It's more of a talent vs attitude situation for me. Dwight would be fine if he wasn't such a toxic presence. He's nowhere near good enough to justify how he carries himself and the demands he thinks he can make. Then there's the whole "Best Center in the League" thing that's been thrown around for the last few years. I don't think he's owned that title since his Finals run with the Magic for all the good that title did him in how badly we beat the shit out of them. Sure Dwight is an elite level rebounder and an above average big when it comes to protecting the rim. Is that worth the kind of praise and hype that he gets? Hell no. Asik is a comparable big man and you don't see him saying or doing a third of the shit Dwight does. Where I'm from, vulgarity =/= angry. Second, he's an athletic big that COULD dominate, but he just does not give a flying fuck when he's out there (at least from what he puts out on the court). He has no consistent low post game, is a liability on the free throw line, and has a shit attitude. I've been saying for a very very long time that he has been the beneficiary of great guards/shooters around him. Right now, a guy like Ibaka would be much more valuable to a team than Howard would, and he probably would cost half as much. | ||
