Its not the tournaments fault, quebec has seperate laws from the rest of Canada that prevent it from being part of these type of things.
Tourny has really good prize pool though, definitly going to sign up!

Quebec Sweepstakes Law Encourages Sweepstakes Void in Quebec The reason why residents of Quebec are not eligible to enter many Canada sweepstakes is not because the sponsors don't want to advertise in Quebec, and it's nothing personal against any of the residents of that fine province. Rather, many sweepstakes are void in Quebec because the sponsors must follow a stringent set of rules set out by the Quebec government.
For example, in order for sponsor to skip the "void in Quebec" restriction, Quebec sweepstakes law requires that the sponsors must do some or all of the following things:
Register the sweepstakes rules and all advertisements used to promote the contest with the Quebec government at least 30 days ahead of the sweepstake's launch. Pay a fee of up to 10% of the sweepstake's value, depending on who is allowed to enter. Agree to allow the government of Quebec to mediate any lawsuits arising from the contest. Follow strict guidelines about the contents of the sweepstakes rules. Allow the Quebec government to determine if the sweepstake may be changed or canceled once it has started. File a written report after the contest has concluded, attesting that the prizes have been delivered or attempted to be delivered. Agree to follow a number of other rules and guidelines. See the Quebec Sweepstakes Laws.
While these laws are intended to protect the citizens of Quebec, they are also a significant burden of money and resources to sweepstakes sponsors, and the consequences for a mistake are severe. Rather than run the risk of facing legal action if these long and complicated rules are not followed to the letter, many sponsors take the easy route of making their contests void in Quebec.

What's the reason the tournament is not open to players under 18? Many online and offline tournaments do not have this rule, including major LANs such as MLG and WCG.
I'm not sure about legal restrictions, but if LAN events can have under-18s participating, I find it hard to believe that online events could have stricter legal limitations.

Unfortunately, checks take a little bit longer to get cut and sent out, you should receive yours within a week or so. If you have a PayPal account you can email the person you were in contact with and provide them your PayPal account email address, those prize payments happen in the same week.

On September 07 2011 01:22 Temporarykid wrote: 18+.. 17 should be close enough! D; It's 18 for a reason, I'm very certain you still have to file it as a 1099 and pay taxes on it if you live in the US.

It has nothing to do specifically with the tournament, except they listed that rsvp is on Complexity, but failed to mention that dde has joined It's Gosu.
When sponsors pick up players, they're expecting exposure, and I would have made the post regardless of what player was listed without their team.

I liked the idea of a tournament, but there were a ton of walkovers and stuff.
I was supposed to play a Pro Protoss I'm a fan of,(I won't call out who) he'd kill me obviously, but i was looking forward to playing him, but he never showed, nor did my first opponent.
I guess its hard to organize tournaments like this, but I also found the reporting weird and stuff.

Yeah, just look at the Round 2 matches. 97 forfeitted matches over 125 matches played (+3 byes).
But like you said, it is hard to organize a tournament with so much players.

DDE showing some muscles in that game. Just hurt to watch really. Hopefully RSVP can make this entertaining series and do some protoss magic
+ Show Spoiler [Results] + DDE 3-2 RSVP it's bo5
DT play in g3 got RSVP the win. No turrets and just muled as they came out. Good macro game in g4 RSVP wins it, brings it back to 2-2.
