+ Show Spoiler [Winner of Oz vs Jjakji] +JjakjiSource - http://thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=957199&category=13439Q: You've advanced to your career first Code S finals. How do you feel?A: When I advanced to the finals, I was so happy that it seemed like I would cry. But since today's games were generally strange, I'm not sure how I feel about that. Maybe in a while after I go back to the teamhouse, I will be able to express my feelings properly. Q: It was also your first Round of 4. While practicing, what thing did you focus on the most?A: Oz's early-mid game attacks are strong and he is aggressive. During the course of practice, my winrate wasn't good so I didn't feel very confident. But because my Round of 8 match was based on strategies, I thought that I could give Oz a headache [T/N confuse him with strategic moves] Q: Was your experience playing a Protoss in the Round of 8 helpful this time?A: It was helpful. But since I used all my good builds in the Round of 8, things became harder. Up to yesterday I kept worrying, but as expected Oz didn't play normally. So I was able to win more easily. Q: Would you say it would have become difficult if Oz used standard play?A: Yes. Playing against standard play was difficult. I used standard play in practice but since the maps were bad for the early game, I was worried about games 1 and 2. But Oz used phoenixes in the first game. Since it became a situation that I absolutely couldn't lose, the start was good. Q: Oz caught up with your score each game. How did you feel when that happened?A: In the second game, since Oz used more strategic play than I expected, I lost. But I didn't feel burdened. In the fourth game too, I thought a similar strategy would come, but I got flustered so I made mistakes. The two losses weren't both lethal defeats. Rather than feeling like I lost in vain, I felt like I hadn't played games. Q: The fifth game of Bel'Shir Beach went into the mid-late game. Was it the most difficult game?A: I was thinking about Oz's style and it went as I thought. I thought I would absolutely win if I attacked before psionic storm got researched. It was the longest game, but it wasn't difficult. Q: After the Round of 8, it seems like things changed. Was anything different?A: Isn't the Round of 4 the round where if you win it's the finals, and if you lose it's nothing? I was really burdened, but I thought that even if I lost it wouldn't hurt. So because of that, I wasn't anxious and I didn't feel burdened. The pressure I felt in broadcast games disappeared. In the past, if I lost I started to shake and I lost confidence in my play, but now I was able to completely believe in myself. Q: Who do you hope advances to the finals?A: I definitely hope Leenock advances. I've lost to MVP so I have to get revenge, but I will also get revenge against Leenock. And I think the fans don't especially like TvT finals (laughs). I hope that Leenock can advance so the finals will be an interesting show. Q: What do you think are your chances of winning?A: If I just practice well, maybe 50%? Because the games in the Round of 4 weren't fun, I want to win the finals while having interesting games. Q: This will be your first time preparing for a finals. Are you worried?A: This is my first Best of 7 and I have no experience in finals, so I'm worried. It's important to shake off burden. Because of that, I will have to practice a lot and mobilize the people I know around me. Q: What things come to mind when you think of how to show games fans will enjoy?A: I'm also thinking about it (laughs). But before games start I get really anxious, so that isn't good. In the future, if I gather a lot of experience, I want to do a lot of ceremonies. Q: Your teammates will have to help you a lot. Is there anything you want to say to them?A: If I win, I will buy steaks. Naturally I will buy them. But if you want to eat steaks, you will have to help me a lot with the finals. I hope you help me diligently (laughs). Q: Anything else you want to say?A: I thank Startale Parting, oGs_MC, and our team's Tassadar and Sage for their help in practice. My parents and relatives said that if I advanced to the finals, they would come up to Gwangju. I will get to see them after a long time so I'm happy, and I hope that my family will have a good time after I win. Recently the Director has been helping me with nerves so I thank him, and I really thank my teammates for cheering for me. I want to say that I love my family and girlfriend.
+ Show Spoiler [Winner of Leenock vs MVP] +LeenockSource - http://thisisgame.com/board/view.php?id=957493&category=13439Q: Thoughts on defeating MVP and advancing to your career first Code S finals?A: I knew MVP was good, but I didn't know he was this good. He is really skilled. I ended up winning so I'm really happy. Q: What was your predicted score?A: Honestly I wondered whether if I won, it wouldn't be 3:2. If I lost I thought I would experience complete defeat, but the result was me winning so I'm happy. Q: In the first game, you lost to a comeback. Were you shocked after the loss?A: When I got broodlords, I just thought that I would win. But then MVP had a bigger army than I expected. I had been frugal with broodlords so I needed to use them, but I made mistakes. After I lost the first game, I thought that MVP was really strong. But I wasn't intimidated. I just thought to enjoy the Round of 4 stage. Q: In the second game too, your victory was really difficult.A: If I lost the second game, I would have collapsed mentally. The first half of the game wasn't good, but in my own way I followed it well. But I thought that I needed to attack again to win and became disadvantaged. I won really difficultly. I thought a lot to just play calmly starting from the third game. Q: In the fifth game, what did you think when you saw the supply depots get lowered?A: At first I thought he made a mistake with sim city. I thought my luck was good (laughs). My zerglings ran right in. Q: For a time, “Unluckiness” was a synonym for Leenock. Nowadays it doesn't seem so. What do you think?A: I don't know whether my luck is good. But at least it isn't bad luck. I think that owing to having a lot of bad luck in the past, my skills were able to improve more. Q: Your confidence about the finals must have increased since you beat MVP.A: When I practice on ladder, I've never played against a Terran of that caliber, but I beat that kind of Terran so I've gained a lot of confidence. It doesn't seem like I will lose in the finals. Q: What rank of Terran do you think Jjakji is?A: I think he is a really good player. I think he a strong player matching the level of MVP. His momentum in advancing to the finals with that caliber play is good, and his sharpened skills are good. Q: What's your goal for the score in the finals?A: I hope to just win with a 4:2 score. It's the finals, but wouldn't it be boring if it ended easily? I wonder whether I won't lose two times. Since my opponent is Terran. Q: These days Zerg fans are giving you a lot of support.A: Since I'm the last Zerg remaining this season, naturally it can only be like that. I hope that next season Zerg players can all do well together (laughs). Q: Before your games, Oz failed to advance to the finals.A: Since Oz lost, I suddenly got nervous. Because if I lost, the birth of our team's players advancing to the finals would have to wait until next season. Also, the plan of playing against Oz in the finals fell through, so it was really regrettable. Q: How do you think you will prepare for the finals? You have a lead in terms of experience.A: I think I will practice while understanding my opponent's style. I think I will practice a lot. Because I went to MLG too, I don't think I will get worried during the finals. I just have to practice well. Q: Anything else you want to say?A: I am always thankful to fans for supporting me. I thank FXO and our sponsor Razor. I thank TeriousPrime for telling me the Nydus Worm build from the third game. I thank everyone on our team for their help in practice.

thanks so much for translations! jjakji fighting!

+ Show Spoiler +Leenock. Such an amazing player. Everyone is thinking he's the next GSL champ easily.
Jjakji is quite a dark horse, but if he can win, he'll gain a lot of respect.

LOL Scumbag MC
Oz wins, getting MC into the Blizzard Cup
Helps Jjakji train to beat Oz anyway.
|
Leenock's a beast! Hope he wins, would put him on top of world, dont really care much for jjakji
btw no point in spoilers as this is a winners interview lol
|
Not sure who to cheer for, Leenock definitely has my sympathy, but I really grant jiakji a big tournament win (leenock already has the biggest and bestest mlg). Thanks for translating!
|
Thanks for the interviews! I cant' believe Leenock managed to beat MVP, I think I'm going to have to buy a GSL ticket, despite me being completely broke
|
Thank you so much for translating, I love the interviews almost as much as the games themselves. They're really important to be able to get a sense of who the players are. Shame theres no + Show Spoiler + one
|
leenock is a little manner bear. Nothing but good words for everyone.
|
What's this Nydus build he's talking about?
|
make nydus
make roaches
make banelings
pray to god your opponent doesn't find it

Oz playing standard would have been way better, at least in game 1 and 5. But that doesn't excuse everything, he shouldn't have fallen for this, and choya should have told him.

As with the above posters, I just want to thank you for translating.
Love these winners' interviews. A lot to be learned.

Thanks for the translations! =D
Re: "Nydus build" Check out game 3 on Crossfire...it was...interesting. I'd recommend it for sure because it wasn't like "oh these builds are weird you suck" but "oh these builds are weird...tell me more"
Well, GSL November will crown a new champion either way. That's exciting.
Jjakji definitely a huge dark horse, Leenock does look like he has it in the bag but he's not overconfident stating he thinks Jjakji might be around MVP's level. We'll see how his TvZ is in the finals. Imo it'll either be a Leenock white wash (4-0, games might be close though because zerg) or Jjakji will shock us with great play in a closer series (4-2 / 4-3).
|
Jjakji is so awesome. Hoping he'll win it all. :D
|
Is it bad if I think Jjakji is the new Top? One time hit only?
|
I'd like to see some more MVP vs Leenock games - those were epic.

I think that owing to having a lot of bad luck in the past, my skills were able to improve more.
Such wise words from a 16 year old kid, makes me like Leenock more than just a player imo. From his mannerisms in MLG and GSL he's really mature for his age.
|
Wow. In the last set of interviews, I said that MVP would crush Leenock. Boy am I eating my words with ketchup and a side of reluctant joy now.
|
On November 29 2011 08:51 canikizu wrote: Is it bad if I think Jjakji is the new Top? One time hit only? I don't know, man. TOP had several good performances (Supertournament, GSL finals, and a few ro4 or 8). I consider Inca more of a one-hit wonder than TOP. Then again, Inca did have pretty good PvP when he was around. I don't know how he is now.

No.
His only really good matchup is TvP.
I can't see him beating Leenock.

leenock crushed so many top Ts recently wouldnt be suprised if he won the finals. i was rooting for MVP

One sided finals coming up.

I think this is one of the finals that I feel exactly the same way I felt for MC vs Rain ..
ain't watchin it, would be too painful. will probably just check thread for recommended games/results.
damn you leenock, i don't mind that you won, but you robbed us of being able to see what mvp had planned on crossfire T_T that's my only complaint ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh T_T_T_T_T_T
|
What's is great here is to have another team win a GSL. No more IM \o/
|
TOP probably would have won GSL1 had he not hit Fruit Dealer back when ultralisks were bugged, his 14 2-1 thor army died to like 8 1-2 (no plating) ultralisks because of splash, lolz

and he's probably really sad he didn't win the first GSL/major-sc2-tourny lol
But at least people are aware of it, it's ok TOP! don't cry

go go leenocktopus.
i dunno why but reading his part about "i didnt realize MVP was THIS good" makes it sound like leenock figured he could've beat him before he saw how good mvp was. and yet he beat him anyways. fucking boss.

Also, he can micro(!!!). And macro. Anyone remember him stomping Losira in a macro-game with mass medivac/marine? Hahaha. (And before anyone says Losira's ZvT is horrible, remember that it's only horrible if you kill him in the first few minutes, which most people tend to do.)
So no, not a new TOP.

I'm a huge Jjakji fan after I saw his Up-Down performance about 2 seasons ago.
|
Jjakji seems cool, I hope his inexperience with finals doesn't give him nerves.
|
honestly I don't think anyone can beat leenock right now.
although he did show some flaws last night, his play is opening new doors within the game...and so is Mvp's, jakji's, oz's, etc.
such a young game, such young players.
sc2 fighting.
|
Leenock youngest gsl winner ever?
|
I think people aren't giving jjakji the credit he deserves, he didn't have an easy side of the bracket at all and fought valiantly to get to the finals, hopefully it'll be 4-2 or 4-3, I don't mind who wins :D
|
I guess its fair to a certain extent that people are counting out jjakji, but his take on TvZ has really impressed me in the past, i think the only thing that might prevent us from getting an awesome finals is jjakji potentially getting nervous. If you are interested in watching more of jjakji's game you should go back and find vods of the iccup korean monthly finals for july, he played tons of insane games.
I want to believe jjakji<3.
|
I remember seeing Jjakji play in the Korean weeklies some months ago, became an instant fan and have been keeping an eye out for him ever since. Really glad to see him make it so far.
|
If Leenock has showed up in October >_>
|
On November 29 2011 08:51 canikizu wrote: Is it bad if I think Jjakji is the new Top? One time hit only? Yes, because you're wrong. TOP wasn't a one time hit, he was a solid terran for ages, who should have made it to the finals of the very first GSL. He's one of the only players who was good back then and is still good now.

I'm glad to see people doing these translations again, I always enjoy reading them. I'll be cheering for Leenock in the finals. ^^

On November 29 2011 08:51 canikizu wrote: Is it bad if I think Jjakji is the new Top? One time hit only? Yeah. He plays really solidly and seldom makes mistakes, unlike TOP.
Besides, he's been a very noted upcoming player for a long time and had multiple Top 10 GM accounts at some points if I recall correctly. TOP doesn't pull off the same amount of feats. He's just noted for his macro and ermm... choking in international tournaments?

To be honest I was really worried when I saw leenock fell out of code S, and then fell out of code a, cuz at that time, if you fall out you simply disappear......
|
Thanks for translating
|
Thanks a lot for the translations, man this looks to be an intense final! Both players seem very confident, but I'm gonna have to give that edge to Leenock coming off his recent MLG victory. I actually thought he may slack a bit for the round of 4 knowing that he just worked his butt off to win a major international tourney, but man did he carry that momentum. Lets hope he can keep it up for the finals!

"A: I am always thankful to fans for supporting me. I thank FXO and our sponsor Razor. I thank TeriousPrime for telling me the Nydus Worm build from the third game. I thank everyone on our team for their help in practice."
Interesting.. I've done such Roach rushes on ladder they work quite well against a quick 2-3 Basing Terran..
Those Baneling Mines on the Ramp when MVP came back to save his base were so Gosu Leenock is known for little Sneaky tricks like that. I'm Glad Leenock Pulled through (I would of voted for him in Liquidbet but i accidently clicked MVP lol)
I always thought Leenock would be one of the best players when i first noticed him in the Clide vs Leenock Games in Season 2 or 3.
|
Leenock is pretty damn good... I hope he wins the finals!
|
Jjaki seems pretty cool, I'll root for him

That is such cherry picking. He probably would've won if he just did 5-rax reaper every game or just abused the completely bs maps available to him. That game you're talking about was played on Kulas Revene!

The whole "scumbag" thing is an internet meme, he's not actually calling MC a scumbag just saying his actions were kinda questionable given his stake in it.
Thanks for the awesome interviews though, Leenock and Jjakji actually seem like pretty cool dudes. I remember Jjakji's first Code A run where I believe he played Moonglade (or was it Haypro?) and showed some pretty awesome TvZ. Hopefully with all this extra time to practice we'll see these dudes at their tip-top and get an awesome GSL finals.

OZ beating MMA in the Round of 8 put MC's GSL point ranking higher than MMA's, giving him a slot in the Blizzcon Cup behind Nestea and MMA. Then, MC trained with Jjakji to help him beat Oz.
Dude was trolling (I Think :D ), but I thought i'd answer your question anyways!

I think that leenock is going to absolutely destroy jjakji. We all saw what he did to mvp. And jjakji is not mvp.

I'm throwing my support in with Lennock. Jjakji has beat several pretty good Zerg before, but he was knocked out in the October Code S by Killer who, quite frankly, is not on the same level as Leenock. Leenock won't roll him entirely, but I don't think it shall be close.

I love your work OP, tangential slight rant though, relating to all the recent discussion about too many spoilers on TL, I feel the spoiler tags here are un-necessary. Anyone who clicks on a thread that explicitly says its an Interview with the Winners of the match and complains about the post ruining the games for them, would have a few screws loose.

Going to have to support the Leenocktopus.
But GREAT interviews, I really like both of the players. <3
|
I'm excited for a finals that does not have MVP or NesTea in it for once.
|
Even Jjakji knows TvT finals gets old after a while.
|
Congratulations on winning GSL November Leenock.

Jjakji's fangirl or his girlfriend, I forgot.

Really hoping Leenock wins because i think Jjakji is just a flash in the pan, similar to somebody like Inca making a finals.
But, who knows, i'd love for him to prove me wrong in the future
|
Gotta love Leenock. His respect for his opponents is very inspiring, yet he crushes MVP pushes that I've seen a lot of other players crumble under.
Will be exciting finals. :D
|
Reading the "only Zerg" reminded me, did Leenock pull a Fruitdealer this season and be the only zerg to make it anywhere?
|
Lol people overrating over recent championships.
Leenock is good, has always been good. But it won´t be one sided. Jjakji is not bad at all, especially in TvZ
|
I think Leenock will win. But damn, a lot of you people are underestimating Jjakji.
|
LOL obviously Jjakji destroyed Puzzle and Oz, he had MC and Sage as practice partners. If this guy wins the GSL, it will be the biggest upset in Starcraft 2 history to date.

but thing is...this scrub will get pwnd by lil nestea, leenock. still...hope 짝지 can put up a good fight against leenock, so i can enjoy GSL final

Jjakji is gonna beat leenock, i don't get why leenock is so heavily favored just cause he beat mvp. Jjakji's tvz is on par with mvps, it might even be better due to his awesome marine spreading. I think a lot of people are gonna be shocked when jjakji beats leenock.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong, I'm just a bit curious how exactly you know how good Jjakji's TvZ is? If you look in his TLPD you see that his last games against zergs was 27th of september and he lost 2 games against Leenock and most of his games against zergs being in july/august. Just saying his marine spread is good doesn't give me any confidence in his TvZ matchup skills.

yeah such risky move... so much luck and element of surprise used. His willingness to go all-in or macro out 20 broodlords is amazing. His diversity of strategies is what you call a real genius.

oGs and Nshs team are quite close to each other, PROTOSS home ), some decent terran, and some bad zerg
|
Zerg early game is still so awkward but I am loving the mid-game howadays as they are all getting stronger, and T n P are gonna have to follow suit; great game to all.

he didnt exactly destroy oz since it was 3-2 and oz played quite oddly (surely hes better than what he showed)
hope leenock takes it i think this guy is really good and also very young so he can very become the emporer of sc2

Am I the only one thinking that Jjakji has this?
probably.... i saw GSL this season and saw the full mlg providence , and i have to say that if leenock can beat mvp 2 times , he can beat jjakji too...
leenock is the easy pick and the probable winner .. With all the terran nerf since the game release and now with Heart of the swarm coming , i dont see terrans doing so well .. If jjiakji wins and then goes to code A like ogstop thats bad.. To win as terran you have to harass pretty well to manage good wins , its not so overpowered now is it?

I want to believe jjakji<3. Well,MVP has one of the best TvZ out there .I dun think jjiakji stand a chance as leenock is just on fire lately.Leenock is actually humble to think that jjakji skill level is matching MVP. I don't think so man but leenock does not want to be overconfident i guess. It will be either 4-0 or 4-1 for Leenock. Yeah I think he was just being well-mannered and nice in the interview.

If you need confidence in jjakji's tvz, just watch his games against drg and leenock in AOL 2, where he beat leenock. Although he lost to DRG, he was able to push him to the brink and at one point looked to be taking the game. Jjakji also played leenock 3 weeks ago in fxopen tourney #12. They played two games and he beat leenock on dual sight and daybreak. On both maps Jjakji was able to secure his 3rd due to his meticulous marine spreads and tank positioning. Whenever leenock attacked, he was never able to trade efficiently and would always lose out, thus giving jjakji the supply lead. Eventually, jjakji wins by just overwhelming leenock with marines and tanks.

The Leenock now is totally different compared to the past few weeks and he is on fire. Jjakji is nowhere as near as good in TvZ to MVP.To be able to beat MVP twice is quite a feat who is widely regarded as one of the best TvZers.
Dun kid yourself.Leenock is regarded as heavy favourite in the finals due to his MLG run and it will be either 4-1 or 4-0 for Leenock as the GSL final curse continues.

Jjakji is easily the biggest underdog to ever reach a final (in terms of what fans think about his chances), after about a year of bad finals this may be a really good one again, I could see this go to game 7.
|
Leenock's pretty strong, honestly I think he takes it 4:3 or 4:2 against Jjakji. Leenock basically 3-1'd MVP (if he hadn't botched the end of game 1) and he kept his head solid even though MVP started coming back in game 2. Showed a lot of poise in taking out arguably the best player in the world and I don't see how he can't be the favorite going into the final.

This is the reason why Leenock can/has? become one of the best SC2-players so far... Incredibly mature response by a 16 year old. Actually just gained a lot of respect for this super aggressive player..

Omg, leenock getting all kinds of cash right now
|
I hate you TeriousPrime, now we'll never know what MVP was going to do with those ghosts until probably next season.

You better hope he's different from three weeks ago, otherwise he's gonna get smashed. Jjakji getting to the finals wasn't just luck, there's a reason he wanted leenock over mvp in the finals. He sees holes in leenock's game, and he's gonna exploit them.

artosis said in gsl season 2 or so, that leenock seems to be a very skilled zerg. now lately he mentioned that nestea said leenock will become one of the strongest zerg out there and i have no doubt about that now. he was there all the time, but he never had the edge to win. but now he is stronger than ever and i'd like to push the new bonjwa hype a bit more
|
I can't believe MVP lost after playing that good we all know he is good but wtf was that it was unbeliveble. Seriously everyone should watch those games it was an unbelieveble match if not the best i've ever seen. Jjakji? After seeing MVP vs Leenock no way i can see Leenock losing to Jjakji.
|
I think anything but a Leenock win will be an upset. Beating Mvp in that manner was astonishing.
Jjakji is a lot better than most people give him credit, however his TvZ is not comparable to MMA/ MVP/ Sc's TvZ. And I think Leenock has beaten at least 2 of those 3 in the past week.
If nothing else, hopefully the finals might be close (for once)
|
watched too little of jjakji's play to really tell, but he seems like a build order guy. Leenock's in-game decision-making, i think is superior though. I mean Jesus, as far as I see it, MVP was a god in those games. I play terran, and i don't understand how he stayed in the game for so damn long. SO if we're saying that leenock is currently on par with MVP...
|

|
Leenock fighting! I can't wait for the finals even though I've yet to watch the Leenock vs. MVP games.
|
LOL MC studied all of Oz' strats to train Jjakiji so he could roll over him. and I agree if leenock had lost game 2, as a player, his entire mentality would collaspe. I mean Leenock was soooo far ahead in that game, moreso than game 1 and he almost lost it because MVP was so resilient. At least now I can confirm MVP is definitely the best Terran player in the world (shame, he doesn't have as many fans as other terrans like MMA)
