If he turns into the current DDR that would be amazing. Right now his career trajectory is a below average player. There are tons of stats that show how horrible he is so no need to go back there but this is the problem in a nuthshell: It's year 3. He plays high minutes. He still isn't producing even average levels "for a wing". I dont know what potential people see but it's not there when I look. He looks flat out lost like he has no clue what to do. However, there is one saving grace... Wiggins may be downright terrible because he's playing Small Forward. Put him at the 2 and he shows some above average promise. Thing is you cant keep overvaluing assets (The Knicks) or undervaluing talent (The Thunder). At some point someone has to make a decision before everyone else catches on. ETA: I keep mentioning year 3 because that decision has to be made soon. It's almost extension time.

I've heard Thibs defensive system is difficult to learn. from your perspective do the other 21 year olds on Minnie look just as lost as Wiggins? they do to me. i wouldn't give up Wiggins yet. DDR may look good now; it was a long, slow, painstaking climb. DDR gets a little bit better every year and every October he shows up with some small new wrinkle to his game. DDR is the exact cautionary tale people should have about judging a guy when he is 21. DDR is night and day different from 6 years ago. Will Wiggins fight, scratch and claw for every inch of improvement like DDR has ? or will he marry a porn star and become a coke-head? i dunno. if u watch him a lot more closely than i do you have a better idea on what his work ethic is like. I'm fairly down on Wiggins though so I may be biased in assuming his limited value across the league. Interested to see how others see his value.

The reality is that even if Wiggins offense doesnt improve, if someone convinces him to give real effort on D, he is instantly a chip that every playoff team wants.

You can find defense only wings for cheaper than you'd have to pay Wiggins. "Every playoff team" is a wild stretch, Outside of Chicago and Portland doubt you have anyone that would seriously consider it.

Well, if you don't think he's going to improve much, for sure, but you would be paying for upside. Wiggins is, IMO, untradable right now because there is no good partner.

the point about comparing wiggins to other minny young players needs more emphasis. towns is pretty bad at these defense rotations, lavine is still completely clueless. their offense is like a propaganda poster for 90's basketball. it is a lot of signs pointing to a team level problem
