I played from the rounds of 16 to the semi-finals today. I could not sleep too much last night so I was really drowsy. The worst of all I won 2:1 in the RO16 and RO8 so I was pretty anxious. I am just glad that I made into the finals.
Q : Was your drowsiness the reason for the difficult series before the semi-finals?
That is the one reason. But foreign players really well. I actually was surprised while I was playing. Fortunately, I got lucky so came out fine at the end.
Q : MKP and SuperNoVa fell out earlier than expected at rounds of 8.
When I heard about that I was also shocked. I did not expect them to be knocked out so I just didn't know what to say. But after all Korean players were knocked out, it made me eager to get a gold medal even more. I thought the finals would be between Korean players but now I am the only one, I must get the gold medal.
Q : What is your analysis on bad performance of Korean players?
They analysed our play styles really well. Our style and strategies are very exposed from participating in GSL. I heard SuperNoVa started the game with a disadvantage, SuperNoVa went for a safe build every time while his opponent went for a risky economical build so won against SuperNoVa. For MKP, his opponent knew MKP's aggression timing well and defended too well.
Q : You won 2:0 in the semi-finals. How do you feel?
My opponent was the one who knocked out MKP. So I watched their games and was able to figure out what sort of style my opponent has.
Q : You will face a Chinese player, Wang Lei, in the finals. What is your prediction?
I haven't met him in a tournament before. But I have faced him on a ladder before and he was a very good player. When I saw the list of players who are in the semi-finals, I knew he would come to the finals. It will be a hard series but I am confident that I can take the medal.
Q : If you win a gold medal at MLG, Polt will get into BlizzCup.
Polt already told me over Twitter. He said do well so I get the gold medal so he can get into BlizzCup.
Q : Tell us how determined you are for the finals.
I will make sure that I will get a good sleep tonight so I can participate with good conditions. I am the last player representing Korea so I shall win against the Chinese player and get my gold medal.
Also there are netizens who are bashing MKP and SuperNoVa. They are very defeated and depressed about it. If you are not going to cheer them up, I hope you don't even say a thing. I was also very sad when I heard about them being knocked out. Both players' parents also visited to cheer them up, they are disappointed about the loss and I am sure they will feel sadder if you bash them on the Internet.
Q : How do you feel after getting your first gold medal?
I lost 2:1 to Fly at Super match yesterday. I know I played on a laptop but the games were so bad and I felt bad. I thought about winning him on the main stage and spent a large amount of money (approx. $15 lol) and got myself a mobile internet subscription to analyse the replays. I picked up many things from the replays which helped me a lot today.
Q : All your opponents were Chinese from the full-league group qualifiers. If you pick impressive games, what games will you pick?
All games were impressive. I liked playing against Chinese players and all matches were extremely fun. Semi-finals and the finals were also fun
Q : When Moon got knocked out, you were getting all the attentions. Didn't you find them burdensome?
To be honest, I don't really have that much of professionalism (laughs). I am more laid back and more of freestyle person. I just enjoy my matches. Moon being knocked out of the tournament didn't really affect me. Moon also just told me to do well and didn't say anything more.
Q : Two Warcraft 3 gold medals in a row for Korea. Did you expect yourself to get a gold medal?
I was not practising Warcraft 3 that much few months ago. There was a Starcraft 2 tournament in China that had a prize money 150000 yuan. I was able to win that tournament but during that time I didn't practice Warcraft 3 at all. I only started to play Warcraft 3 after that tournament so I could not win anyone any more. Plays that I was able to do before were not possible any more because I played too much Starcraft 2 so I was in a slump. I even read articles where Chinese players commented that I am not the same any more. I told myself that I lost on purpose and comforted myself so I actually didn't expect myself getting a gold medal.
Q : Did living in China helped you to get a gold medal?
I have been living in China for a bit but since I didn't participate in tournaments, living in China didn't help much.
Q : You are playing both Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3. What is your priority in the future?
There is another reason why I am living in China. I also am intending to study. If I want to play Starcraft 2, I think repeated practice sessions in a pro Korean team is needed. But I don't think that will fit my personality. I am pretty old now and am preparing for my future. So I will just focus on playing Warcraft 3 and play Starcraft 2 as a hobby. Because if I was to play Starcraft 2 also I don't think I will have enough time.
Q : Are you confident of winning WCG2012 also?
If Moon participates in WCG next year I wish he gets a gold medal. I think I am greedy but others tell my that I am not. Sung-Sik KIM won the gold medal last year, and I got the gold medal this year so if Moon gets his gold medal next year we will all have a gold medal. But if I play him in the finals, I won't take it easy. I will try my best.
Q : If you have any last words, tell us
It is like having a dream. I didn't know that I could win so it feels like a dream. I made a blunder in the first game so I panicked enough to get my APM affected. I know I was in the bad position but something helped me. My great grandmother passed away this year, she was a lovely person who looked after me. My games didn't go that well since she passed away but today I believe she helped me from the Heaven.

GO MVP
Why the koreans netizens/fans always seem mean in interviews? Like fOrGG said he had no fans anymore, Mvp says that he is hated by the fans and now Supernova and MKP are bashed because they lost against foreigners -;-. edit : seriously it seems that they are like french fans, hey Stephano wins major tourneys in a row, he is praised and hyped up like never before by french fans, then he loses in dreamhack against "NaNiwa" and "Sheth" and he is nearly hated / "overrated arrogant kid" by half our community. Kinda sad :/ I will cheer for you even more Mvp :D even if I want XiGua to win as well your attitude towards MKP & Supernova is admirable
I love so much how MVP is defending his friends from the netizens who are being harsh to them right now. He knows first hand how bad it gets when you have an execpected loss and the world turns against you. There was a twitter chat a week or so ago between him, MC and Nestea, talking about how they hate immediately being called has beens or goners for losing one series or being knocked out of a tournament earlier than expected. they all felt fans are too quick to cast the players aside etc.
Other than that the rest of the interview was pretty standard but good overall. I hope MVP can take that gold medal he wants so badly.
MVP is such a nice guy, defending his Terran children from the netizens. I love MVP not just for his play but also for his defense to his friends, such an awesome guy. I hope he can take home gold for Korea once more.
OMG that interview makes lyn sounds so humble and sweet and I want to hug him. It's so cool that he took his supermatch loss and turned it into a chance to study Fly's play and review his own to look for improvement points. I hope only the best for him next year in everythign he pursues in his life ^-^ .
I guess there's just as much trolls and haters among Korean netizens as there are anywhere else, but maybe they get ... taken more seroiusly over there? I don't know.

Honestly from what I've seen, there's a lot less korean fans in Korea and most SC2 player fans are foreigners. I also feel they're less loyal because they won't be hardcore fans like BW because sc2 isn't as big over there.
MVP such a cool guy, I'll be sure to cheer for him in the finals (or in my case probably when I watch the vod ). I feel like Korean SC2 fans don't really have favorites they just cheer for however is doing well. Ah well when the huge switch from BW to SC2 comes a lot of the really dedicated fans will come as well.
Also I'm not saying I want that switch to happen, it's just more that it will happen eventually I'd rather watch OSL/PL go on forever in BW.
And wow, Korean netizens seem to be assholes. I'm always hearing about how they're bashing some player for something that even we wouldn't get angry about.

dont refere to them its just some buch of dumb kids who overreact its common to every community, though its quite sad for sure...
I don't think it's a cultural thing. Trolls exist no matter wherever you go. But one thing that I like to point out is that people seem to take trolling on the Internet bit more seriously in Korea.
People are surprised about people hating on players on the internet?
I mean, read any live report thread. I would imagine Korean pros mention it more is because they read forums more and/or their forums are less moderated than TL. How many non-Korean pros would want to click through live report threads?
Edit: forgot to mention those were actually nice interviews. It's always interesting to get some player perspective. Also good to see Lyn is thinking about his future.
there are trolls everywhere that u go, its up to people like MVP to take a stand and defend those being hurt though. go MVP =D. take that gold and blizzcon ^^
