Chelsea and Mr Lukaku continue on! Looked very weak in the first half as Saul debut and the 7 changes were not helpful vs a very good looking Villa side. Some super saves from Mendy, clinical finishing from Mr Lukaku and Chelsea win comfortably 3-0 and move on, what a joy it is to have a striker :D (first since Diego Costa <3 )

Juventus had a really underwhelming 2nd half vs Napoli and some horrible individual errors and all that. No proper pressure or push when they're 1 goal down. 1 point after 3 games.

Not sure how long Allegri will last with performances like that and not sure if him leaving is going to change anything with the current roster. It really looks like a team that's lost its fire.

something something ronaldo leaving etc etc

Still buzzing.

I don't mind the crash, it's been such a romantic couple weeks.

How this was not believed to be a red card is beyond imaginable.

It was but people are arguing it isn't even a foul. Hopefully Pascal gets a match ban as well.

The problem is: would he have gotten a red card if elliott hadnt been injured by it?

Ref basically confirmed he wouldn't have...this is diffo to the "regular" scissor tackle because its more of a "leg sweep" tackle where the object is to "dive in" sweep the ball back but his leg got tangled in Elliot's and it caused the break.

Elliot himself tweeted today and said it was not a red card it was pure accident btw.

I think part of the disagreement here is that we've got that one live feed angle since the broadcast policy is to not show any replays on gruesome injuries. It obviously serves the purpose of protecting the viewer and people involved to some extend, but it also makes it even harder to have a discussion about what happened and what kind of lessons could be learned.

since when was censorship of injuries a thing? i swear weve seen on tv before multiple angles of bad injuries. anyhow censoring this stuff is stupid. some people might find it disturbing but i for one would like to be presented with all the information of what happened. if i find it too graphic then i can choose not to see it myself

The handling of Eriksen's case during Euros got quite a bit critique. Most directors are probably on their toes and playing it safe as possible right now.

I'm a bit torn on this one. It seems like a good idea to protect the players & refs from potential online abuse and experience may be tough for more sensitive viewers too. Then again at the same time these risks exists in every game of football from beer league to top tier. The better we understand decisionmaking, risks and consequences on the pitch, the safer the game is for everyone.

There are some injuries that are so horrific that I don't want to see them. People that are unconscious or limbs that are broken into oblivion both fit the mark for me. I'm fine with one replay to show just what happened - but I don't want repeat slowmos from different angles to really let me appreciate a given leg-break.

Eriksen's case was because we kept seeing him on the ground.

Thats obviously unnecessary. But the "how did it happen" can definitely be shown

Not everyone needs several repetitions of a leg clearly breaking while watching TV during dinner with the family.

And if it was "too graphic" you usually only know after someone puked on the table or couch. And it is also not so much fun to always be on alert, so you can quickly turn off the TV, because you see an incident and now expect that you will get delivered 7 slowmo angles of the same injury.

Exactly. The problem with Eriksen wasn't that they showed what happened. It was that they kept zooming in on how he was still unconscious and that it was super serious. In a game that kids are definitely watching. It's considerably more gruesome and problematic than a bare titty during a superbowl. The same goes for an open fracture or any other serious injury. It happens on live tv, and it's fine. Showing how it happened is also fine. But you don't need a super slowmo zoom in on someone´s leg as it snaps with blood spraying over the grass as if it's a Tarantino movie. Nor do we need to see the paramedics applying CPR and a defibrilator to Eriksen on live tv.
