What are your thoughts on Real ID? Personally I don't like it. I do not like having my Real Name visible at all in game. I do not even use my real name when making accounts in Single Player games. If I did it would be first name only. When I entered my battle.net account months prior to the beta, entering my email and Real Name. I thought it was completely private and did not know about this Real ID scheme. I don't think real names look good in the sci-fi land of SC2. e.g. |)4RK-N1NJ4 is online LastHopeOfProtoss is online Andrew Smith is online I am not happy sharing my Real Name with all of my internet buddies, but I would have to do this to benefit from the full featured Real ID scheme. Some people who I have gamed with for a long time I am on first name basis, but I am quite happy keeping it at that. These are the people I want to be on my full featured friend list. I do not have any trouble keeping in touch with my real friends. Sorry B.net I don't need you for that at all. I much prefer a system like Steam's... AccountName (Private/Static) UserName (Public/Dynamic) All I have to do to cross game with friends is add their Username, which they can change freely (no fucking Microsoft 800 points for the privilege, at least the new B.Net 2.0 doesn't seem quite so shitty as GFWL, but it is NOT FAR OFF). We are kept in touch by our SteamIDs, an impersonal ID number. Why does Battle.net 2.0 offer any of this reasonable middle ground? Why is the only choice between complete public transparency or a crippled friend list? GFWL don't understand gamertags and it seems Blizzard don't understand privacy. btw, teapot is NOT my real name. LOL!

But It doesn't address a further security problem that to add Real ID friends. You do so by sharing your email. Which also happens to be your Battle.net login. I really can't see how they ever thought this was a good idea.
