Past couple of weeks i've been working on web browser themes using SC2 fanart. Now that i've completed a theme for each race, I thought I would share them:

They look amazing and I'm glad you've put these out, I use chrome at home and work!
However, I get an error message when trying to install - "Could not decode theme image".
Anyone else?

Very nice. I like the Zerg one quite a bit because it's not so intrusive like a lot of themes I see. Definitely going to use it for awhile.

Those are pretty sick. However, the protoss theme doesn't seem to be working getting the error Duckvillelol is getting "Could not decode theme image"

I do agree with Sekishusai - the Zerg colour scheme makes seeing tabs a bit difficult given the transparency - are you able to make it either less or not transparent? That would be awesome

Also exactly my opinion. All three of them look pretty sweet, though--just a little touchup on the zerg's clarity on the top bar (maybe make the theme purple?) and it'd be perfect.

I like the Protoss theme; very flashy. The Zerg theme is very chic. Somehow, the Ghost seems...off to me, but then I never liked that image of the ghost, so that's completely on me.
Now if only I could find enough reason to switch completely from Firefox to Chrome instead of only using Chrome when I don't feel like loading my usual 7-10 tabs every time Firefox starts. I'll definitely be installing that beautiful Zerg theme, though.

Yeah it's supposed to do that, however I can add a higher res version that will 'mesh' better tomorrow.

Sweet! Works well. Does seem to tile the images (2048x1152 res), which I could do without.
Also, as a favor, could you brighten the main toolbar (the one that holds home, back, refresh, etc)? It's a bit too dark to see :/

The protoss one is really cool, but could you change the top bar colour slightly- it's really close to the colour of the Forward, Back, ect buttons. Idk, make it slightly lighter maybe?

For low resolution screens, is it normal that part of the background picture is cut off? (i only see half of raynor's face with a maximized window, taskbar on left of screen lowers width even more)

When is the background used? For empty new tabs? (I use an extension to modify my new tabs and love it to death, don't want to mix things up too much.)

Great job! Using the zerg one for now since the white background makes the tiling not as bad. If you made some versions that would work better in higher rez, that'd be outstanding.

These are so awesome that it brought me out of lurking for my first post!
Questions: What is causing the hydra to have its bottom portion to be cut off? I assume its b/c of my small computer screen, but is there a way to make it adjust for the size of screen? Also, it gets more cut off when you "restore down" the window as opposed to shrink in size and proportion.
Also, it was asked early how to switch between skins once you've downloaded multiple, but I believe there was no response.

Awesome! First theme that I've used in Chrome.
I'm going to echo two things:
1) Tab transparency is pretty annoying (I'm currently using Terran). Just making it a little darker seems like the perfect fix. (It looks AMAZING right when you open Chrome or only have one or two tabs up, though!)
2) I agree with the guy calling for an iGoogle theme! That would be awesome!
My monitor is a 1920x1080 like L1F3 and Fenrisulf, but I don't get the repetition. However, I'm hooked up with HDMI, so I'm technically in 1080p and couldn't tell you how that translates. In any case, you know what it's like for us HD people now. For me, the "portraits" are just to the right of the center, but I don't see them repeat.

The themes look quite nice, but i don't fully agree with an almost all-white zerg theme... zerg are evil, bloodhungry, dirty little (and sometimes not so little) bugs - which is why i like them . White just doesn't feel right for them.
Maybe make it red/orange using colors from the Zerg ingame UI.

1) I'm using the Protoss theme, and the only thing that is "kinda" annoying is the fact that "forward" and "backward" buttons are almost as dark as the background, so they are hard to see. I obviously don't click them, but it is kinda looks annoying

On the google main page, it allows you to change the backround image to one of your choosing. I'd like to change it to the hydra image (as google is my homepage) any source for said image?

the zerg one looked really cool, but upon trying it, the tabs have their opacity set to a degree where the kerrigan in the background makes the text on the tabs unreadable, so the theme detracts from the usability of the browser, might be only my version though (8.0.552.18)
i hope its fixable

to clarify, the problem is with inactive tabs, which are transparent

I'm reading few comments and the Z one seems to have the favors of a lot of people. I believe this is because of its clearness. Having a heavy colored background is not peaceful enough to work with everyday. Anyway, I feel a black&white theme for either terran and protoss would make them more attractive to most of TLers.
As an example, I suggest this one, taken from a nice gallery :
DISCLAIMER : I have no clue about the copyrights in this gallery. I mean Mr Jack is well known for his work, and is well spread everywhere. Don't know how legal this is though

I think he knows that there is ad-block for chrome, but it's just not as good (doesn't block flash ads as well as firefox.)

Thanks OP. I love the Zerg one... however, since I keep fairly small windows, I couldn't appreciate the Z LOGO + KERRIGAN. So I flipped the frame bar horizontally.

The zerg theme is pretty awesome, but I would suggest making the tabs/address bar a slightly darker color (some shade of gray) over white because it sort of hurts the eyes to look at white on white on white.

1080p guy again. I think I see the image repetition the others were talking about now. Essentially, on the home screen (with the "speed dial" of most visited sites) the bottom inch has a repeated part of the ghost rifle.
EDIT: I'll also echo the call of black and white requests. Perfect combo of awesome and functional, perhaps?

They all look awesome, I just wish the Toss one was a bit cleaner, simpler and... whiter. I'm using the Zerg one atm because it's visually least disturbing. =)

The issue is with the tab page background, for the toss one it repeats in a large section to the right, for the terran one theres just a little bit of the rifle sticking out from the bottom

On the Zerg theme I cant see half of the hydralisk, some issue with resolution or whatever I guess.
On the Protoss theme I dont really fancy black buttons on dark grey background, slightly annoying when browsing.
The Terran theme however, I really dig this one and the blue colors goes very with the Team Liquid site

Actually, after trying all of them, I like the Zerg one best. The background color is boring but works better than the others if you have bookmarks tabs up.
Also, the protoss background doesn't work well since the picture is where all the favorites go.
I would prefer a different color but the zerg one works ok for now.

You can manually set a background picture in Speed Dial's options. I haven't yet uploaded all the background pics but you can try this:
Go to where Chrome is installed (following the shortcut)
Go up a few levels, and search for pictures.
Look around until you find something along the lines of ntp.jpg, open it to double check.
Make a copy of it on the desktop and then use that in your speed dial options.

One gripe: does anyone know if a scalable version is possible? I switch between my laptop in the day and hooking up to an external monitor once getting back from classes. 1440x900 to 1920x1080. It's a big enough difference that any "high-def" one will be pretty drastically cut off when I'm using my laptop by itself. Definitely doable, but not the best.

I'm not sure about this.
For now, save the crx file instead of running it (right click, save as) and then just running the high res when on your external monitor instead of having to redownload. I can look into scaleable versions, but I'm pretty newb at this.

With any luck, we'll eventually hit that "perfect" design! (And, maybe, my dream of a theme that scales well. I'm probably in the minority for that type of need, though. Not a logo on the actual tab, but the bar behind the individual tabs, just like where the current portraits are. And I honestly have no idea where you could find some samples for it.

Hopefully the speed increase that is showing in the new Firefox beta will last to release. It slowed down so much that I just had to switch to Chrome. Mind you, by now, I'm not sure if I'd really want to go back anyways. Chrome is just an amazing browser. I've only started to use Firefox again recently because Chrome doesn't have the capability yet for ad blockers to block ads in Livestream, which really messes up watching streams since they tend to cover up some of the most exciting and key parts of the game!

I like the original protoss one, with the dark menu bar. I'm using that one right now. One thing though, is that the navigation buttons in that version are hard to see since they're black on a grey background. If you have time, can you update that one with easier-to-see buttons?

Just installed the Protoss one. I would prefer the address and bookmark bars to have some light blue (or other unintrusive color), because it's too frakking white now. Loving the Dark Templar in the upper right corner though.

These are pretty badass. One thing I notice is people aren't used to people with pretty tall monitors I guess, but it looks pretty crappy when it's not tall enough and it just starts tiling. Highly advise making the image much taller so someone with a 27 inch screen like myself can enjoy =D

That is Webkit's feature, not Chrome's. And FYI the one in Chrome is gimped, the one in Safari is much better (though I do like Chrome as a browser)

Send me a PM with a screenshot, and I'll fix it for your resolution. It's a pretty easy fix. Unfortunately, I work on a small screen and obviously have to adjust for others' resolutions

If you have problems viewing the Zerg artwork, use the 2560x1440 download, it's right justified and should work for all resolutions.

Is there a higher-rez version of the Zerg Chrome toolbar picture? I assume it's the zerg logo in black and white plus some Kerrigan artwork, but I couldn't find the latter.
I've actually searched the entire intertubes and it's just not there. Would really love a version of this theme for firefox.

That protoss one is so going onto my browser when I get home from work, Archons look so much cooler in SC2 than they did in BW, wish they were at least as good of a unit as they were in BW though, instead of being useless against basically everything, although I did just think about seperating them from my main army and using them to flank a Zerg roach/hydra ball while my zelots and stalkers and sentries went to work from the other side...hmmm that might actually be really good. Especially late game when you can have ALOT of them... I must now try this!

would be nice to have some darker themes with less contrasting colors... especially given that I'm at my computer for about 4-5 hours a day when I get out of work, I wouldn't be able to use any of these because of the brightness / contrast.
Get some dark versions up, and I'd repay you with +65-88 INTERNETS (depending on quality, of course)

Hey - I had been using the high resolution protoss theme skin for the last two years, and recently my chrome decided to delete all my extensions so I lost it. When I try to redownload the mediafire link is down. If any1 has the skin installed, is there any chance I could get it from you?
(The theme is stored in one of the folders in C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions)
