Criticism is allowed. Undue flaming is not. Take a second to think your post through before you submit.
Bans will be handed out.
Should go without saying, but don't link restreams here either. |
The only problem I see with PPV is people not living in the US. Since I can only watch like 2 games before I have to go to bed, 20$ seems kind of much (all relative to my own economy). But then again I wouldn't hesitate if I had the chance to watch all matches since the quad view is BEASTLY public service by MLG. I would love to see MLG sell a one year pass like GSL has, even though I wouldn't buy it, a lot of my friends would.
In one week I will probably watch all the VODs since MLG let's me see them for free =)
EDIT: I think people are overexaggerating. A cinema ticket goes for like what? 11$? That's 11$ for ~2 hours of entertainment. If you can afford to go to the cinema like once a month, you could skip it the for the sake of MLG.

Those tournaments will be watched anyway in the future due to ppl who can restream. And it doesnt rly matter, if you want us to pay. Not everyone can pay those bucks, and I think its a crime to ask ppl for it. But I know you dont give a damn. You want us to do the same? You want us to disrespect you? Even GSL has a free shitty stream, but its still something. I'm watching restream and I'm happy about it. I'm thanking all of the players, who are playing there, for their passion and their skill, I'm thanking those ppl, who were put in such conditions, its not their fault its PPV. I'm watching the game, and I personally dont give a damn about mlg itself, not anymore.

MLG pay 20$ or you can gtfo. For 3 days? LOL never If you look in the MLG feedback thread comments like this can be seen: Overall it was really great, absolutely worth the bucks and I will support it in the future. Not perfect though, there is still room for improvement. For 20$ there should be no comments like this. Sorry. I expected it to be top notch. What? There should be no comments like "absolutely worth the bucks and I will support in the future?" Like...seriously what? When someone is completely satisfied with the purchase and vows to support buying more of their purchase in the future, that's BAD? Comments like this convinced me to pay the twenty bucks in round 2. Saying these comments show some sort of failure because there is "room for improvement" is a little silly. Act like you don't get it. If I would buy the MLG pass I would act like I like it and don't regret it, because humans don't like to confirm that they made a mistake. The fact that there are still complains and that they hope they will get better in the future is bad and shows that the product is not final. For 20$ it better be polished. So you honestly believe that because it was ppv there should be absolutely no room for improvement at all, meaning the event is perfect in every aspect of the word? Those are some realistic expectations.
Not of the PPV but for the 20$. The higher the price the higher the expectations. I wouldn't buy a Ferrari to realize that the dvd player is not functioning well and say : Oh whell, it's worth the money but there is room for improvement.

MLG should start thinking about putting a PPV-EU-Arena with around the same players but in Europe or at least at times that are good for Europe and see if there are more viewers/payers then... i really wanted to buy it but it starts at midnight till 5 or 6 in the morning which is just not doable.. if it would have started 1800/1900CET i am sure to have bought it and i think the European market is a lot bigger for this then the US-market

Sounds like you guys had fun.
Sadly I couldn't justify the price tag.
Look forward to someone making a poll at end of weekend for the viewers to advise whether it was worth the cash and more importantly how often would they be willing to pay this amount? Once a quarter, month or fortnight?

P.s. please only answer if you have the PPV, it may be tempting to try and trash MLG and their PPV decision by voting not worth it, but I think we can all be interested in hearing feedback from those actually watching.
Don't know if you can trust this poll but here you go.....

Dude, read the freaking feedback thread. They are not talking about adding new features, but making the ones they promised work. 1080p didn't even work for most of the people because of lag.

Yesterday's preshow and 1st game were awesome. All I can say as someone who could not afford it: VOD will be released for free one week after the end of the competition Sweet, I will be able to watch this greatly produced event later for free and I will not be screwing up my sleeping for five days. I hope there will be ads on the vods, so that my 1 view can at least contribute something. We won't know until after the event, but it seems like there may have been enough passes sold ,which would be awesome. I personally feel the opposite of what was said about a lower price, 20 is an imposing number and lowering it to 10-15 may actually more than double sales. In any case one data point is not enough for a result so MLG will probably experiment further the next time they do an arena event, and by the looks of it they won't get smacked down so hard now that they just abandon it.
|
Like so many others I too would like to buy the PPV, bit an event that starts at midnight is just a tad too late. 10pm and It'd have been fine. I hope MLG could schedule future Arenas just somewhat earlier to let EU watch also!
|
Can't see the difference between these two options:
"Entertaining, but probably won't buy again unless cheaper" = "Feel like it wasn't worth it, won't buy again"
In any case you bet a top SC2 event is entertaining, but in both cases you won't buy again, which actually means it wasn't worth it this time either (otherwise you would buy again).

Make it fit with everyone's schedule!
You can't cater to everyone.

what is Sundance DiGiovanni email, so i can give feedback to him?
I myself think from the demo stream, that is one of the best tournaments available, and great production.
But I will not buy the pass because is too expensive. I have been outpriced. I would only pay comfortably $10.

Europe is a big bitter market then Australia, thats why they should not make it so Australians can watch after coming home from work/school but make it that way for Europe

Now just compare the size of the EU market with the Australian one... I know you can't cater to everyone, but catering, at least a bit, to the biggest foreign SC2 market is not that bad of an idea.

Its all about money and the most money can be taken in the EU so it would be "normal" to put everything on eu time

As long as the EU tournaments are on a weekend, the times aren't really bad for US viewers. The deciding games will take place in the morning/afternoon US time, can't see how that is bad.
|
Not to mention how much more convenient it is to also make the times acceptable to EU. Instead of starting the event at 6pm i NY (Midnight GMT+1) Just have it start at 4pm NY, 10PM GMT+1. I would watch an event 10pm - 3am. I wouldnt watch 12pm - 5am. Those 2hours make all the differance.

If you have a 1.5 mbit dsl connection, you won't be able to play 1080p (with good quality), 720p is a stretch sometimes. Our broadband in the US sucks, especially in the midwest-west rural states.
In my area, high speed dsl, being 7-20 mbits was available just this last year. Not everyone has access to cable, and there are still large chunks of area without upgraded phone lines.
