Most Shadowrun players would probably not be happy with their game being called a "dnd variant" lol.

Ran across a geek dating book that my roommates have. Its actually got some useful tips for being a generally normal person. It wasn't a terrible read at only 100 pages but it got me thinking that most geeks are single simply because they're shy or some shit. Followed by me who's single because everyone woman I've meet has told me I have an abrasive personality. It did its job in reminding me why I'm painfully single.

It's just cyberpunk DnD. Maybe if it didn't have orcs and elves and dwarves for NO REASON. I like Shadowrun, but that's dumb. As for geek dating, everybody knows why I'm single lol.

I think it had something to do with me being extremely ticklish (which I got a lot of shit from friends for). To be clear though, I am a guy despite the somewhat effeminate alias. Speaking of dating, my good friend from college was over for a week (it feels weird to say "from college", I graduated like 5 months ago). Before he left, we spent a couple hours drinking scotch and champagne and chatting about life. He made a convincing case that I am "a catch" and I just need to get out. He also mentioned that my absolute shit level of confidence with girls is holding me back. While that's likely true, it's also true that I seem to have a pathological fear of relationships. I have great rapport with most of my friends' girlfriends and a lot of girls (and they're all pretty great girls)-- however if there's even the slightest hint of a potential relationship I retreat to my fortress of awkward solitude.

I used to date a lot back in college and eventually I was like. "Yknow, I'd rather stay in my room and play video games. And there's actually nothing wrong with that." If I met somebody who shared my passions for video games and also backpacking overseas, I'd be down. But people like that DO NOT EXIST.

Not to mention that neither of you would break the subject because the two of you would rather travel and play videogames alone.

Pretty much every relationship I've been in ended "badly" though in very different ways. After those, the last couple of girls that I had some sort of mutual attraction with ended kinda poorly-- one went abroad and came back with a boyfriend, the other lives just over 1K miles away. Can't be sure if my love life is dead or in extremely deep hibernation. See I can joke about it IswearImnotlonelyoranythinggeez

You can get a ton of spells or whatever-the-tech-equivalents-are-called, but you might cast worst or have less Edge. You might get a race with a bunch of innate bonuses, but you'd have to take on a lot of flaws to purchase other things you want in your build. It's definitely more robust than D&D's system, no matter how you look at it imo. Sadly, I've never gotten to try it out (plus I barely remember my Exalted character creation process at this point). More robust, maybe, but by the time I get to purchasing equipment I feel like I should be playing a video game instead so that I could have assistance in managing my inventory. I didn't even play a rigger for goodness sake. The equipment section is just absurdly detailed, it's like there are more guns in SR than there are charms in Exalted. Hyperbole, but it's what I felt the last time I tried to make a character.
