I didn't go farther than the trailers because it seemed like the equivalent of a random "trailer"/AMV with Requiem for a Dream slapped on it like there are dime a dozen on youtube (see comparison of the choregraphy to Sucker Punch). I started seeing someone a few weeks ago, at which point between working late, errands, and going out a few times I was feeling like I barely had any "free" time (in the "sitting at home doing whatever I feel like" sense). Ojectively it wasn't much but compared to my usual daily life it was pretty hectic. I was hesitant because I was wondering if gving up so much was what I wanted, and if I'd feel satisfied with everything that was going on. Plus, although I enjoyed spending time together, I couldn't help but think that were I given the choice between spending a few hours with her or a few of my friends, I'd choose almost every friend over her (not having seen most of them in a long time tilted the scales too). Maybe I just wasn't sure what to expect and was trying to come up with excuses that it doesn't suit me and call it off. I decided not to listen to that and just go along with things, it's an educational experience if anything and even if I end up disgruntled and dial back to being pals it won't have been wasted time in the long term. What's there to lose? Sure I value my comfort too, but knowing what I pit against is nice for perspective. And after two weeks I'm done with most of my constraint, work's gotten tamer, and I didn't up not spending over half my evenings with the girl, so I can reasonably chalk it up to circumstances as it looks like. Now having a friend not initiating conversation anymore and answering the bare minimum when I know he's not busy is another thing. It's a complete U-turn from previously and it feels like someone doesn't want to hear from me and just fades hoping I'll forget instead of stating it clearly... again. I know they don't owe me anything, and I get that people in would rather do that to those they aren't close to anymore than be straightforward and risk a bad reaction, but it's hard not to grow bitter time after time. | ||

That sounds almost exactly like when I had my little freak out recently about having no time to just sit at home and play games all night because i was spending half my nights with my new gf. similarly when my schedule calmed down and we got more comfortable with each other that feeling disappeared because i get me time whenever I want and we play games together. physical pleasure is somewhat of a priority too even if happiness is more important. I have been guilty of being on both sides of the fading friends situation and felt guilty about it. it wasnt because i didnt like them but more because it wasn't convenient/i was busy. some friends come back some go life goes on. | ||
