I didn't see it else where, so here it is:
The announcement

Today compLexity Gaming and Team MvP are announcing the abatement of our nearly year long partnership. This is due solely to competing sponsor products.

coL.MVP will no longer compete as a joint squad nor attend events under that name. Moving forward both organizations will continue to be informally affiliated and will work together on different initiatives when possible. Team MvP will continue to offer housing for compLexity players who desire to train in Korea.

Its not hugely surprising, sponsors are the sole lifeblood of teams, and conflicting sponsors is counter productive for both.
That being said, it seems like there will be very little change in the practical relationship, bar them no longer competing together in team leagues. MVP will still host coL players, and will still "work together on different initiatives".
It seems that foreign-korean partnerships were all the rage, but are becoming less relevant, as long as foreigners can find somewhere in Korea to stay, and as Korean teams are finding their own sponsors.

Edit: I feel like I should have put a more dramatic, Artosis-esque hype title, to get dem drama views, "Revised" isn't nearly scary enough.

I guess this means players like NaDa, GanZi, and Heart won't play GSTL with MVP.
Damn...that sucks.

Quite interesting indeed. Glad to hear it was on good terms and they'll still be working similarly.

More surprised they're staying affiliated at all then at this announcement. Although it isn't too farfetched since complexity would want to try and keep a home base in korea if they send players.
Without a community, we're all just a bunch of geeks.

Didn't Complexity just sign another deal with Sound Blaster which included money to go to MVP?

eh not really a suprise tbh as the big name sponsors / quantity of sponsors increases why would you need a partnership at all?

Does anyone know who the competing sponsors were? Minus the shared sponsors, I see on their respective TLPD pages:

MVP
Center Point - Clothing
Razer - Computer/gaming hardware

Complexity
PNY - Memory/storage
Origin - Gaming laptops
QPAD - Mouse Pads
Nation Voice - VOIP/Ventrilo services

Razer vs QPAD is the only one that stands out to me, since Razer makes mouse pads as well as typical peripheral hardware.
Show me a completely smooth operation and I'll show you a cover up. Real boats rock.

Well I guess coL won't win any foreign team league without them.

Funny enough, my first ban was because I said that this kind of agreement wasn't helping the scene.

Saw this coming, DRG hasn't been tagged up for months now, no coverage on the compLexity website of MVP players, etc. Glad to see it's finally out there.

They share Creative as a sponsor. Not sure if it were through the deal or not.

More than likely though, one of the teams have picked up a new sponsor which conflicts with existing sponsors of the other team.

its funny because in most of the cw's complexity players lose 0-2 and mvp players win their 2 games , theyre finally gonna have to pick up the slack if they want to continue to win without the help of mvp

There would also be conflict between Razer and Origin due to the RazerBlade.

Saw this coming since last MLG where drg wasn't introduced as colmvpdrg, but just as mvpdrg. His bnet name was also just mvpdrg and not colmvpdrg and also he didn't wear the split col/mvp jersey either. Complexity has a lot of their own koreans now so they most likely can't afford to fly out their own koreans plus mvp koreans to foreign events.

Too bad :/
Really like the partnership, it seemed to be working well with good interaction between the teams, unfortunate that the sponsorships conflicted.
At least the relationship will continue informally, which is important.

Creative and Razer were the conflicting sponsors, and Creative is no longer sponsoring MVP.

I think it would be bigger news is it was a messy seperation or one of the teams couldnt support themselves. But complexity has been financially stable since it began(except for right after cgs) and mvp has picled up enough sponsors not to need help flying out their guys anymore

That's a pity. Hopefully coL has acquired enough Koreans so that they can hold their own from now on.

On one hand, it's a shame to see the partnership end. Glad it seems to have ended amiacably. On the other hand, I've always found the partnership teams playing together in team leagues a bit... odd. I guess I just prefer mvp to play as mvp and complexity to play as complexity.

I don´t know about EGMCSL, but at IPLTAC3 they will compete each as it´s own team. (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IPL_Team_Arena_Challenge/3)

I would consider this more or less a side-note because I would consider it important if the teams have a practical cooperation or not. Leaving the shared name "coL-MVP" aside because of sponsors isn't such a big deal I think.
