Hello TL~ (Mod's if this isn't allowed I apologise in advance but I thought this would be a special case because of it being [Shield] clan going to SC2.) It is my pleasure to tell you all that [Shield] clan from Brood War is in Star Craft 2 now on the KR server. I have been working on helping the players with setting up they're streams to stream for the people here @ TL.
So far there is 2 korean Streamers from [Shield] SC2 , but there will be more to come, I am not including myself as I am not korean and was not in [Shield] in BW. If you are curious, what and who was [Shield] in BroodWar? Well...

:-P [Shield] was and is still a very good clan from Brood War that had a lot of gosu pro gamers like Bisu, but dont worry BW fans, Bisu isn't coming to SC2(yet? :-? ) Anyways... wanted to get this out there and not wait because these are very cool guys and really good players as well.

Everyone's talking about the BW pro's coming to SC2, but watching this is (at least for me) confirmation this is REALLY going to make a difference. Any protoss players should watch scar's simcity vs banelings, I've never seen anything comparable in SC2 before.

The only one i can remember is Hyun and once again when i look at the names of this clan, i cannot see even 1 zerg.

Let me make this very clear. Guilds are very different from pro teams.
You can be affiliated to both and in many cases several players belong to more than one Korean guild.

I'm pretty sure they can ask the mods/admins and they will help them, or get someone to help if they can't speak English well. TL is pretty helping when it comes to people coming from BW scene.

did they just have clans at first before sc became an esport, and they just kept their clan tags even when they got into teams?
and/or maybe they practice with both their teams and clans? (clans being broader and less formal?)

I think you got it correct. Also IIRC, clans are usually the training grounds for amateurs who are looking to get into progamer and I believe have their own training houses. For instance, the [Name] clan used to have a training house which is now the Incredible Miracle team house (the coach of IM used to be the head of [Name])

As a fan of [Shield] this is a neat development. Hopefully that means Fanta is going to play SC2, he was one of the most talented amateur Terran players in BW.

Um, in the post you linked he only said Bisu doesn't play SC2. It was already known that JD is playing SC2.
