This is kinda awkward though. I could imagine that talking to a camera knowing that no one can hear you at the very moment would make you feel stupid. Also, there would be no questions.

He wont have alot of problems ones he have settled in at Ustream, after all he just got there and he havent done alot of casts on it yet so he still gotta get used to it, i have seen several channels with over 5-10k veiwers and no lag what so ever " live ". so give it some time.
After all you can watch the VODs after the show if you got hugh problems under his live shows + you can even download them if you really want to.

Those of you with ustream buffering VOD problems, use a firefox addon called antbar, You can download the ustream vod in its entirety, and watch it at your leisure with no buffering. That is all.

so if im still having unbearable lag during livecasts on ustream (loads for 10 seconds, plays half a second, repeat), what can I do about it?

The problem is the ustream player for recorded ep is really, really poor. Live will be an improvement for sure, but a better solution for recorded episodes would be awesome. Blip.tv updates soon?

wow so when I was watching Day 9 on ustream it went smooth. He did a stress test or w/e and now its terrible for me... I can hear the audio fine and all but the video stops after 3 seconds 5 seconds tops. I can refresh, video goes 3-5 seconds, stops but I can hear the voice fine. So lame

Urgh. The stream is really, really laggy for me. Like others have said, it stops every 3-5 seconds without fail, and intermittently skips forward, making it nigh unwatchable.
The problem might be on my end, though; my computer is pretty bad, and I've had issues viewing live events in the past (though never nearly this bad). I want to say the second time I watched a Ustream Day9 daily, it was smooth as butter...but for the last few, it's been exactly like this.
Of course, the casting itself seems (from what I can tell) to be great, as always. So keep up the good work!

Just to counteract all of the negative posts, I have never had any lag watching any of your ustream casts unless it was you crashing the stream. 
I hope you keep with your current setup. Blip.tv is awesome, Ustream is awesome.

Spam refresh if you guys are having problem (sometimes it doesn't work) but you might just be on a bad server.
Also it seems that ustream cast are a bit more demanding than livestream so some people may just be unable to watch them. (not confirmed)
At least the blip.tv VODs(assuming the instant livestream VODS dont work for you either) should be flawless for almost anyone ^_^

blip.tv is awesome. I came home to my parents house for the summer and we're on 768k DSL here and I can stream stuff from blip.tv without a problem. If you can't watch a show on there you have issues (or dialup...).

Yeah it's like 1/2 second out of step.

Stream is smooth as butter and fantastic quality. The audio seems to be out of sync when you are on webcam mode.
