And Chelsea definitely was missing Luiz in defence. I think he is an integral part of it due to his aggressive movements. Christensen feels too static to my liking, so definitely not a replacement for Luiz. Maybe take over from Cahill? I think Zouma would be the long term replacement for Luiz instead. Batshuayi is very good, probably not good enough to be a starter for a C1 contender but good enough to be a squad player or the main forward of a middle European team. And he was not given a chance, 7 starts spread over 10 months is not enough.
Yea he hasn't got the opportunities, but I think I've seen enough of him to conclude that. He doesn't feel threatening at all. He is not strong enough to play the way he doss, and can't dribble or run with the ball the way rashford Suarez martial can. And he always give me the impression that he is conserving energy, not working hard enough when pressing.

If Neymar is indeed going to PSG with such silly money, can PSG avoid the FFP? If I recall correctly, the FFP "allowance" for 2017 is around €30 million, cmiiw

FFP is based on your profit, your transfer fund is you profit plus a certain % of going over it. However PSG and Man City especially get around it by just giving themselves bigger sponsorship deals from their owners. Their owners are Ethiad (man city) and Qatar investments (PSG). So all that happens is you will see them announce a big sponsorship deal later in the year to balance the books.

Wouldn't that be considered cheating?
I remember during 2014 or 2015, PSG wss fined £20 million and also their spending was capped around £50 million because their contract with Qatar tourism (or something like that) was deemed to have an unfair value.

Not sure i don't know to much about the PSG situation i just mainly followed the Man City one. But it makes you laugh how it is FFP and they "fine" a team when they break the FFP rules xD
Man City got caught out with it and had to play champions league with 3 less squad members but that was the only thing. Now it seems FFP doesn't really exist anymore.

Sure, it doesn't have to be PSG that pays the whole package.
Sponsorship deals or ambassador for XY with other companies involved in the deal happened quite often already.

Well just as you typed that, the Monaco vice president has been interviewed and quoted as saying;
Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has said: "We are discussing an extension with Kylian. I hope we will get there."
And, as we reported yesterday, he added: "I assure you there is no agreement with a club."
So maybe, they will just say give it 12 more months or even 6 and put in a proper buyout clause of stupid amount in that contract and then let him leave that way.

Season started. Nice-Ajax 1-1
I have to say that Ajax looked a hell of a lot better than they did last year this early inthe season. I think they can at least make the group stage. They still have all the same problems they did last year.
1) Failing to score goals
2) Failing to play safely
Number 2 is kind of an Ajax thing, so I don't have much hope for that, but they really need to fix their goal scoring...

Firsr half was rather poor. Second half was better and we should've won. Nice is a bad team as well. No idea how they got 3rd place im France last year.

He also mentioned Lemar is not for sale. Guess that's it for Arsenal incomings. And I'm still not sold with Lacazette. God damn it Arsenal
And about Mbappe, don't think Monaco's stance is selling him, however, £160 million is silly money would be stupid to refuse that kind of offer.
With Danilo and Morata out, I think Madrid have a good chance signing him without getting caught with FFP

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- CONCACAF president Victor Montgliani said talks are "continuing" with CONMEBOL to hold another joint Copa America tournament in North America.
In 2016, the two confederations joined forces to put on the Copa America Centenario in honor of CONMEBOL's 100th anniversary. The tournament was a clear success both in the stands and on the field. The Copa's average attendance of over 46,000 was more than enough to satisfy tournament organizers.
The television ratings on Univision and Fox also spoke to the appetite for the tournament as the semifinal between the U.S. and Argentina was the most watched men's match in the history of FS1.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Wednesday's Gold Cup final, Montagliani said: "We've are continuing our discussions with our friends in CONMEBOL to bring back a Copa America.
"It won't be a Centenario type, that was a one-off. It will be a Copa America, a joint venture between two confederations."
He added: "We saw the success it had on the field and off the field last year, and we think it's one of the things I get stopped the most by fans. When are we going to have that back?
"I think it behooves both confederations, CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, to do everything we can to bring back an event of such a nature because I think the fans are clamoring for it."
As for the joint U.S./Mexico/Canada bid for the 2026 World Cup, Montagliani said that since the bid has already been submitted, CONCACAF is playing a waiting game to see if anyone else makes a challenge.
"We'll wake up on Aug. 12 and see who else is bidding," he said.
