Greetings Fellow Netizens!
Kerp here from Nerdstomper. I am one of the head administrators. We have been hard at work the last few months, trying to improve every aspect of Nerdstomper.com, and create something that we ourselves would want to use.
But first, what is nerdstomper? Our main focus is our instructional video content, which we get from pros like white-ra, dimaga, or qxc (just to name a few). We also offer a forum for our pros to interact with our users, a streaming index, with a ton of statistics tracking for each stream. Along with streaming, we offer notifications for when streams come online, including SMS (Text), Email, and AIM messages.
Want a sample of what we have to offer? Here are some free videos from our top pros. (There are more free videos on the site. There videos are labeled as "Featured videos", and have a golden star next to them. All other videos are for our subscribers, but we allow a free preview of each video.)
Response covers some basic protoss strategies: http://nerdstomper.com/video/view/#/900603184001
Our Ukrainian translator Diziet helped Dimaga & White-Ra with their videos: http://www.nerdstomper.com/video/view/#/761612975001 http://www.nerdstomper.com/video/view/#/898551954001
If you're a Root/Catz fan (like me), check out this video Paulo did on controlling the game ZvZ: http://www.nerdstomper.com/video/view/#/758702383001
You can also checkout this interview we did with Xeris from the NASL http://www.nerdstomper.com/blogs/sc2/2011/04/09/nasl-hype-interview-with-xeris/
Nerdstomper was founded with the idea of getting professional players to make instructional videos, whose focus would be to help out the average player. We also saw the opportunity for pro level players to support themselves through us. For every video we get, we pay that pro for their time and content. All revenue we generate from subscriptions goes back into paying the pros.
We are committed to providing the highest quality videos that help you go from the average joe to pro, and are always focused on providing in-depth analysis for each game we support.
More about the 2.0 launch. + Show Spoiler +With the launch of 2.0, we are introducing free memberships. These don't have access to our lessons database and certain sections of the site, but a majority of the site remains open. Our new site includes a ton of new features that we are sure you will like.
These include an update to our stream pages, which has the metrics for any stream in our database (currently over 300 of the top streams on owned, justin, livestream, and ustream). We also offer a slew of notifications (Aim, email, and text message via your phone) when ever a stream goes live. That's just a taste of some of the new features on Nerdstomper, and we are looking to add more as we continue to develop the site.
FAQ
Q. How much is a paid membership? A. Its $5 a month on a per month basis, but can be as low as $36 ($3 per month) for an entire year.
http://www.nerdstomper.com/signup Basic signup is free!
Q. How often are new videos posted? A. We post new videos each week, and blogs regularly, in line with events.
Q. What pros have done videos for the site? A. Dimaga, Cruncher, Catz, Qxc, White-ra, Response, Drewbie, are among some who have already submitted videos. (Big shout-out to Root-Gaming & coL for their support) We have a few pros lined up to do content for us in the future, and we are always looking to get new people into making us content. We also offer content for WoW & HoN, if that's your cup of tea.
Q. Where does the money from my subscription go? A. It goes straight into the pocket of the pro players, for more content. It can be very expensive for a certain pro players time. You can consider your subscription as a donation to them.
Q. I'm a professional level player. How can I get involved? A. Feel free to email us: support@nerdstomper.com if you're interested in joining the team.

Any chance in the future that Nerdstompers is going to be setting up a SC2 team?
|
|
Hmm Nerdstompers. I've followed you guys a lot through out the WoW scene. GL with the contest and it's participants!

Hey, good question! We have expressed interest in setting up a SC2 team, but right now we are more focused on the site itself and providing higher quality content. We will definitely look into this more in the future, if we can find the right players.

Is there a logo with a transparent background that people can use? ;p

I've done some stuff with nerdstomper before and i gotta say, they are a great group of guys. Very professional in my dealings with them. Glad to hear they finally got 2.0 up, as they said they had been working on it for a while.
|
I absolutely love writing for Nerdstomper. They're a bunch of great, friendly guys and their website is pretty awesome. Lots of pros post pretty good materials and whatnot there, definitely great to be a member. And I love what they've done with the site.

This sounds like Teamliquid, but not free. Am I wrong?
User was warned for this post. We host no video teaching content and this is completely different. Don't mindlessly make offensive comments.

NS is a really awesome group of guys and it's a great site all around. Glad to see their hard work paid off and they were able to get 2.0 up.
|
The instructional videos seem useful however you can only watch the first minute or so in HD with sound before it automatically switched to low definition and turns off the sound completely. No good way to actually see if the entire video is worth paying for or not. Hopefully some full videos would be offered to show the true quality of the instructionals

Hi. I looked at the first paragraph, then the second and third, and I still don't know what nerdstomper is.

nerdstomper has a variety of players all working to make instructional videos
great website NS!

Love this site, Yoda got me onto it <3

Read the fourth and fifth paragraph then? Really...?

Definitely. The first paragraph should explain your website to people, who have never heared about it. New Version? Nice! But a new version of what?!?
|
Looks good. Hopefully they add more pros/semipros and crank out more videos per month.
|

We are always actively seeking more professional players to make videos for us.
Also, updated the main post to clarify some stuff and add more info. Didn't mean to cause any confusion.

Hope you guys find the right situation to make up a SC2 team. Followed NS in WoW. Hoodrch was my hero , Which made me a NS Fanboy =]=]
|
I am surprised that i have never heard of this before now. I will definitely take a look and who knows, i may be visiting your site more often! good luck with everything and i hope you are able to make a legit SC2 team!
|
I remember running into a couple of the Nerdstomper staff at MLG D.C. as they covered that event last year. We just had basic contact -- talked about SC2, WoW arena, what their site was about, etc. So I did check out the site after I returned home from that trip; the subscription fee was a bit of a turn-off for me at the time, but I'll definitely visit Nerdstomper again now to check out the redesign, and because it sounds like there is a bit more publicly-available content to sample than was present before. Thanks for the update, guys
|
Neat way to add to the community and put some dosh in a pro's pocket. Very cool idea and good luck with it in the future.

I love Kerp and I love nerdstomper

I recently started playing HoN and was looking for somewhere with good strategy/instructional content.
At first I was a bit apprehensive about paying for VODs, but I'm very glad I did. The content is very helpful, and their HoN pros are top notch.
All in all great site. Hope things go well for you guys.
|
Hmmm, I can't watch the VODs in the links, anyone else have this problem? The direct to the site but nothing loads...

Hmm, that's weird. Works for me? Try clearing your browsers cache.
Been having some database issues here and there (currently re-writing and fixing it) but it shouldn't affect videos. Was it only the white-ra video?

I agree. Our group of capuchin monkeys have been working around the clock on NS, and during a dispute, decided to fling poo at our graphics artist. Sadly, this caused him to go blind for a week, and he was unable to deliver a full color advert. (We did get something from him though). I have since edited the post to explain in more detail.

it's all video links that are broken for me, both in firefox for and internet explorer. the on-page links to the WoW videos work for me, though...

Are you logged in when you try watching the vods? Try logging out and watching the featured vods.
Also, this might be an old error that pop-ed up. Try setting your community to sc2, then clicking on a vod. If that doesn't work, try setting the community to Heroes of Newerth and clicking on a link in the thread. I'll let our dev team know about your problem.

ah, yes, switching the designated community fixes it. kind of strange that you can't access the other videos unless that setting is set correctly?

what a wonderful site thank you for your efforts!

I would subscribe even if it's just to support people like WhiteRa, but paypal says you only accept instant payments (meaning credit card). Most people outside the US don't have credit cards, at least in germany they are quite uncommon (in our office (500 people) we had to get a company credit card because noone had a card to test a program function).
If you want more international customers you should really think about the decision of only allowing this payment type.
|
Is it only me or the site is down ?
Edit-- Nvm, it seems to be back up !
|
Whenever i try to watch a video, it says i'm watching the HQ preview, so i click the SQ button and the quality goes down but it still says i'm watching the HQ preview. Then, after watching a minute 30 of SQ footage, i lose audio and it says i have to pay to watch HQ videos. Mashing the HQ/SQ button repeatedly was my first response to this and it accomplished nothing.
Have tried from two computers at two different locations using two different browsers and encountered this.

The preview period is for HD & Sound, since the commentary is what NS primarily pays for, you can only listen to 1min & 30 secs of it. You can upgrade for full audio & HD.

Its kind of weird that its cheaper to buy a 3 months subscription than a 6 month. But still a pretty interesting site. Gonna definitely check it out. Just dont know if its really worth dropping money on.

Can't wait, maybe I'll hit Diamond lol.

Nerdstomper's an awesome site that I wish would get more popular, the concept is so damn cool and they have some great videos but I feel like the site design and marketing is holding them back a bit. It definitely has the potential to be something really cool though.
