He's doing it for the chicks.
EDIT: Anyone know if there will be streams for the event elky is in?

More like "if Elky wants", there's a sphere of no-questions-asked old players that is being tapped into with the advent of SC2.

I don't know how competitive he can be while still being a full-time (???) poker player. Then again, near the end of his career ElkY wasn't really practicing starcraft, but poker in his practice time. Kiwikaki was a near fulltime poker player throughout most of the Beta until launch. It's possible
Yeah Kiwikaki did it then it's possible ! come on man you can't compare kiwi's nearly fulltime internet poker playing with Elky's professional poker star career ...
Fulltime poker player and professionnal poker player are two way different things, while a fulltime poker player spends his time playing many tables on internet to make a living a professionnal poker player travels the world to play live events, is sponsored by companies and do tv shows and promotionnal stuff. He have contracts to fullfil and a many obligations to his sponsors. Between a 6 to 8 hours a day joblike way of playing poker on the Internet and the life of a pokerStar, there is a world of difference.
Elky play's on the biggest poker tournaments, poker TV shows, winning EPT/WPT tournaments, top 100 in WSOP main event and getting to WSOP finals and much more with 6 million dollars winnings on live events only, which means a lot more in online + sponsoring. Professional poker is a full time job, you can't just do professional poker and professional gaming, you need to choose, and i think that the eOSL will be just a crushing defeat to Elky since he won't be able to compete at the same level as Sarens or Adelscott.

elky is god damn hilarious, quits BW to become a Poker pro. i'll never forget his shades, what a queer/baller at the same time. i remember reading a lot of funny stuff about him back when i played wc3... hope he does well, however given how dedicated sc2 players are there's no way he can be a poker and sc2 pro at once... and poker is where the money is at, so =/

Elky was dominating War3 during its early phases while also playing poker and BW. Elky is a baller. I'm not expecting him to try SC2 very seriously, but if he gave it his all, he'd own.

Fucking baller! He knows how to live life.

mother#@$%@#$elky!!!! <3 <3 <3

I'm extremely confident that Elky can dominate SC2. he has connects for practice partners, a reputation for ridiculous grinding, as well as a professional competitive personality.
|
haha looking at elky's recorded games in the tlpd, I see like 10+ players from GSL1 and GSL2, who haven't played televised starcraft 1 in years
|
Elky in SC2 is sick no doubt. Cool seeing old school players playing SC2.

As much as I would love to see it, even more so because of my nationality, it isn't possible right now. I'm almost positive that he hasn't been practicing with our top french players, and we even have doubts on how far SarenS would go, should he go to the GSL, eventho he is our best player.
Best thing would be elky being able to train against koreans from oGs or top FR's like MoMaN, SarenS, Adel, KenZy or AureS to cite a few, that would definitely put him back in a good dynamic.
Mad respect tho, it takes balls coming back knowing that you are the underdog now and that everyone will be after you because of your past fame and that the current good players have way more experience at the moment than you. I can only wish him good luck, it would be sick to see him come back to kick some ass, he's a passionate guy, if he really wants to get back in the scene, he will put the effort and the time to go 10hours a day again, leaving poker aside for a bit. The pros know this well with poker, its never a question of age, for starcraft it kinda is, it's now or never, he can always go back to playing poker in a couple years if he wants to go back to SC2.
