UPDATE: Added Liquid'Jinro's new Razer profile site!
Razer have made some presentations on the BW legend BoxeR, Swedish superhero Jinro, foreigner veteran Mondragon and famous Taiwanese Linda Liao (aka Picachu)
It gives a brief, yet very good introduction on these players history, some quotes and awesome photos
Jinro presentation
One thing to note that the discrepancy in skill between Korean and foreign StarCraft II players is huge. It is rare for foreign players to be capable of being part of the Global Star League's Code-S category let alone to go deep in the tournament. Most foreign players fall at the skilled hands of Korean StarCraft II gamers.
But a Swedish player is currently changing that reputation. Not only was he able to qualify as a Code-S player, he also finished 3rd/4th in the tournament, the farthest that any foreign player has ever achieved, a feat he accomplished twice. In the Korean gaming scene, that is unexpected from a non-Korean gamer. He is the MLG Dallas 2010 StarCraft II Champion. He is Jonathan "Jinro" Walsh, the "Hero of the Foreigners".

BoxeR presentation
One of StarCraft's finest and also Korea's most televised pro-gamer has joined the move. His known StarCraft alias is "SlayerS_BoxeR",; to his fans he is known as the "Terran Emperor", and to the whole gaming community, Lim Yo-Hwan is known as eSports' most popular StarCraft pro-gamers ever to take the stage. And in order to once again shake the foundations of professional gaming, Lim Yo-Hwan enlisted with the top level, professional game lineup of Team Razer.

Mondragon presentation
Christoph "Mondragon" Semke made a name for himself internationally by competitively playing the popular real-time strategy game, StarCraft. During the days of StarCraft 1's Brood War, Mondragon dominated the European scene. He was renowned to be the best Zerg player in Europe. He had a total of 4 appearances in the World Cyber Games Grand Finals. He won 3rd place in the WCG StarCraft Grand Finals in 2007, battling against the best Korean StarCraft gamers.

Linda "Picachu" liao presentation
Linda Liao (born on the 24th of May, 1981) is a celebrity model, singer and actress. This Taiwanese native came to fame through notable film performances and multiple features on well-known lifestyle magazines. Linda also has a wide range of television appearances from music videos to being a video jockey (VJ) for MTV Mandarin. Yet under all the fame and glamor of Linda lies a unique passion.

I don't get it, Boxer joined Razer or is Razer now a sponsor of SlayerS ? (like they sponsor Serious Gaming).

Title may be a bit confusing, but no BoxeR is still on SlayerS and Mondragon is still on MYM
|
Slayers is sponsored by Razer, as seen by the huge Razer logo on the back of their uniform
|
She looks good. Sry needed to say that...
Good more sponsers getting there name out there, but i would prefeur them to see them @ a new gaming team then to sponsor people who are already on teams like boxer/mondragon
|
Mondragon the Wizard, Mondragon the Legend. I remember staying up real late to watch the last TSL. Mondy so mannered :3

First BoxeR got an individual sponsorship by Razer, then he formed his team, now Razer is one of the sponsors of his team (and judging by the size of the Razer logo on the back of the team shirts I'd say it's the primary sponsor of SlayerS).

I doubt you need to apologize my friend, I don't think anyone is going to contradict you . Good lineup of stars with alot of appeal, razer is gonna benefit greatly from this.

Wait, there is a womens SC2 league? First time hearing anything about this... My girlfriend was wondering if there was anything out there and she's around 2.2 masters on north america

how are these presentations "old news"?
unless you mean BoxeR/SlayerS and Linda being sponsored by Razer, because that isn't what this said: it is a presentation/biography, not a "announcement"

That's what I thought too.
Apparently sex still sells or something. Because she clearly has nothing else going for her.

Thats like rank #1 Masters in EU/US.
IdrA told me!
|
since MYM's main sponsor is RAZER as well, this makes quite some sense
|
this happened a while ago. Razar may sponsor teams (like say Intel does EG) but this instance is Razer sponsoring the player specific. This is similar to TLO being sponsored by Sony Ericcson.

Yeah, they keep hyping up her accomplishments when all she's done is win one ESL Female cup. Saying stuff like she was #1 player in her country, because she periodically obtained #1 plat/Diamond in her division, because she PLACED into the division at #1, stuff like that.
PS: You searched the wrong one, she's here

I mean, regardless of players rank or whatever.. kudos to razer for supporting these players. This is what is needed.

in that case; concider this as Mondragons razer Bio, with the 2 others added in for those who missed it last time
|
A girl would always hype up everything. We all know sex sells.

Yeah, exactly. She's a nice girl though, and she's definitely a better player than a lot of people out there. I've spoken to her a few times on BNet. We all know why she's sponsored; it's a good move.
But she's neither bad at StarCraft nor professional-level.

why does starcraft need a womans cup anyway? what possible disadvantage could having a vagina cause her?
either way props to her for getting sponsorships and stuff out of it, dont hate the playa etc etc.

Everyone who is mid gold or higher is better than average in theory, she's good, probably one of the ok-ish to better girls out there, but the fawning over her is obscene from Razer.

I don't see anything wrong with it...just gives girls a chance to compete? It's the same reason tehre are gold and lower cups and stuff like that, gives people who are trying to get competitive experience more practice with people at similar level.

If you watch the interview she says she's waiting for masters/grandmaster's league so them saying she's rank 1 Diamond is old, she also says she's currently playing on the US server so you'd have to find her sc2rank for that
|
Nice, really cool pages and glad they are sponsoring some of the pros.
|
This might be her? http://www.sc2ranks.com/us/737869/Pikachu
It is interesting how they pick their players. Fame and looks over results. I kind of agree with that as well from a sponsor point of view. Boxer is never wrong there.
Wonder why they picked up Mondragon though, I have no sense for male looks. ^^

Sell me a Mondragon mouse.

Pretty sure you guys are looking at the wrong profile for her. Even on her TW profile (IF that is her), look at her record: 97-55 - that's a 64% win ratio, and that's around 150 games for the ENTIRETY of Season 1. Something tells me that it's not her main laddering account...
|
sex sells, no surprises.
Don't need to be mean to her though. It's a vicious cycle. Male nerds bemoan the fact that there are no girls, but when a girl appears she is there because sex sells and therefore is not legit. Girl ends up getting dropped and can't get enough experience as a player, and the whole cycle begins again. You need girl/women's leagues because it's so much easier for girls to just earn money via sponsorship that there's no real incentive to worry about doing that well in the game itself. Gotta nurture the talent before pitting them against guy games with a huge amount of experience.

Regardless thats still pretty good, she also won the womans ESL championships so she must be pretty decent.
I dunno how much she really plays though, because shes an actress and celebrity in taiwan so i doubt she has time to be playing alot.
I wonder if she is in masters league now, if not then -_- why are they even sponsoring her
In fact im gonna look it up on sc2 ranks.

Why the hell are they still sponsoring this girl, what a crock of shit she doesnt even play anymore.
thats pretty bs.
I mean if they want to sponsor her as a razergirl or something thats cool, but as a player its just kind of insulting to all the other real pro gamers on the team.
edit: are you sure that one is her? i think its more likely that this one is her: http://www.sc2ranks.com/tw/736252/PiKaChu
Regardless she has only played 11 games and she is in diamond still. Its pretty offensive that she is still on the razer team and they try and hype her up, there are tons of girls in Masters league who are much better and far more deserving, like say MegumixBear , shes actually part of the starcrat community to and she streams, i bet this girl doesnt give a crap about the game, she either hasnt played since the reset or has only played maybe 20 games.

She stopped using her Taiwanese account November 2010.
