Hello,
how do I implement special characters in my ingame name? The ASCII Codes for µ (the one I want) aren't working. I also can't copy and paste it.
But there has to be a way since LaLush and the other Millienium Gamers have this double dagger ‡ in their name.
Hope someone can help. Thx in advance.

Lalush doesn't have ‡ in his name =\ You can't use special characters or numbers in your name afaik.

I'm pretty sure the only characters you're allowed to use - at least in the North American version, are the 26 letters of the alphabet. Validation rules and whatnot...

Good thing I'm also trying to accomplish this on a EU profile. I'm rly curious how that works cause I can't copypaste the Dagger in as well. C'mon it has to be possible to get a fuckin µ in a name. :-(

From what I understand, there are a only few special characters that are allowed in your name. ‡ is one of them. I don't think it is intentional, and simply an oversight by Blizzard. Sorry mate, can't be done.
EDIT: Oh, nevermind. Didn't realize you couldn't copy paste that symbol either. I don't know then. The above is just what I've heard.

have you tried using the alt code instead of copying/pasting?
|
Alt code for mu is alt+230 but I don't know if that'll actually make a difference or anything.
|
Lalush is a pretty dope guy and posts frequently on TL so I'm sure he'll come and clear up any confusion as soon as he sees this
|
I was also wondering about this, I noticed the millenium guys (eg. adelscott) have the dagger thing in their name.
|
Not all the symbols work, this is probably one of them.
|
yes, of course. I have tried the the codes (alt+181/230) and the keyboard command (altGR+m) neiter of them works. But I have also noticed that the codes are totally different to any given ASCII code list. I have found several strange symbols bei accident which can't be pasted either but failed to find µ and the dagger.
This leads me to believe that there is actually a combination but totally differnt to the ones known. IM going to try some more. I rly hope Lalush shows up. ^^
|
I'm now entirely sure that it is possible to use the µ on EU Server since a sc2ranks search has revealed that there are 3 people who have the it in their name. Several others have the double dagger. I really want to know how it is done. Maybe I should open up a thread on the b.net forums although they staff might be reluctant to tell the method.

As much as it looks cool and all, it's slightly more tedious to enter when someone is adding you as friend via character and code, as they will have to paste your whole name in since they probably won't know how to type it in themselves. Are you pasting this into the change-name option in battle.net website? Maybe these users pasted the character ingame, when they first made their ingame character, just a thought.
|
maybe only this one works
|
@Valckrie: This is for a smurf account so need for friends. I got it from a friend and he gave it some horrible name I can't stand.^^
I was thinking about your suggestion, too. But you have to change you name ingame and it looks just like when you gave yourself your name, so I don't see why something like this should. I also believe that a lot of the Millenium people changed their name afterwards (For example Tarson was not always M‡Tarson and he didn't make up a new account) and I still fail to add the dagger which seems pretty common.

If you don't get an answer here in a few days you could PM Lalush. If he's really a cool guy he'd be nice about it.
