I almost prefer drawing on lined paper just cause i've drawn on lined paper since time begun for me and it just feels so familiar and isn't as intimidating as a blank sketchbook pad. On February 05 2011 15:06 DeltruS wrote: I have no idea how people can make fan art as good as this. It would be hard enough making drawings of humans, never mind a drawing of an alien race of unknown anatomy. GJ Yeah, the alien anatomy thing is more of an advantage than a disadvantage. With alien anatomy you can just make stuff up, then turning muscles into carapace is just knowing where muscles fold underneath other muscles and turning that into a shell that loosely looks like a muscle from actual anatomy. If that makes sense. On February 05 2011 15:13 GullyFoyle wrote: Really nice! Seriously, if you can draw like that... start your sketching on drawing paper hehe. Hope it's off creep, 'cause as a Terran I don't wanna be this up close and personal... Oh yeah, since this one is more based off of the "slimmer" sc1 hydras, being off creep doesn't matter. so watch out! On February 05 2011 15:17 NrG.NeverExpo wrote: u sure those aren't drawn on or something? Im sure the guidelines really help with keeping proportion etc. It doesnt look bad with them :D Nah, the lines are just due to me only having lined paper at the time. I used to use guides for proportions, but nowadays i am comfortable just eyeballing it as using guides etc. seems to make me draw really tight. which isn't good. On February 05 2011 15:39 2GRe-Play- wrote: pretty good job, how much does it take to draw this? It worked about 45 min in a meeting, then an hour over lunch, then another hour and a half to two hours cleaning it up, scanning it, uploading it, etc. so i'd say 4-5 hours total. On February 05 2011 17:14 On_Slaught wrote: Pretty good. A small bit of criticism, you should make the head a little bigger in the future. iirc, their heads are usually much larger (the fan part). lol yea, if i draw another one i might go all out and make it fatter with a big head/crown, kind of like the SC2 hydras which IMO are a bit fatter than SC1 hydras. Make a mutalisk next! ![]() Mutalisk or overlord i think i want to do next. no timeframe when, but i'll title it with "fanboi art muta" etc. so it's easy to spot. I might do the next one in photoshop or something and do a video of it just for fun. I just downloaded camtasia so that might become a reality. Anyway, we'll see. And again, i never thought i'd get so many compliments. i really appreciate it guys/(gals?). Yall are the best! thanks!. :D | ||
