1366x768 for Laptops

These days a lot of laptops have a 1366x768 native resolution... If you're one of the people playing SC2b on such a machine you've probably noticed that the maximum resolution option is only 1280x768.

To fix this:
Go to "My Documents" > "StarCraft II Beta" > open the "variables.txt".
Search for width=1280 and replace this with (or just add these 2 lines if width=x does not exist in your variables.txt):

width=1360
height=768

Note that this is 1360, not 1366. This is most likely because the game only supports true 16 : 9 resolutions and 1366x768 is a bit off. When you start SC2 again you'll notice a minor graphical glitch at the top and bottom bars of the opening menu; they are cut off on the sides because the graphics in SC2 only go up to 1280 or whatever.

You can now play on full screen without having the black side bars

I'm pretty sure this will be fixed correctly in the final release. I found this information on the Blizz forums btw. :D

My laptop overheats if I play sc2 on it :p i don't know how anyone could use a laptop for sc2 lol

i use laptop and the only thing iv noticed is a minor lag for my drag box

I play sc2 on my laptop, and I dont get the bars on the sides. I know what your talking about though cause I get them for sc1. Dont know why I get them for sc1 and not sc2... none-the-less thanks for the info and I'll try that next time I'm on broodwar.

To Sensfail : Very easily.. a mouse and keyboard plugs into the side... ever heard of usb? lol

thats not good what graphics card do you have? that could be a problem

I think he was talking about how laptops are not very powerful lol

But I'm pretty sure there are plenty of laptops with good graphics card and processors that will run SC2 on Ultra. You just have to hand over a whole bunch of cash : P

My budged laptop runs really smoothly on Low settings so definitely playable on laptops.

edit: on OP pretty good to know definitely info that people can use

i use a laptop for sc2 and it never heats up, i also stream on it. (512 mb hd 4330 + core 2 duo 2 ghz)

I actually fixed this problem yesterday, I just updated my drivers and full screen worked.

Before hand it was stuck on 1024 x 768 with no options to adjust the resolution but upgrading the nvidia drivers (260m) worked

P.S. @ poster far above.. my laptop runs sc2 on ultra fine..
