Love the chrome/silver protoss :O
Would be nice if Cyann colour was the Frozen Zerg textures. The problem is this would likely cause some competitive issues. I recall in UT2k4, when I played it way back, people would change opponent's textures to bright red or bright blue, and gain an advantage in spotting the enemy. I could forsee similar issues to SC2, someone would make a texture that would give you an advantage, be it retexturing invisible units to be visible or something similar.

Those are shaders, so no, won't happen.

I did this for clearer viewing of a possible z v z where a hatch happens to be close to the enemy or a destroyed hatch in the middle of the map still has larva and the player then chooses to produce units. But mostly i did it cuz i thought it was cool ...........
O_O...Wow...
I LOVE this. Only this gives me so many ideas. Ty lots for it. :D

Will this get you banned playing on bnet?
|
Edit: nevermind, I forgot that you had to edit the basefile with the modded textures. Just follow instructions for frozen zerg awesomeness.
Although I am having trouble with the air units and creep textures.
I know the hydra model wasn't working correctly, but for me, neither do the air or creep textures. Is anyone else having the same problem?

This is awesome! Thanks!
And lol at this, a bit more "fruity" Zealot.

God.... i love that fruity zealot must be nice for zerglings to eat

I have found this protoss re-texture by the same guy who made the frozen zerg, RandomUser12. It's called Dark Protoss. Here are some pictures:
His chrome Protoss looks really cool. Here is the link to the actual thread I found this texture at. The download is at the end of the page.

Added more team color to the zealot and changed the stalker up. I changed the stalker cuz i didn't like how bright silver he was for being a dark toss unit. Also changed his team color a bit cuz i think it looks cooler this way. The zealot i did mostly because people playing on low told me that they couldn't distinguish zealots very well since they can't see the psi blade colors. I also changed the void ray metal color to match the stalkers

Can you use these custom textures on Battle.net or does it do an md5 check on your .mpq when you connect?

u can use them no problem.

Really cool, but unfortunately against BNet's ToS and could get your account revoked.

Randomuser's retextures are all just flat filters/fiddling with color sliders. People got all excited about them and I was thinking "meh I was doing that with graphicconverter and video game sprites back when I was 14".
Now, the teamcolor changes, those are waaay more useful and awesome, though I'm not sure I agree with making the void ray quite so dark. It doesn't even seem to really match the stalker, and it is technically supposed to be a combination of dark templar and high templar technologies.

In case you didn't already know, most pros in SC1 already play with green/red teamcolors on (alt + z I believe) so that it's easier to see things like drops at you base using the minimap.
Editting textures wouldn't affect that so much. Invisible units don't really have their textures displayed unless you can see them, in which case the cyan sheen Blizzard game them makes them pretty dang obvious unless you're playing on low. And editting a unit texture isn't going to make that dot on the minimap shine any brighter than pressing alt+z would. Even if you made your opponent's units show up as bright pink most of the time I don't think it would really help you win like it might in an FPS where hitboxes are not always completely obvious.

I sometimes had a problem with not being able to immediately recognize an enemy probe from MY probes. So i solved that by putting team color stripe on the top of the probe. I doubt I'll be confused again.

it seems like we forgot about this.. it would be cool if people picked up modding the in game units and UI instead of just lame backgrounds!
|
Still think the frozen zerg is way cooler. Hope some people can pick this up.
