the scene today and ask yourself if they are at the very top, if they 'deserve' to be where they are based purely on their skills. You'll find that a lot of them get by on other merits.

I don't think you realize how incredibly difficult it is to have good results at a major tournament.
