Meh. A good credit rating is an advantage but what he's saying is don't buy it on credit if you can't afford it now. That's great advice. Most of this country is in debt because they buy too much on credit. I 100% support a pay for everything by cash approach outside of stuff like bills and big purchases. Building up credit just to get rewards is actually stupid behavior.

I mean, his argument about working out comes down to self control, which is totally fair. Same should apply to finances.
The credit card system is set up to take advantage of people who don't know better. They offer rewards like 1-5% cash back in order to entice people into using them, hoping that the vast majority of users won't know to pay off their statement balance every month. The best thing you can do/the ideal situation as a consumer, is to take advantage of the rewards they offer, while still paying off the statement balance every month so you don't incur extra costs.
I'm the CC company's worse customer, because I'll never rack up a debt or pay interest, and I milk every benefit possible. Those benefits (the 1-5% off, security, etc.) actually do add up. The solution, imo, is to take advantage of the system, not avoid it.

Well, it depends on who's around you to teach you that. I'm just arguing that he could be that someone to teach 18yo's that.
Also, I don't know if the Heat have gotten extra complacent, or Lebron and Wade's injuries are taking their toll. I'm guessing it's more of the former, but Lebron's back could seriously become a problem if it doesn't heal.
