We are a featured group so come join us in the SC2Improve in-game group (Quick link : starcraft://group/2/611)SC2Improve WebsiteOur HistorySC2Improve is a practice/strategy channel created in December 2011 by me, Wardí, as a place for players on the EU Battle Net Server to find practice partners, discuss strategies, test out build orders and to maximise the social factor of Starcraft 2. Originally the group was for Gold to Diamond players but as time went on the skill level rose and soon the channel was occupied by players of all leagues. The group grew like wildfire and before long the SC2Improve Weekly was born - a weekly tournament with a small £5 cash prize to promote friendly competition within SC2Improve. SC2Improve also held the SC2Improve Summer League 2012 and SC2Improve Winter League 2012/2013, slowly growing the tournament prize pool and player number. Currently SC2Improve runs the £400 SC2Improve Summer League 2013 which has had over 500 individual participants taking part. It it's prime time the channel peaked at 100 members everyday, but in the end of WoL the channel started to empty. With the release of the Group System in HotS the SC2Improve Group became a popular place for players to convene and was soon set as a featured Group in the Blizzard Group system - bringing many new members and activity not previously seen. Our GoalOur goal is to provide players with something we feel has been hugely missing from Starcraft 2 - social interaction with other players in numerous ways. We encourage players to come together to discuss builds and strategies and to play with each other to improve their skills so that Starcraft isn't just about hitting that find match button. We aim to be a place in Starcraft where people can come and enjoy a joke with some friends, or people they have never spoken to before, as well as a place people can come to find help in progressing their play. To reach this goal we continue to host events to bring players together as well as making sure to keep our in-game group chat modded as best we can so that players see less advertisements, spam and trolling and more discussion, gameplay and strategy. How to Get InvolvedIt's simple! SC2Improve welcomes anybody and everybody providing you are able to apply common sense and have a generally positive attitude! All you have to do is jump straight into our in-game Group and you will find everything you need from links to our events, updates on what is going on as well as a chat full of players looking to improve, meet new people and enjoy Starcraft together. How to find our in-game group? Either use this quick-link : starcraft://group/2/611 or head into your Starcraft Client, open the Groups Tab (bottom right, next to Friend List) and either type in SC2Improve in the search or scroll through the featured groups list until you find us. That's all there is to it! From here you can decide how involved you want to get - you can sign-up to our website and follow us on Twitter/Facebook to make sure you don't miss any of our events or you can simply chill in the chat and get involved in the conversation. Most of our events are open to everybody and we encourage low leagued players to give everything a shot - there is much to learn even by losing in the first round against a Masters player - and who knows, maybe they will give you some tips or go over the replay with you. Get in Touch!Confused? Scared? Don't know where to begin? If you need any help or have any further questions about who we are or what we do then please do not hesitate to get in contact with us at sc2improve@gmail.com , by PMing Wardí.142 in-game or by leaving a reply right here! We hope to see you soon in the SC2Improve Group and until then Good Luck and Have Fun! Wardí + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5343/sc2i2merge.png) Our old channel is now back up and running! Head on over to sc2improve to join in the fun! Hello and welcome to the SC2Improve thread here on TL. SC2Improve is an EU group which started up from me and a couple of other players who really enjoyed playing a lot of games together and became really good friends through the game. As time went on we went through numerous new players who would stick around and play for a day or two and would then never play with us again. As our skill levels began to differ we decided we really needed some kind of group with a variety of skill levels, not only to help each other improve but also to socialise and to meet more people interested in the game. I started this post one morning after getting bored of having to continuously scroll through the Practice Partner thread searching for new people to play with. The idea was apparently love and the channel on Battle Net began filling up more than I ever could have expected. These days we hit 80 players every day at peak times, and having seen so much interest in a community/group such as this I have tried my best to form a community for this group, introducing weekly tournaments, a team, practice sessions as well as a website, forums and a Ventrilo server. So that's a bit of of background on us, but what do we actually do, and what is the point in coming to join us? We are a group which now ranges through all leagues of play. Having started as Gold to Diamond we now have players hitting masters as well as newer players hearing about us and joining us in bronze. By providing forums and a VoIP server I feel we allow the players to communicate and get to know each other while having fun playing the game that we all love, Starcraft 2. This is the most important aspect to me: meeting new people. Meeting new people and having a group of friends to motivate me encouraged me to ladder, play a lot of games and got me promoted from Gold to Diamond. By having such a great social atmosphere there are also often fun custom games such as Star Strikers played in the group, as well as the possibility to play other games with the people you meet here. Most recently a few guys have started playing League of Legends together and it is just amazing to see this friendship being created in the group. Improving at the game is obviously another main point of the group and we do numerous things to encourage this such as offering a place on the forums for your replays to be analysed, a tournament each week where your games could be casted and also the chat channel in game is full of players who are always willing to help out and discuss strategies, compositions and ways to improve. Often players well spectate each others customs which again allows for discussion and advice to come out of every game. By running a weekly tournament, which now has a $5 prize, it gives something that everybody can aim to improve in. By setting a target of making it into the third round next week I feel it motivates players to play more and improve. It is also amazing to see rivalries being formed after tournaments each week and it also allows you to play with people you may not usually get to play with; you never know, maybe the guy who knocks you out in the first round this week will be the perfect practice buddy for you! Frequent King of the Hills also occur, not neccesarily made up by me, but just by the players who decide they want something to do, and PeepModes are an awesome way of getting a group of players together to observe and play. Recently we introduced a team to SC2Improve, appropiately named "Team SC2Improve". By giving the group a team to get behind it really brings us together as a group and also something that players can strive to be a part of. The group is also a great place to find things to do when you are a bit too tired to hit up that ladder or to try out your new build. Clan wars of our team are going to be frequently casted, on top of our weekly tournament which is also already casted each week so that you guys can enjoy the tournament even if you get knocked down early. It's also a great way to encourage players to play their best and to get support from the group. By being around the group you will also find numerous player streams to watch. Sometimes the best way to improve is not to copy the Pro's, but maybe watch someone a league or two above you and see what they do that you don't. Team Practice is also streamed fairly frequently allowing everyone to join in and see what the Team gets up to and be a part of it, while at the same time learning from the discussions and advice given in games. So that's what we do and why you should come and join us. To finish off I'll just say this is ran by me, Wardí.142 on EU, and only me. This allows me to get very involved with your suggestions and feedback on what you want to see out of the group which will make it a better place for you to practice. I love it when people come back to me and say "Hey, I love what you're doing, but do you think you could do a bit more of this?" - because it gives me something to improve and look into and it will probably end up being beneficial for everybody. So if you're interested in checking us out please drop by our chat channel on EU: sc2improve Or drop me a PM on here or ingame Wardí.142 for more info regarding the website/forums etc Hope to see many new faces joining us soon and having some fun! Glhf! Wardí TLDR: All league practice group. Weekly tournament. Great fun + Great People EU Chat Channel: sc2improve Old Post: + Show Spoiler +ChatChannel: sc2improve Just join the chat - people will be in there Didn't know if this is the right place for this thread, but having seen the "Diamond+; come practice" thread I assume it is alright to put this here. New Edit: We currently hit over 80 members in the channel every day at peak times; run a weekly tournament and also frequent practice focused custom games where players are encouraged to join the Mumble Server for discussion and analysis of games. We now have a range of players from Bronze through to Masters/High Diamond, so please if this sounds like something that you're interested in come by and say hello! OP: So for the last few weeks me and a couple of other starcraft friends, who met through the practice partner thread in these forums, started expanding our practice partner group so we had a variety of players to practice with etc. We now have a website and a forums of our own that we are trying to make use of to best thrive as a group aswell as a mumble server that can be used when practicing to discuss strategies and games, as well as just for general use when playing fun customs or chatting while laddering. We also have a chat channel, sc2improve, in starcraft. There are a range of skill levels from gold through to now low diamond (we recently expanded up to low diamond due to some of the higher plats meeting diamond on ladder) however if you're above this and are just looking for some guys to play some games with anyways you are also welcome to join. We woud like to include anybody who is well mannered, up for a laugh and also up for improving at starcraft. So if you're interested give me a shout ingame Wardí 142, note there is an accent on the i!! I can give you the website details and so on from there, or even just jump into our starcraft chat channel (sc2improve). Really hoping that I can boost our little practice group/mini community with this thread . .

There is, it's called sc2improve. It is in the original post (end of second paragraph). The idea of the site/forums is just to try and bring people together as a group and get to know each other and to create a nice atmosphere to play starcraft in.

Happy New Year!
Just a quick update on how the group is going for anyone still looking to join.
-We are now Gold -> Diamond - after such a huge response including a lot of diamond players we feel like we now have players who cover all leagues up to high diamond. We will possibly look to expand to low-mid masters when we see some people getting promoted and getting more demand for it. -We are looking for suggestions on events/practice sessions we can set up for the group, all suggestions are welcomed on the website or to me. -We currently reach 50+ players in the channel everyday and we want to push this to continue to grow so that there are more players for you guys to practice with and also more players to participate in our events! -We really want to push the social aspect of this group. For me the inspiration to run this and to continue playing Starcraft has come from a few guys who I'll chat with on Skype/Mumble every day. I want to push the idea that more of you should come join us on Mumble and have a laugh/discuss your practice games. Same goes with our forums - I want to use these as a place the group can come together and get help on aspects of their game, discuss their replays with in the group etc.
So if the above sounds even more awesome than just a group of people playing games - come check us out and join the chat channel sc2improve. Hope you see our numbers increase over the new year

I'm currently a diamond zerg but platinium with my other races, i can offer some little advices for zerg and play as a practice partner with my off-race
DiKs 292 Diamond Zerg Platinium Terran and protoss

As this guy said, the channel is still strong usually hitting 70ish players every day at peak time. We're working on a new website and new ideas for in-group tournaments to make practice a bit more interesting
GLHF to all the new guys joining the channel!
|
Hi I would be very keen on some practice matches.
Im a mid diamond toss/terran and also a decent high plat zerg.
CasualKilla: 712
anyone interested in some PvT practice give me a shout (need terran opponent!)

Cort.804 High Diamond Terran.
Intersted in offracing as zerg at lower level.

Update Time!
-We are going to begin running a tournament once a week within the group, just to create a more tight-knit group where more people know each other and can meet a variety of players to play with. -To go along with this idea of meeting and getting to know people within the group we are also pushing to get more people using our Mumble (Voice Chat) server, where you are free to discuss games, replays, tournaments or just to enjoy some socialising with others who share a similar interest to you.
We also have quite a few big plans coming up including new forums etc but there is only so much set in stone for now.
Hope to see some new faces joining in, glhf!
|
I support this initiative! Will join your group straight away!
|
So it's almost been a month since I gave a little update to this:
-We have so far ran 3 Weekly tournaments of 16+ players, the most being last week where 24 players entered. Tomorrow will be our fourth weekly. -We now have a team who will be looking to participate in clan wars etc. -We now run practice customs, where everyone is encouraged to come on mumble and discuss games during and after, with the hope of this being a more focused practice session for people to find things to improve on -We are now regularly hitting over 80 people in the channel again each day and usually our Mumble has 10 or more people on.
I hope to see more new faces around soon
|
hm i will join this channel, i used to play zerg but got so frustrated by how dumb the matchups are. There are so many allin builds that protoss and terran can do to you that it is impossible to list them all, and zvz is a coinflip. And the worst thing even after Terran allined and was basically dead they dragged out the game even longer because there could have been a chance that i still mess up with a 20 drone lead to him. Therefore my games as zerg were always like either very short 5-8 mins because i died to an allin or 20min+. That is the main reason I stopped laddering for a kinda long period of time(like 7months) and now i want to restart with protoss but i don't really know how good my protoss is.
I want to play protoss because you can get away with only one build in each matchup for the start and add on more developed builds later which allows me to focus on improving my mechanics first and and refine a few builds. You also have control over your matchups and you are not just the playball of your opponent like you are as a zerg.
|
Sick good group, getting great practice. Its always around 70~ people in the channel
|
This is a cool idea, keep it up, i'll pop into the channel ^^
|
I really like this so i think i am joining
|
|
Just jump in the channel to join in guys; give me a PM Wardí.142 if there are any issues/questions
|
hi I would like to switch to zerg (gold terran right now)
Muema 625
|
Come drop by! Very good group if you want to play customs instead of ladder. Also a weekly tournament for people interested in that! Also the level of players is a bit higher now, its more like plat-master I'd say
|
Little Update -
-We are soon going to look to expanding and advertising to masters players. -We have a $5 prize for our weekly tournament. -We now run Gold/Plat Round Robins with cash prizes. -Currently setting up a lower leagued team (Gold/Plat)
Hope everyone is doing well and hope some of you join us in our channel, sc2improve. Have a nice day!

I win 80% of my zvz. I must be a pretty damn good coin flipper.
|
Glad to see new people coming We hit 90 people in the channel yesterday which was amazing to see!
|
As someone (a zerg) who looses most games to early aggression like 11/11 and cheeses like pylon wall at my ramp its hard too find anyone willing to practice it.
This is what i face everytime i ladder and i dont have enough experience with it. Cant really find anyone to grind out games practicing something so specific.
phrenzy.284
In return i can offer macro games.
|
Amazing to see maxed out channel at peak times! If you have trouble joining the channel you will usually get in when someone leaves if you spam to join. We will look into making a second channel and seeing if having a second channel will work for the peak times.
|
Wow really great idea. I am in.
|
Hi started joining the channel recently but it wont let me join for some reason.
If you can reply telling me the problem it would be greatly appreciated

If you can reply telling me the problem it would be greatly appreciated Ya, i get the same thing. Network error.
|
Network error for me too. Can join other channels.
|
Yup, network error.
Is it a bugg? Perhaps make a new channel, Wardi? =)
|
It's possibly because the channel is reaching 100 members quite frequently? (i.e full) Unless that gives a different error message?
|
Yeah, same problem here as well. There is a different error message when a channel is full, and, even though I can't check if sc2improve is full at the moment, I also tried at like 11 in the morning when it's always extremely empty and got the same error message. It looks like a bug or something - really weird part is that I can join any other chat channel just fine.
|
Hey guys -
Our channel is down. No idea why, what is causing it or anything. I posted on Bnet forums but no response, not even a view on the post. Every other channel is working fine.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what to do, please PM me. Until this is fixed I suppose join sc2improve2 which works perfectly fine.
Other posts on the issue have no help for it, and seems the issue just resolved itself. So basically waiting to see what we can do.
Sorry for any inconvenience to anyone and hopefully this gets sorted soon as it's a bit sucky after having so much success this week.
Thank you for understanding.
Edit: If you PM me and have it set to not accepting PMs from people who aren't friends, then either add me to friends or turn that stupid option off if you want a reply. Thanks.

So Monday is fast approaching, which means SC2Improve Weekly 10 is just around the corner!

Well the least they could do is split the prize money more evenly to make it more fair.
How about $2.00 first prize, $1.00 second prize, and $0.50 for third, fourth, fifth and sixth prize.

It's pretty fair - the best player on the day gets the reward. As you already said it's not that much so can you imagine how pointless it would be handing out smaller amounts across more people? It kind of counters your argument in the first place This is meant to be for fun, the money is just an added extra to add a little bit more of a competitive edge!
And to all the new players - Welcome and hope to see you all around the SC2Improve Channel soon!

It is pretty fair, but wouldn't it be funner if players finishing in fourth-sixth could afford to buy two gumballs?
Are there still 25 cent gumball machines? I don't think they've been adjusted for infaltion in quite some time. I'd think soon it would be 25 cent + 10 cent or something.
So yeah 1 or 2 gumballs.

Who cares about a gum all? Fairest if the person who plays best actually has something notable rather than coppers. Doubt any of us die hard sc2improvers care about the money at all anyway, I know I don't, I'd donate it to charity.

Been vaguely aware of this group for a while but never really thought about this... I wonder how similar this is to the clans (not teams, but sometimes they create teams... I think) in Korea. Well whatever it's cool as hell. Perhaps at some point in the future I can get my time organised around a decent amount of SC2 -sometimes after D3 release probably >_<- I'll join up, it sounds great. Or hell, maybe just lurking and doing some obsing on the quiet instead of watching GSL.

I've been using this group for a while now. First as a warmup because of a longer break, and then for focused PvZ practice. It's full of friendly and helpful people, if you want to improve, it's a good move.
If you can catch me on there, I'll be more than willing to help with anything toss related. danakaz.102 And I know there are both terrans and zergs willing to help as well.

ooh.. do you have members/players in KR too? i'd like to play in EU but the latency is terrible from over here. i play in KR mainly, i also play in SEA and NA but i have the best connection to KR from here. this group looks promising

Currently we're only EU however over the Summer we might be expanding to NA. If we do expand it would be to NA before others and it'd be quite a big thing (as currently I run everything) and so a KR/SEA group will probably not be up for a while.

with the new all leagues are allowed system its getting pretty hard for lower league players to reach even the top 8. on long time term this will make lower league players dissapear sooner or later... do you hv any ideas how to keep those lower league players motivated to participate in that weekly tourney... for sure we all play those tournaments to improve, but as a gold league (or lower) player u may get very dissapointed if you´re keep losing the first round to some dia/master players every week... any ideas?

If I remember your name correctly, I think you are in Masters league. Aren't you? So it might be the case that this simple fact scares people off. As far as I know the majority of players in the sc2improve channel are Platinum and lower and may do not want to play against people ranked so high ;-) At least that is the case for me.
Also at the moment there are far less people hanging around than in the first half of the year - this hopefully changes when Wardi has time to organize more frequent tourneys and the summer league finals finally take place.

tournament was great fun even tho i lost. lost to diamond toss and im a silver terran tho but yeah, will check out the chat more often, interested in playin more

Just saw the post up. I love these kind of groups, I already am a member of one (something like this). Is it illegal to join 2? Would love to come in and chat/play with you guys. I like how players form these initiatives to improve.
I am a silver Zerg from the netherlands.
MFAlvarion #710 (MF as in Mixed Fruit, not Mindfreak...Mixed Fruit is the other initiative)
Im a bit on the casual side as i have alot going on in reeal life at the moment, but I still love to play

Hello!
can someone post his/her experience with this group? I'm espeically interested in hearing about group practices.
I'm more of a casual player, so I would like to know if those are also welcome in the group!

Hello, I've been with the group for well over 9 months now and I must say its a great practice environment. There are people always looking for games, willing to practice and give advice. Discussions run around the clock regarding either strategies or tournaments.
If you are having trouble its easy to find someone to ask for advice or help, the masters and diamond players are usually happy enough too look over a replay with you and point out what you did wrong and what you can improve on, as well as just give you some basic pointers, recommend certain BOs etc. Of course like with all communities you'll have some black sheep here and there, but in general everyone is great, both for practice and for advice.
