I think the players just not hungry, interview with Debruyne sums up why he aint playing, he literally said he not got the hunger anymore because he done it all lol.

I do blame Pep for this though, for literally 2 seasons in a row he has not replaced Debruyne, not sell him, but get someone to take his place, Foden isn't it, he plays him outwide all last season, and no one else close to the quality in his squad, so thats on him now they have 0 creativity apart from Foden, but he isn't a 30 yard eye of needle pass, he is close, tiki taka passes so they missing a huge hole.

He never trusts his wingers anymore, playing Nunes outwide for like 3 games in a row was wild, today again Bernado Silva is in 0 form, yet he plays him outwide and has Doku and Savinho on the bench, crazy.

He needs to morph one of the midfielders he has into a holding midfielder and go back to his 4-1-4-1 formation, 1 of them needs to sit, probably Gundogan then play wingers and attacking midfielders behind Haaland.

If they don't sign multiple starters in January, they will struggle to finish top 10. In the summer Debruyne and Bernado will go 100%, defenders like Stones and Walker might want out as well, it is a wild time for City right now.

huijsen seems to be an amazing find for bournemouth, interesting background in that he was born in the netherlands but moved to spain as a kid and represents their youth teams now. guy is a monster on set pieces.

also he's just a chill guy.

Jeroen Rijsdijk (ex-coach of Sparta) used to play at the local FC in my village at the semi pro level. Used to watch him as a kid. Never expected him to become coach in the eredivisie.

As a neutral it really feels that United’s insistence that Amorim come immediately and not wait until the summer hasn’t really suited either United or Sporting

I find him an impressive guy but throwing him, a coach known to have a certain preferred system at a squad that doesn’t really have the personnel to play that way, who were already demoralised in the midst of a season, didn’t make much sense to me.

Some coaches are more flexible tactically, or their strength is in man-management. Some have a very defined style and kinda need the right personnel, I’d kinda peg Amorim in that latter category.

And then on the side it’s buggered up Sporting’s run, and they were playing some great stuff.

For United the big target is the start of next season though. If this half a year gets Amorim integrated earlier and helps them plan ahead the summer transfer window, they're probably fine taking some losses. Some European football wouldn't hurt at all, but that's probably not the top priority right now.

For Sporting it's a disaster.

Maresca showing some major struggles last two games as well, i hope he saw them so he can adapt but vs Everton the changes didn't come soon enough at all and today well, no idea what he was doing with Neto and Gusto but that was shocking lol.

Oh well, before the season we wanted top 4 and can't complain with anything outside of that, clearly we are not in any title race.

This was a lovely day as a Liverpool supporter. City draw, United and Chelsea lose. If Arsenal draw or lose to Ipswich tomorrow that would just be the cherry on top.

Curtis Jones praising Klopp for the team. Nice! Arne Slot should know this season is on Klopps squad building and hes just reaping the rewards

give slot credit where its due. youre right it is pretty much the same squad as klopps, but klopp still finished 9 points behind city last season and 7 behind 2nd place. slot is arguably doing a better job with the same squad than klopp might have, which is impressive given its only his first season

I contend that the midfield rebuild was way more suited for a more controlled approach to the game compared to Klopps heavy metal football style, and maybe Liverpool recruited their new midfield with that in mind. We can see how the more calm controlled approach from Slot has really solidified Liverpool's play through the middle of the park compared to Klopp's last season where he still employed a very direct and long ball approach to getting in behind the lines. Especially with Slot playing Diaz through the middle as a false 9 which has really made a difference, like a Firmino regen.

Perhaps it was Klopp's stubbornness not to employ the team in a more 4-2-3-1 controlling style and stuck hard to his 4-3-3 bomb up the field approach. I think in some games last season he did try to be more solid and the team looked quite good (Man City at home for example was a game that I fondly remember where we might not have gotten the win but we definitely felt super controlled).

Please, the difference is that Slot's Liverpool doesn't have any injuries while Klopp had to play kids and Endo for the 23038th match in a row for the League cup because he had no other choice.

Also the other clubs were performing better

Klopp was playing the kids and still getting results. And you could argue that the more aggressive style of play puts a lot more wear and tear on the players than Slot's more controlled style where they don't need to exert themselves throughout a game, thus indirectly causing the injuries to the squad. Also the fact that being behind and having a lot of energy expended to recover from a deficit also went into the fatigue that the squad as a whole faced last season. We're not really seeing that as much, most of our games this season have looked really calm and controlled, meaning even though a player like Gravenberch has played basically every minute this season, he's not getting as much wear and tear compared to like Macca/Endo were last season in a similar role.

Also, Endo was a first choice DM for a long time and he would play Macca/Szobo higher whenever he had the choice compared to playing Macca as the sole DM with Jones instead of Endo. Endo was excellent for us last season, he just doesn't fit Slot's system as much.

Also idk if I'd agree other clubs were performing better last season. I think that as a whole the league is actually improving, but maybe not the top of the table teams (City are shite this season and Arsenal have had injuries to key players but also can't really find consistent goals from open play).

Saka is out for 'many, many, many weeks' according to Arteta'. That's a pretty big setback for Arsenal's title chase.

With both Manchester teams crumbling and Spurs struggling, there's probably 2 UCL bookings up for grabs for smaller teams. Forest and Newcastle seem to be the current frontrunners, but who knows. Bournemouth could be having some European football next season too.
