I think Liverpool's defense deserves some credit for making it such a boring game. There were quite a few potentially dangerous attacks, but they did well to put out those fires before anything escalated further. | ||

For those who don’t have context. Wydad had a correct goal and a penalty not counting in the home game, even though VAR was available. Referee wouldn’t reverse his decision. Referee was punished by 6 months ban after the game for suspicion of deliberately making the wrong call even though VAR clearly indicated what the correct call was. Today in the away game, match officials claimed VAR is not functional because of technical difficulties. However, after immense pressure from Wydad they got it working prior to halftime. When Wydad scored an equalizer, today’s refs claimed it was offside. Wydad asked the ref to check the now functional VAR. The refs were reluctant, then suddenly match officials claimed VAR had broken down again so conveniently so the goal wouldn’t be given (with clear signs of vandalism on the system). Wydad refused to continue the game unless the goal is checked, the ref waited for over 60 mins then announced Esperance as winners.
