The Intel Extreme Masters American Group Stage selections will take place on Sunday (8/29) at 2pm EDT (11pm PDT / 8pm CEST / 3am KST - 8/30) live on djWHEAT & Chill's Weapon of Choice! Four groups of four will be selected from the following seeds. Each group will feature one high seed, one medium seed and two low seed players. The Group Stage will take place September 4th and 5th starting at 2pm EDT (Noon PDT / 9pm CEST / 4am KST).

Here are the seeds:

High Seed -
Silver (T), HuK (P), IdrA (Z), drewbie (T)

Medium Seed -

TT1 (P), Painuser (T), qxc (T), KiWiKaKi (P)

Low Seed -

artosis (Z), suggy (P), machine (Z), MurDeR (T), ajtls (T), CauthonLuck (T), fenix (T), ThisisJimmy (T)

All Cup Winners were guaranteed a high or medium seed which included Silver, drewbie, TT1 and Painuser. Intel Extreme Masters competitions were given the highest priority for seeding placement with outside tournaments playing a smaller part. Streaming video will be available and players can find streams on National ESL before the event.

A change was made to qualifications, and instead of a relegation matches we will be taking players directly from groups so the top 2 in each group will advanced to the LAN finals.

How the hell is KiwiKaki a lower seed than Huk? I really don't understand that. No disrespect to huk, but I think Kiwi is the better toss.

Now that I reread it a couple times hmm sadpanda ;o.

Well Kiwikaki hasn't played in many tournaments so that would be why he's a lower seed. The same can be said to some terran players I won't name that shouldn't be as high and some lower ones that should be higher but again it goes by tournament results ^^.

Will be very interesting on who advances

HuK 1482 ELO, KOTB invitee, 2nd place IEM cup #2, 1st place wolf cup #4, 1st place ITL grand prix not counting beta achievements (LIQUIPEDIA ROX)
Kiwikaki 1281 ELO, 3rd/4th IEM cup #2

Simple choice based on past achievements. I'd question drewbie's place in the high seed more. And regarding IdrA, I suppose your conclusion that he's a class above his 15 competitors outweighs the fact that he chose to not participate in the semis/finals. Or it could be the first thing that came to my mind: PUT IDRA WITH THE 3 PEOPLE HE CHEWED OUT IN A GAME BEFORE ! 1 one !1

Oh, ESL, you do not disappoint.

the real question is why drewbie and silver are higher seeds that qxc

Murder used to be a Pro (might have been semi) for Warcraft 3. Very solid terran player he also streams here on TL as murdersc2 if you haven't seen it which obviously you haven't .

He hasn't done many tournaments due to late sign ups would be another reason his names not out there yet

This reminds me of the BroodWar All Star Game now XD

Looking forward to some awesome games, the last set of IEM ones were all really good. Go protoss, one of you guys must make it to the semis this time!

god i really hope painuser doesnt mass tanks in every single matchup. it may bring success but it is hardly entertaining.

Look at all those Terrans. I would like to see more games in tournaments where T is not part of the matchup name.
Weird, last time I checked the UN said you need to have at least 200 APM and be rainbow league to be called human. —Liquid`TLO

the seeds are determined by who got what place in each tournament

the higher seeds all got 1st place in each cup, the medium seeds got 2nd, while the low seeds got top 4.

I thought so too but Huk lost to silver in the first IEM cup. So I don't really think that was how they did it .

Also Nony didn't qualify its why he's not in this don't even think he tried

I'm unclear as to why idrA is considered American? He's lived in Korea for the entirety of his SC2 career.

Maybe because he was born in and grew up in and has citizenship in America?
