According to the other thread, online pre-orders are supposed to get their key sent to their email electronically that they made the pre-order with.

But the in-store does not require a full pre-order to redeem the key.

ALSO, the online pre-orders are not allowed to refund their pre-order once they have received a key.

Luls haha.. yeah i sort've did the same thing however there wasnt a line... sorta just gave a blank stare wondering where the key was until i looked at my receipt and i was like oh haha just kidding and hurried home to get the game up.. im currently downloading it !!!

Thaks so much for the tip! I went to the GameStop 2 minutes from my school (UNC) and picked up my key after preordering. I talked to a guy on the phone and at first he was like 'yeah we haven't gotten them in yet check back' but I went in to preorder the collectors edition and the key came on my receipt!

Just called the gamestop and they confirmed beta key for 5 dollars to preorder.
Yeah. I'm goin to go right now pick up a beta key for 5 dollars. lol forget all these beta contest.

it's true. i just got back from gamestop. Pre Ordered SC2 for 5$ and got my recipt with the beta key =]

ps i live in Portland Oregon. Guy at the counter said its all Gamestops but the keys are limited so they might run out fast.

Yeah you bring up an interesting point... i just want everyone to be aware that this is common for most retail stores for the company to release something and the employee not be 100% aware of whats going on.. even the manager.. When i woke up this morning i went online to get a few GS numbers and locations in my area and on the first call i talked to the manager and she said she had no idea what i was talking about and stated that no gamestops in the area will be receiving the keys.. I was so bummed out but i wanted to be 100% sure so i called another one and he stated that they do have them and that i just need to preorder the game so just wanted to let everyone know that even if a store says that they dont have them they are just not aware yet of whats going on

I went in to the Gamestop here and (small town in CO keep in mind) and they had keys. I asked if I could still get one since I pre-ordered a while ago and the Manager there jsut cancelled my old preorder and made a new one, and gave me a key.

Key worked just fine and I was able to get my friend on finally.

Yeah great point, make sure you ask about it. If they have no idea, just say it was posted on their website saying with a pre-order you should be getting a key.

At that point, assuming you didn't berate the poor fellow or lady behind the telephone, they will politely check and confirm that you are correct.

Just don't be a tool about it guys, makes gamers look bad. I worked at GS for a while, getting an angry call because a customer is hawking a story/situation and I was ignorant to it is pretty irritating.

Gamers are irrational and emotional people, and some of them fly off the handle over this stuff.

I've been wanting to preorder for a while for the CE, but since I don't know my exact mailing address come shipping day, I don't want to do so yet. I already have a key luckily, but it would be niec to make sure I have my hands on the CE for sure.
