Currently 4 points in PL can land you on 5th position and 3 points 19th. I know it's just 3 rounds into the season, but that still seems extraordinarily even.

Hehe. I still like Barca quite a bit, but it sure makes a more interesting season if they're not running away with the La Liga within first 10 games

How is Ibrahimovic still so good? Is it because the defence of MLS teams is so bad?

that and he's in fantastic physical shape however he never depended on his pace. You get slower after hitting 30, but you don't get dumber, less accurate or worse stamina wise, and if he has lost anything flexibility wise that prolly doesn't show because he had so much to go on.

I think main reason why people quit in their early-mid 30s is that it's kinda expected and they're not motivated enough, it's not because you can't compete physically after hitting 35. (exception for injuries obviously).

It has changed so much in the last couple of decades with all the new knowledge and implementation of diets and physical training. Players like Giggs and Maldini continuing into their late 30s on top teams is a real eye opener. I think we can expect this to become the new normal for top players who avoid major injuries.

The main problem is the hunger / motivation. Also you need longer periods to recover. But it sure is possbile

Just look at Federer / Williams

Well Federer will totally be an exception to the rule in the history of sports. He is still outrunning young players at his age. Thats his special playstyle which alloed longevity

Obviously Federer is gifted. And who needs stamina when you have one of the best services and aggressive style anyway

But I don't think he is that much of an exception in general. I just mentioned Serena as well. And there were a lot of football players who played till 40. Buffon, Pizarro, ...
Also there is someone like the Dirkman Nowitzki.

That is beautiful lol. I think in european football you never see a player get that much space to just.. wait for it. But super pretty.

I dunno. Not at top levels, but this is Flamengo vs Ceará... it's one of the top teams in the league vs one of the weakest. Plenty of defensive blunders in weak teams in European leagues too. Outside of England, anyway.

Like the Norwegian league is definitely a lower level than this but I can't imagine the defenders not crowding him, it's not really an ability thing as much as a 'focus on defensive pressure' thing.

What a Weekend.

Saturday went to Braunschweig-Würzburg and we won 5-2. At the same time our friends from Magdeburg won 5-1 against the Lamas from Munich. Sunday we drove down to the south to watch our other friends Mannheim and they won 4-3 after being down 2-3. Rarely been so giddy after a weekend of football. Saw 2 games with a combined goalcount of 14 goals live and both ended in "our" favour.

14 goals combined + 3 wins for the Axis of Evil
