No, it's the team's option to buy. If it doesn't work out they don't have to buy. I think it was just too expensive for Juventus.

I don't know, that's the report I was thinking about Juventus appear to be out of the race to sign Radamel Falcao, judging by reports in Italy. Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Monaco accepted an offer to loan Falcao to Juventus, but the Italian champions declined an obligation to sign the Colombian striker permanently next summer. Juventus also look set to miss out to Real Madrid for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.

It's possible that the deal for Juventus obliged them to buy after the loan, but for United it is their option to buy. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/sep/01/radamel-falcao-manchester-united-season-long-loan-monaco Perhaps Monaco got desperate to offload him and his wages.

What are you doing Wenger? Btw that Falcao was panic buy, they needed CB and defensive MF, not another striker.
