Still, I don't think it's necessarily imbalanced. Outside of the obvious counters (Ghosts, HT), it most likely will be weak against high-mobility plays as well since you need to keep everything together, and queens are still somewhat slow units even on creep (though CatZ did show the possibilty of ferrying them with overlords).

i didn't participate in the beta, but i thought i heard that early on queens were crazy imba and blizzard nerfed them down to try to ensure they remained almost exclusively defensive units. since this may be changing and the nerfs blizzard made to reapers and barracks requiring supply depots, i think some balance changes will happen to hydras, queens, and some of the counters in upcoming patches.

If the problem is on Day[9]'s end it is apparently a very, very specific issue (at least by the ratio of problem replies to fine replies). I would still lean to the issue being on the viewers end of things. (Limited connection, too many programs eating bandwidth, etc., etc.) I've tried everything. I've booted up in safe mode with networking, I've closed explorer.exe, I've tried Chrome, Firefox, Opera, even frickin IE8, I've updated my Flash, I've updated my Java, I've updated my gorramned BIOS, I've tried my laptop, I tried my old Apple G4 laptop - they all lag. The issue might be with my network then, but I doubt it. I can watch other ustreams fine, I can watch Justin.tv's 720p streams fine, I can even stream 1080p YouTube videos. I have a 3 Mbps connection. I only recently started lagging - up until 2 weeks ago, I was virtually lag free. This all is moot though - mods can't fix it, Day9 can't fix it, Team Liquid can't fix it. Only ustream can fix it. Until then, someone, for the hate of lag, please restream.

I would suggested someone who is having a lag issue's run a traceroute to see if there an unreasonable network path to ustream.

Yet.. Today's funday monday was incredibly informative, and very relevant to the real games. Going mass queen is beatable, but it also forces a different unit mix from your opponent, so I love it -- and if your opponent doesn't build templars or ghosts, you can fuckin win with it! Who'd have thought? Excellent day9 daily, today -- I would recommend every zerg player watches it at least once!

I actually see mass queens having its own niche in the future and I want to see it in a tournament some day.

What we're probably about to witness is a huge paradigm shift, similar to when JulyZerg revolutionized mutalisk harass in BW. Or even better, when Bisu perfected the forge fast-expand for PvZ and it became the new standard Protoss opening.

Not that much hand speed actually required to pull it off, but I agree. Doubt it'll get nerfed, hell maybe it's even entended that zerg start creeping to their opponents and use mass queens to support expensive t3. On February 08 2011 13:38 Feb wrote: um, you watching the catz games? unless you want every pro game to be zvz, think they need to do something about their unkillability. their other possibility is transfuse reduces queen health to 1hp (kinda like dark archons' mind control in broodwar) one ghost EMP. Marauders focus firing. Na, there are lots of things that can work well enough this mass queen business.

Nope, I'm in NZ and have a (v reasonable for the distance) 170 ping, with very few spikes or drops when pinging/tracert-ing ustream.tv Was all good 2 weeks back, now absolute rubbish, though JustinTV and other ustream work Day[9]TV just doesn't anymore.... leaving me a reluctant VOD viewer ![]()

Here's a link: http://shortyawards.com/category/gaming Just F.Y.I. getting first place in votes would help him, but it doesn't earn him the win. Top 6 contenders all get picked and sent over to the judges who will review each person along with their votes and tweet comments and THEY will decide who wins the award. So Sean already has that in the bag, what he needs is not more votes necessarily but quality votes with meaningful comments about why he should win. Although getting voted first place is nice too.
