Today is a great day for me. Not only do I join a team that has great potential and many good players, but I also find a new home after spending most of the last 6 months alone. I am looking forward to representing Team Legion and making our fans proud -LgNdesRow
With desRow joining our roster I am sure that our NA, KR, and Mexican branches will benefit greatly from his play. As a new team, we are extremely grateful for the support that the community offers to both e-sports and players like LgNdesRow. -LgNDarigaz, Team Legion Manager

Kinda weird to see imgur as a sponsor though, I was having the understanding it was just a money sink for the owner from what I've read on reddit, lol.

They essentially have a sponsor that just about breaks even.

So weird to see lower tier (that's not an insult, but you're no mouz or anything) teams getting big sponsors. Guess it really is a new dawn. Edit: oh and gl^^
I can't believe a team would sponsor desRow. This guy is a plague to eSports and will leave you with an extremely sour taste after you finally realize the mistake you've made. desRow has horrible manners, under performs, steals prize money, constantly lies, and creates the most outlandish excuses for any of his flaws.
My last interaction with desRow occured early last year. My team had placed 2nd place in ESL DotA Season 5 and ESL was extremely slow in paying out. Now, desRow didn't play in a single match and was disconnected from our team. The only reason he was still on our roster as an "honorary" member was because the rosters were locked once the tournament started. Once ESL tried to contact us for prize payout, desRow silently tried to sneak his name in there and I was surprised that the admin told me there was a dispute. I got my other teammates to vouch for me and the admin ruled in my favor. A little bit later, ESL mistakenly pays out to the only payment information they have on file (I guess the financial people didn't check the dispute) and desRow pockets the team's prize money without saying a word. 7 months after he received the prize money, it stands that he gave it all away already and I have not received any of it.

Sounds like good ol' desRow to me. Sucks Korok. Screwed on many levels. Hope to see you in DotA 2 competing, though.
I was trying to act as an impartial mediator in this situation, but Korok has made it clear that he cares more about tarnishing desRow's reputation than receiving his share of the prize money. After talking to everyone involved, there is really no dispute in what actually happened:
ESL paid the 300 Euro prize money to desRow, in the form of $387 USD. This money was to be divided evenly between Korok and his four teammates. desRow did not notify the rest of the team about receiving the prize money, but eventually paid $237 to one player (to be left unnamed for now) and $150 to another. Korok and two teammates received nothing. For the record, the player who received $150 has agreed to distribute his excess payment to his teammates, as each player was entitled to $77.40.
desRow recognizes that he made a poor decision, but he gained nothing from the aforementioned events. ESL made an error and the player who received $237 and refuses to redistribute his excess payment of $159.60 is ultimately the one preventing a fair resolution. Korok is frustrated, and for good reason, but desRow is no longer in a position to rectify the situation.
Korok claims that the $237 payment was a "personal loan" and that desRow should still be responsible for paying the rest of the team. However, since desRow paid out the EXACT amount he received, and only paid this money out to teammates who deserved a portion of the money, I find it hard to believe that this was intended as a personal loan as opposed to the expected distribution of prizes.

Well it is Desrows fault, he tried to originally take the prize money, then distributed it incorrectly. Korok would have his money if it weren't for Desrow, no?
There is nothing to suggest that Korok would have received any money. Once the money left ESL's hands, it was desRow's job to distribute it. While it is his fault that he distributed it incorrectly, he cannot be held responsible for the actions of the team members who received Korok's share.

Did you miss the part where it was only desrow's 'job' to distribute the money because he stole it by acting like he still had anything to do with the team?

So he randomly decided to give $237 to one guy and $150 to another? How did he come to that ratio? Why did he take the money in the first place instead of immediately returning it to sender? Just because he no longer has the money doesn't mean he's immune to criticism. You also didn't refute the claim that he "tried to sneak his name on the list". If so, wtF? Maybe the guy he sent $237 is also a jackass, but that doesn't excuse anything.

Wow, so much poison in these threads. I just need to stay out...
As for the Gosi comments, there were a bunch of miscommunications, hence Torte's post. Don't assume that he joined and insta-left because he thought he was "too good" for the team.

fake sponsor if i've ever seen one. and even if they do sponsor them its with a free premium account to upload images. no way in hell imgur pays them any money.
I never said he should be "immune to criticism". He realizes that he made a mistake.
However, it's a mistake that he can no longer fix. desRow WAS affiliated with the team. ESL is at fault for releasing the prize to him. Even if his intentions were originally questionable, he did turn over the full sum to the players... just not equally.

Way to be a dick. You're not the least bit qualified to talk about LgN's sponsors.
As for desrow, let's just hope he cleans up his act. Same with major and sixjax, these teams are giving them a second chance because they recognize their talent so I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah imgur has no reason to sponsor sc2 and has not yet made an announcement or given lgn any type of comment. Unless they do so its hard to take that sponsorship seriously. And I can bet lgn wont be putting up any type of statement from them in the future as well.

What ESL did would qualify as a mistake. What he did doesn't sound like a mistake at all; it sounds like an attempt at theft that went wrong. If this is all some kind of huge misunderstanding and there's something that can actually defend his character, I'm all ears. But so far, sounds like he tried to steal something, got busted and backpeddled in an extremely odd fashion.

Imgur likely has no idea. But like i said even if they do sponsor them its likely just a premium account and no money is changing hands. In which case this announcement is fine but dont believe it to be something big when in actuality its probably quite small.

This is it exactly. Responsibility does not shirk like this. "Expected Distribution" would be equally split among all players, instead of giving one guy $237, another $150, and not paying three players.
If I owe player A and player B $50 each, and only pay player A $100, it doesn't matter that I overpaid one guy and no longer have it. I still owe player B, it wasn't Player A's responsibility to pay B, it was mine. Even if player A is a jackass and won't split his money, that doesn't change the fact that I still owe player B. It doesn't matter that I gave out what I was supposed to already.
Taking all the teams money to distribute when you didn't actually even play, then distributing random amounts to less than half the players, is just irresponsible. desRow might not be a thief, but he did cause the situation that occurred with his irresponsibility. I'm not one to hold a grudge, and desrow has admitted it was a mistake, but if more than half a year afterwards, it is still has not rectified and players are still unpaid, it is very bad for his character image.
When you make a mistake, you are also responsible for fixing that mistake. And more than half a year later it hasn't happened yet. Therefore, desRow is at the very least irresponsible, if not the many other things Korok described him as.

Imgur is indeed supporting us significantly and providing jerseys as posted in the announcement. We are not releasing those details to the public. A statement from imgur will be provided soon. Please no trolling thanks
Also as for any concerns about desRow, we have met with him extensively and feel that his concern to refine his attitude and play are enough to give him the opportunity he is working so hard to earn.

Thanks. I know lgn is a new team and new to dealing with sponsorships but statements from a sponsor is pretty important in legitimizing a sponsorship. Yeah you can make up a statement but you run the risk of the company finding out and there being a big backlash and of course your team being exposed and losing all fans. which makes providing a statement a bigger deal than one would believe.
I hope I never become a pro player and ever get an announcement thread about me joining or leaving a team. They're 50% filled with just people shitting on you about how you suck anyways or how "X" deserves the spot more.
Or otherwise it's filled with "Y team sucked anyways", LIQUID'Z ANYONE M I RITE??"

This thread is atrocious, this is only one example as to why.
Thank you for your concern TheTrueAmerican, but such concerns would be best dealt with through the websites private messaging system rather than baselessly refuting claims in the public forum.
Having watched D's stream quite a lot lately I can say he has cleaned up his act a lot. It's kinda long since I saw him raging on opponents which was quite standard before (2 months ago or so), now he just gg's even if he's 6-pooled, and then calmly analyzes what went wrong. Give the guy a chance, if he does fuck up again then cut him loose.
I do believe it is great that a new SCII team is born. Also it is nice to see new and different sponsors getting more and more interest in e-sport.
As for DesRow, I don't think it is quite a good pick. I've played him online with my smurf a couple of times and watched his stream from time to time. Sure he's good, but he's really BM and points out irrelevant elements (PS: making excuses) for his mistakes everytime. I do believe the team will regret this decision as he hasn't provided any offline tournament results that justifies his pro status and does not really show good manners and positiveness in his attitude. Anyway, good luck to the team!
I'm not quite sure why Desrow joining a team is a head line (or why his stream is sponsored for that matter), but the sponsorship is awesome. Hope things go well for the team. I love these low profile teams starting to gain some momentum.

I think he's been getting better and better about this. I used to watch his stream and was really put off by his terrible attitude. But lately, he seems to be more willing to admit his opponent just outplayed him and made better decisions. Everyone sometimes makes bad excuses but I think he's been actively working on improving this.
So many dickheads in this thread just have to be negative.
Anyway, good luck Desrow! I really like his stream- he's one of the few players who really tries to explain what he's doing in the games. Those who get offended so easily don't realize he has a sense of humor and is often quite self-critical (since I've been watching anyway).
I haven't watched/followed Desrow for a while. 4-5 months ago I was following him on twitter and watching his stream and I was really turned off by his attitude. I hope things have changed since then because hes a pretty decent and knowledgeable player, but by what has been said in this thread it doesn't seem like it has.
Regardless, I hope this works out for LgN and Desrow. GLHF
desrow is a fantastic player but he really needs to stick to a team like lgn. He left his two last teams very quickly but i hope he can be happy here and get a lot of new opportunities,DesRow FWAITING!
Congrats Desrow, you're doing a great job turning over a new leaf, hopefully you do more with a 2nd chance than terren has (and his3rd,4th,5th,idn what # hes on now). Don't let the haters get to you, your stream has definitely become a positive for the community .

I feel like he explains what he's doing very well, unless you have the gall to ask him why he did something, especially if he lost, then he throws a bit of a fit and bans tons of people from the chat.
Personally, I do not care for desrow very much, but best of luck to imagur, hopefully this works out for them...

Desrow regularly gets beaten by low-mid master players. i know first hand. Adding to that Desrow is extremely BM and even bans his mods when they make jokes. One time desrow was just randomly reading chat and responded hi back to a random user. Then as a joke one of his mod said 'hey how come you didnt say hi to me desrow!!!' and Desrow banned him. I mean the guy cant take a joke if he bans his own mod for saying that lol.

His massively inflated ego must tell him hes far enough above normal beings that everyone should actually respect him as much as or more than a genuinely good starcraft 2 professional.
I watch desRow almost every time he streams and I wonder what this bm is that so many of you are talking about.
Is it when he says that you can never call imbalance - not even after he got smashed by a 1-1-1 - unless you play perfectly? Is it that he takes time for a 10-30 minute Q&A at the end of every stream session (and in between games 2 days/week)? Is it when he watches the replay after a loss and points out his mistakes and what the opponent did good? Maybe it's about his general 'mods are not allowed to ban' policy? That one I would get. It can be awful even for an sc2 chat. Can't believe all the shit he gets just for being overweight.
I say it's just a remnant of his old self that you are still judging him by. How about you tune in to his stream when you have the time to see and hear for yourself?

Desrow is much better then people give him credit. Id like to see you take games off of players like Idra or TLO.

impossible? what? lol Desrow has already taken off games off idra and TLO. Impossible isn't the word your looking for.....
well there isn't a single good player on this team, so I don't see this sponsorship lasting long unless they actually have somebody else who will recruit players with good potential or high skill.
Congrats to Desrow. Perhaps with a new team we'll be seeing him at some live events. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say it would be sick to see him and Minigun to play outside of home.

fake sponsor if i've ever seen one. and even if they do sponsor them its with a free premium account to upload images. no way in hell imgur pays them any money.
Mr.Grim, the creator of imgur posted on reddit discussing the sponsorship, so yes, it's legit.
Disappointed Desrow keeps getting picked up by teams - he's all marketing, and, imo, poorly done marketing.
I'm not sure why Desrow gets so much crap. I've only heard his name relatively recently (5-6 months?), but I've been watching his stream on and off in the last month and he seems pretty polite. I've never seen him rage out at an opponent or member of chat. Maybe he's done some really stupid things in the past that people can't/don't want to forgive him for? Not sure, but he seems like a normal guy now.
To the trolls, what do you mean he don't deserve it? This thread itself deserves a congratulations as it already proved you wrong. It's not a matter of whether you like him or not. It's not a matter of whether you think he's qualified or not. It's not a matter of whether he even murders someone in front of you in a fit of rage after losing a game. You might not see what other people see in him, but who are you to judge? Everyone deserves a second chance, who says he can't change his habits after getting a sponsor? Or maybe he has already began changing slowly some time ago but you fail to realize because you're holding a grudge against him? Main point being, to those who have so many negative comments to give, get someone to freaking sponsor you before you start talking I watch him stream sometimes, I admit I'm not a huge fan of his play, some people say it's a free country and they can criticise him in whatever way they like, but hell, this is a thread showing that "someone like him" (to those of you big critics out there) can get sponsored while most of you can't. How many of you are even willing to take the first step and say "I'm gonna do this shit full time" and gets sponsored? If one day you're looking for a sponsor, do you want all the support you can get? If you already have one, do you want to always have people who will continue to support you? Therefore, I might not know you well, I might not worship you as I do to MC, HuK and Hero but CONGRATULATIONS to you desRow and hope you make it into the big scene someday.
hes also extremely bad mannered and very fake and kid like when he runs into actual pros. and will then say he should have won when he inevitably loses. hes a bad winner. a bad loser. and hes fat.

wow... your post puts a lot of things in perspective that are easy to forget. Thanks and I hope one day to make you proud and that you worship me
Starcraft 2 is the most difficult game for a player to break into the e-sports scene to. Given the fact that desroW has been in 3 teams already and have sponsors, that's just proves all the trolls wrong. He IS a good player and is respected by this big community. He grabs around 1000 viewers if not more sometimes when he streams.
Its so easy to flame and be a jerk on the internet, but for me personally. I like to show respect towards those who deserve it, this is an insanely hard game so alot of respect for desrow.
