A player who plays in < 10% of his club's matches technically has just cause to terminate his contract. If they purposely put him in for a couple minutes of a few matches just to circumvent that rule, he would no doubt win against them in a legal dispute.

As Platini said, "it's not the great players who are expensive, it's the average ones" look at all PL transfers : Morata, Lukaku, Kyle Walker, Matic, Pogba etc etc It's crazy but 2X Walker for Dembélé is a bargain.

No he doesn't. As much as I like the idea of letting him sit around for half a year or whatever we're not seen as a top 5 team in the world. We are good enough to give young talent the feeling that they can make it to world class while with us, to make that last step necessary to become a possible starter at Barca/Real. They know it, the management knows it. Now if you start to forbid a transfer the next generation will think twice if the club is the right choice for the next step. And at that point we have to buy overpriced midclass instead of world class talents. And while it's perfectly fine to punish Dembele for what he did, we should've known it could happen - he did it back at Rennes. If Barca really only offered 70m that's of course laughable. 3 weeks ago it might've been a fair starting point for negotiations but when you get 222m you can't expect anybody to give up a top3 u20-player for less than half days before the first cup game/week before the season starts.

It was different at Rennes, the coach did not want to play him because he was not ready for ligue 1. He therefore refused to sign a professional contract. He hired a new agent and they agreed to stay with a release clause of €5M (forbidden in France btw). The coach finally started him and he teared ligue 1 apart because he's good, winning rookie of the year award. Dortmund paid €15M + incentives because their sponsor is owned by Rennes' owner and it was the best way for Rennes to not lose too much money. It's shady and there is a trial in process. It's still toddler's game compared to a guy like Mendes/Raiola who are also nothing compared to Zahavi. The coach who refused to play him is regarded as one of the worst coach they ever had at the club btw and we still laugh about Dembélé "not being physically ready for ligue1".

Unless you're filthy rich, you don't just throw away $100m just to make a point. Apparently PSG is trying to get Mbappe for 160m or sth lol i'm loving this summer

Mbappe asked Madrid for 12m a year as that is what PSG is offering him. RM withdrew and said, "Congratulations and good luck at PSG."

I'm not sure if money is really destroying football. It's not leaving football, it's given to smaller teams, it's always been like that. Maybe in 10 years when only big teams will be able to purchase good players and they'll make a super-league, then we'll lose interest? I like that football isn't a very predictable sport, but Champions League big games are awesome. what if we had the top 20 teams play all year long? The bottom 5 beating the top 5 would still be an upset... Then the challenge would be to keep the teams outside the league financially safe so they can still grow and have a shot at the top league. Whether we like it or not, something like this will happen anyway. The clubs with the most influence will not let UEFA make them lose their status, just look at what happened with the new CL rules. And the average spectator will be thrilled to see Real vs MU or Barça vs Bayern more often...

Do you remember how hyped everyone was when Mourinho joined Real? We were all El Clasico here El Clasico there and then we got like 6 of them within a whole year and since then no one gives a crap about Real vs Barca.

If they did a super league, it's just be 2 games per year + playoffs (if that's the system). When I watch e-Sports, big teams play each other how many times a year? 4-5 times? It's still exciting if the competition they're playing in matters. A league game where one of the team has already won the league isn't too exciting, but inside a super league it would be... You'd still have 5 monsters like now, so games between Barcelona and say Liverpool or Napoli would not have the same intensity as Barcelona vs Madrid or Bayern. I really don't know what I would prefer to be honest. I understand smaller teams should continue having some importance, but when I watch sport, I want to see the very best (just my opinion). I would never watch women football for that reason. I don't watch the national qualifiers, the heats or semi finals of Olympics 100m dash, but the final brings me a lot of emotion.

What about Murdoch's ManU, Berlu's Milan, Agnelli's Juve, Abramovic' Chelsea, Vasiliev's Monaco and all the fiscal support in Spain? The only relatively clean big club is Bayern, all the others are a joke. I just want them to change the god damn rules, no one can compete with financial juggernauts. PSG's shopping list is still nothing compared to Berlu's one when he arrived at Milan and we have yet to see the French government destroy blood sample of their players like it happened in Spain or Juventus who got away despite being declared guilty of mass doping. Ban PSG from all UEFA competition for all I care, they're by far the most hated club in France and our championship is a farce because of them. Fix the financial distribution of the game, I'm tired of UCL being 16 clubs from 4 countries when there used to be big clubs from all over Europe.
