It seems that the majority of people already in the beta has received a friend-invite.. did Blizzard just potentially double the player-base or did I miss something?

I think they just woke up to account sharing. the overall player hours might not increase as much as you'd think.

If it makes any of you people without a beta feel better..I can only play the damn game on 'low' settings. Maybe wouldn't matter to everyone but blah..it really looks like poop on it

To me it'd be 5x as fun on ultra.

I got also a friend invite.And now 2 of my friends are endlessly spamming me to give it to one and not the other.GJ blizzard to make my head burst.

Has anyone had trouble with their friend-invite key? Mine repeatedly gives the error "not valid".

I never fail to laugh about the fact that a fair majority of the beta-test player base will probaly not contribute a damn thing, let alone submit any actual balance/feedback. They will play a few games, like the flavour of the month game, they treat SC2 as, and then go play something retarded mobile Iphone game.

The entire opt-in scenario is flawed, mainly because there is no differientiation of users other than system specs, in order to filter out the people who actually contribute feedback and useful balance changes, and the people who couldn't give less of a shit about anything.

Seeing long-term Starcraft fans, and even previous useful beta-testers getting the shaft, when they could actually be supplying Blizzard with vital feedback on their newest popular game, brings somewhat a tear or two to my eyes.

And now the said people with keys, will get another one to throw away at their useless friends or sell them at market price on ebay. In the meantime, people, like myself, who are ready to give an honest look at the beta and contribute some much needed testing and feedback gets left in the dust.

yea yea, I get all that with the "we'll just add more keys" bullcrap, and we need serverload testing, but seriously, stop pretending people like WoW dudes, actually contribute anything other than one more spot the rest of us won't be putting to some good use.

You do realize that Blizzard knows that and intentionally does that?

They want the Feedback that a large player-base provides. They want to test their servers, look at bugs, look at the game-statistics and if just 1 in 100 players provide written feedback, it's more than they can read.

The problem with your point fischer, is that you assume the only point of the beta is to get people to provide written accounts of what they have seen. While those are important, they need to test things like battle.net stress levels, as well as getting valuable statistics for winning races etc. Also while they want sc2 to be enjoyable at a pro gaming level, they also want it to be very accessible as a 'my first rts' game as well, and just because something is balanced for progammers doesn't mean it will be for the rest of us.

It says "This Battle.net account does not include an associated copy of StarCraft II....". Do I have to wait a bit or do I need to download my own client?

Well did you use that key friend gave you on YOUR battle.net account and are you loggin' in with ur username/pass? Kinda stupid, but you might forgot to add that key to ur acc.
