lol his happiness isn't tied to his strength in-game. his happiness is just how happy he is and how useful he feels. and at the very end of the story even though he died, he died envisioning a newborn larvae would want to be an ultralisk because of him....so even though he didn't have the right tusks (and maybe he got the original tusks, i don't know the order of blizzard balance changes), he still fought for his honor ;o

Well the original larvae that rejected him didn't want to be an Ultralisk, and if larvae could choose who they wanted to be it wouldn't make sense. Plus it died like immediently after from the terran barbecue.
