looking forward to the 2011 circuit! will fill out right away

I don't have a LAN center near me so I could not do the survey .
Seems like that should be an option or something to skip some of the required questions 2-3-4

Good luck!
Hopefully we'll see some weekly local MLG-affiliated events in many cities around the US.
|
Exciting. Filled it out. Didn't think of other games initially, but depending on the quality, it would be fun to also get the chance to see a decent level Halo Tournament.
It would be cool to see the results on what people say would motivate them to compete in these tournaments.
Good luck. Thanks MLG!
|
For suggestions for other events they can organize with the local LAN centers, I answered that it would be great if they could organize watching parties for the big events. This would be great because then I wouldn't be watching these cool events alone in my room.
|
Surveyed! Please come to the hacker dojo in san jose!
|
filled it out, though some of these questions are flawed a bit =/
as for tournaments, if i have a chance at breaking even (travel + entry fee) ill go regardless of price. why i didnt go to a mlg event last season. i would have had to take second to break even on cost =/

Lee, what do you think of the Extended Series?
But really, what is MLG's take on the Canadian scene in the long run? It's been pretty clear it's expensive as all hell holding events up here, but what about the LAN initiative and possibly flying qualifiers down?

We are looking for LAN Centers in Canada as well. If you know of a LAN center in Canada, please have the manager or owner email lancenters@mlgpro.com.

Come to Canada!! Montreal is pretty close, and there's lots of gamers here!! :D
|
I never miss out on a chance to get feedback... As far as the question on "MLG rules," I think you know most of TL's answers to that one.
|
Ill find the closest ones in Raleigh and Greenville.. Too bad Gamefrog went out of business in Raleigh -______-
|
any more info on what mlg is hoping to do with this? possibilities? goals?
|
answered. Also, i looked at the landing site, and the images you used. Nice pre-beta screenshot there for the DT's. Perhaps get a pvz and a screen of dt action there, so you have all 3 races, and not just terran, terran and toss.

If MLG started holding something in New York, I'd be the first person on the line.
|
ok lee i filled it out just for u ! ;D <3 MLG

Vancouver has plenty of LAN centers we can invade >=D This'll be great for uniting the community, too. I'll e-mail you when I've a sufficient collection of locations. Thanks for the immediate response!

If you know what friday night magic is, it sounds a lot like that.

RE: all the Canada questions. MLG operated tournaments in Canada for a couple of years, but it was in partnership with a domestic Canadian sports management company. For a lot of reasons, it's really hard to cross an international border with an event of our scale. Trucking along makes it really expensive, never mind the differences in local laws etc.
The last event we did in Canada was in Toronto and I personally had a blast. My college roommate is from Toronto and it's a wonderful city. But its unlikely that we'd be back in the 2011 season. Not saying no, just saying its really unlikely.
|
bring MLG to Europe Lee do it nao!
|
Come to Edmonton, or at least Calgary haha! I filled out the form, but I'm not intimately familiar with any LAN centers in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, as I haven't been involved in any scene here. I know there are people who organize semi-regular tournaments, but I'm not sure if they're at LAN centers or not. (Excuse my ignorance)
|
Awesome idea! Go MLG!
O_O On the second to last question I couldn't think of any other game I would want to watch at MLG other than SC2 though, LOL.
On a related note, I know many people (myself included) would jump on the opportunity to volunteer to be some sort of MLG student ambassador at their local university; a large portion of gamers are students after all. Seems to me like a super cheap way to spread the word to your biggest demographic!

If you wanted to get university communities involved, have you ever considered contacting or working with the CSL? It'd be pretty cool if you could do some kind of joint events or use MLG sponsored LAN centers for CSL matches.

I just think this would be really cool if it were viable. :p

Good shit. Never been to an SC event but I've been to tons of console/fighting game and card game events. Gonna make an effort to go to an MLG for SC2 this year.
|
Just filled out the survey and something I really wanna see more are pro events in California!(preferably near the LA area).
I remember last year there was an event in Anaheim, but I didnt get to go to that because I wasnt really in to esports at that time.
|
Too bad I do not know of a single LAN center anywhere around Joplin Missouri *Probably one up in Kansas City, I'm sure...*
I did my job and filled out the survey at least!!
|
This would be a great way to bring up SC2 into the mainstream, if I'm not mistaken thats how e-sports got big in South Korea, Lan Centers (PC Bangs) owners paired their best customers against each other and thus e-sports was born.

Yeah, I don't know of any around my part of NY. I would definitely check something like this out. I hope taking the survey helps get these things out there.
|
Ah, good work MLG! It's great to see you taking such an interest in the local communities! Hopefully you'll consider GA for one of the LAN centers. I know we have some decent ones in the Gwinnett/Atlanta area.
|
I wanna help out but not being a resident in the US I'm sort of wondering how useful my feedback will be in the survey. Should I take it anyways?

You guys should start with Universities and Colleges, similar to what EA does.
For those of you unfamiliar, EA hires students at colleges to be EA representatives. The reps hold events on and around college campuses regularly throughout the semester. Sometimes they just showcase a new game and raffle off games and other swag, sometimes they host competitions in for their games.
It's a brilliant marketing strategy because a significant portion of the gamer demographic are college students. Universities are also ideal because they are one of the few places that have the infrastructure necessary to host gaming events.
That's why I think that universities are an ideal place to start. You could get MLG volunteers to organize local tournaments on a semi-regular basis. You could have qualifiers for regional tournaments as increase the amount of exposure that MLG gets.
Edit: Ninja'd

I filled it out, under the "other idea" section I put what I think was a good idea:
Have a pro give a free live "lesson" to someone in the audience while the audience watches. ie: The pro would pick someone (or randomly select) from the audience who would come up and play a match against a random person online (or another pro) (or another audience member) and the pro would watch them play and coach them during the game and review the game with them. I can see this being really fun and entertaining to watch. I got the idea from watching Day9 coach DJwheat live. You could even have 1 pro coach 1 amateur who faces another amateur being coached by a pro. There are alot of possibilities, but generally it ends up being very funny and informative at the same time.

yeah, because i don't want to go to queens. the subway is a bitch and i live deep in brooklyn. it annoys me to no end that they're out there. i've been to TL events in manhattan though.
however, if MLG did something in queens, i'd make the trek.

Did the survey, I hope you can make something good happen MLG

I support the motion to have some kind of MLG events in Canada! I wouldn't mind driving quite a bit to attend it as long as it's this side of the border.

Done. MLG in Portugal that is even possible?

Would love to see one around vancouver

Would love to see some MLG EU. This could make it a possibility. Maybe if you put like 1 LAN center in each countries capital? I would gladly travel to London to compete and spectate.

in the last question I suggested they specifically try to have tournaments at the Green Forest Cafe in ventura because they're so awesome

For the last question I suggested to stream the games at lan centers and to have casters there even if it's not Day/Wheat/JP

Awesome. Glad to see MLG taking this seriously.

To one of the mlg posters on here, do yall currently have any plans to try and team up with the Korean GSL by Gomtv/GRETECH to make such a league in the USA? if so, any details to release ? if not, i still really dig what yall got going (dallas was awesome) and I really like the community outreach. Thanks for the great work.
oh just a note, at dallas more benches for the sc2 section could of been used because everyone knows <starcraft 2 is the best> fuck halo.

MLG to las vegas make it happen! :D

Edmonton may have a few LAN's but we would love some MLG sponsored action for our oversized community.

Done! Definitely love the idea!!

MLG Teaming with GOM? Now thats an interesting idea.
MLG Lee, or Deimos any possibilities?
|
I'm pretty sure Alberta and Montreal are big hotbeds for gamers and could use more events :O
All we have is ETS

I'd love for one of you guys from MLG to get in contact with me in regards to doing this in the New England area. I am the founder of a local league started here and would love to be able to work with you guys in the future for helping to get E-sports more popular locally and in the US in general. I look forward to chatting with either one of you and I fully support your more localized approach.

LAN centers are great, but I think most people at mine just play WoW. It's a great place (really more of a big LAN cafe) but I haven't been there in a while.
There may be more potential in LAN parties than LAN centers. For example, MML/LanWar in Louisville used to be gigantic, (Artosis mentions it in his "My First LAN" story) but attendance has tanked in the past few years. An MLG presence at events like this could revitalize the LAN scene in America.
|
Last 2 questions are the hardest...
|
glompix- Great idea. Makes sense to me. Instead of just limiting this effort to LAN centers, MLG could try working in LAN parties and local/regional tournaments, since they accomplish the same thing as LAN centers when it comes to the competition department. Well, I'd say they accomplish more since they are focused on the competition part instead of trying to also sell drinks, food, etc.
Question132- There should be a lot more seating this year.
|
Make sure to take this survey as soon as possible before the survey is taken down.

Have fun sifting through the 2nd to last question. You probably should have given some choices and an extra box for fill-ins. I only put 2 since I wouldn't really go for anything other than SC2 to be honest.
