The jump ball call was worse with both Hawks standing out of bounds. Pretty funny.
Still though, they shouldn't have put themselves in that position. They can't control refs making bad call but they can control not blowing a 26 point lead.

Lebron fouling out in a mostly meaningless game is possibly the lamest form of justice considering he commits 5 fouls a quarter in your average playoff game.

And count me among those people who like team success to be a huge part of the MVP vote. Jimmy Butler is a very good iso player who can drag a shitty team to an 7th/8th seed. In my mind, turning good to great is much harder than turning bad to good. Actually, Butler is one of those guys you can, IMO, plug into just about every team and get really good results. Golden State is probably the only exception because Klay's superior shooting and him being close in a lot of other skills. IMO Jimmy is a guy poised to be someone's Scottie Pippen, but the modern CBA means death for guys like him, Davis, Paul George, etc. I could be wrong but my impression is that Paul George is a much better catch and shoot guy and off the ball player than Jimmy Butler. On defense, Butler could work on any team. On offense, I think his effectiveness will drop. On the Spurs and Warriors system, nobody has the ball in their hands all the time and everybody has to be effective without the ball. On the Cavs system, everybody not named Lebron James needs to be effective without the ball. That's why I prize Harden's offensive skills more than Westbrook's. Why exactly? I'm not sure I like this comparison very much, but I think if you switched Harden and Westbrook, the Thunder would be doing significantly worse. The Rockets might do a little worse.
There are three teams I consider above the rest this season, the Cavs, Spurs and Warriors. I just think that Harden would fit in better with those kinds of teams than Westbrook does. Neither would be a first option in any of those teams. Maybe on the Spurs but I think they would have to be un-Spurs-like with Westbrook in charge.
On another note, the Nuggets essentially traded themselves out of a playoff spot with the Blazers this year, yes?

Hmm, I feel like from what I've seen of Harden, I fee like he either has the ball and either drives, (sometimes aborting and passing), shoots or simply gives the ball up and is not a great part of the offense. I think Westbrook's general relentless activity would be fairly translatable.

Harden would fit in better because while neither should be a first option on any of those teams, Westbrook would try to make himself the first option. I believe Westbrook is completely incapable of being Robin to anyone's Batman. He wouldn't do it with Durant and Durant peaced out. It's problematic when you're playing with the best scorer in the world and you're taking more shots than him. I couldn't even see him doing it with LeBron in the same way D-Wade and Kyrie have. Every team in the league averages a higher eFG% than Westbrook. Warriors and Cavs are ranked #1 and #2. LeBron and Durant average a higher eFG% than every team in the league. How much better are these teams going to be if Westbrook joins them and takes more FGA than LeBron or Durant? Turning a shit team into an above average team is a lot different than turning an above average team into a contender.

And? Boston probably won't make it out of the 2nd round. Going against Toronto vs. Wash in R2 is a matter of personal preference. Pacers vs. Bulls vs. Heat in Round 1 is no different.

Well that seems presumptuous. I'm not saying it definitely will have an impact, but it could have an effect even beyond what you discussed. I think if you asked the Cavs, they definitely want the 1 seed.
