This is a really awkward topic because, given the nature of how the Loser's Bracket works, there has to be some advantage for the winner yet every time it must be absolutely daunting for the underdog who has to go into an extended series. I wish they could find some other way that would make people think less poorly of it.

There is an advantage for the winner. They don't go into the losers bracket.

Is this not incredibly obvious?

honestly, I don't quite get the point of the poll, like Travis said: it's pretty obvious what it means

It's not the fairness that bothers me but the fact that it's just totally unneccesary.

I think it's fair.

And yet, it's obviously a bad idea - at least "obvious" to the majority of people (or at least SC fans) spectating.

Just one of those things, I guess.

Its somewhat fair but i don't think it should be used in such a major tournament, if that makes any sense..

My comment may sound bias but it's not. The extended series is only unfair for certain players and fair for others.

The poll isn't asking you if you understand the rule. The first poll is asking you if you think it's fair or not, the second is asking you if you like the rule or not.

And that is exactly why we do not need the extended series rule. The loser is already being punished by having to go to the loser bracket.

The rule is perfectly fair. Someone who made it through the winners bracket should have an advantage against the player they already beat. Is it better for the spectators? No. It reduces a lot of the tension of the players being tied and having no expectations regarding the winner.

Is fairness more important than a more exciting final? Probably.

Not sure, but watching MLG right now, I definitely feel like beating this dead horse, alot, brutally, mercilessly! ^_^

The horse needs to be beaten until MLG changes this rule.

Lol, cannot help but agree

I feel it spoils the excitement of the games when people meet for a rematch. Take for example DRG v Heart... Tastless said something like 'I think DRG should win' and as soon as someone said 'Oh DRG is 2-0, extended series' he said something like 'Oh well he WILL win then'. This just takes away the fun of people re matching in a tournament for me, not as much suspense going into the match (barring epic MC comebacks v IdrA).

Exactly a bo9 is meh just make the final a bo5(bo7 might be to long for mlg type tourney) and let them play straight up.

This itself is a contradicting statement. Any rules should apply to all players equally, the fact that it is unfair for certain players in your opinion ,just means that it shouldn't be there period

Except this rule also applies to people meeting again in the Loser's, or two players meeting in the Winner's after already met in pool play

It makes no sense to have an extended series. Having a higher seed means you already have an easier road because you play less series. No need to have an additional advantage.
