Gomis didn't take a heavy touch and would easily have reached the ball and have a chance to score, so surely the same should apply here? "Denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity" is also dangerously vague. you can also take the flight of the ball into account, so that the ball would be travelling away from goal, meaning gomis would have to have run to it and possibly taken another touch, giving the defender time to recover - these kinds of hypotheticals are dangerous in refereeing but are things they have to consider the wording of the rule is too vague though, you're right | ||

He easily reaches that ball if he's not fouled. A quick touch and then a finish against someone who can't use their hands. Gomis isn't Agüero, but I'd bet on him to score from there. And it's not like Cahill is covering the goal. It's wide open for Gomis. The more I see it, the more I'm convinced it's a red. Biggest culprit is Willian anyway. Mou will give him a hiding for that positional play. | ||
