Gotta have some luck to win those tournaments. They hit the woodwork twice against the tournament favourites, could've ended 2-2 and who knows what might have happened in a penalty shootout.

I only saw the highlights of the match though, but knock-out tournaments are often decided by a good portion of luck, and Argentina hasn't been on the right side of it, given their multitude of second places in the last decade.

Judging from the highlights, Argentina played pretty well compared to earlier matches in the tournament. Brasil just a bit too much quality and they had some bad luck with refereeing decisions as well.

The 'with Argentina' part is the hard one. Haven't seen copa so maybe they improved, but they usually have Messi pick the ball up at the middle line and then expect him to score somehow when there's 8 players between him and the goal Then they all stay static so he can't use his insane through pass skills and he has to go on some 6 player solo dribble and gets stopped and they wonder why he can't carry the team.

Biggest mistake of Argentina is treating Messi like he is Messi.

if they actually treated him like a normal field player Argentina would have easily won a title already.

Lost the WC in overtime, lost 2 Copa America finals in penalties. They definitely did something very wrong to achieve those terrible results.

There results are better than the players they have. People overrate Argentina, they had a lot of mediocre players these years.

Argentina relies on Messi for everything. Although I'd be pissed off as well that those penalties were never called is a joke and not once was VAR called for.

Another example: Tagliafico getting carded for a non-foul and Casemiro kept getting away with yellow card offenses.

Even with the sub-par play in the last 4 matches, they could've won this tournament with a little bit more luck. They played way better in the semi-final, Messi included. Brasil was just more clinical with their chances and Argentina had bad luck with the ref.

Well, Brazil has +10 goal difference with 0 goals against

Argentina did play well but Brazil has been like this with Tite which has lost like 2 matches in his time, very cautious with stupidly fast and effective counters.

Europe vs Europe matches are usually boring (men too). Thats why I love the world cup more than the Euros. Quality may be lower but entertainment is much higher
